Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson (knee) has not received medical clearance yet and could open training camp on the physically unable to perform list. Hankerson hopes to be ready for training camp, but has not received any assurances from doctors that he will be cleared.

Huddle Up: Hankerson has started 12 games over the past 2 seasons with the Skins, but that guarantees him little heading into the new season with the team having added free-agents DeSean Jackson & Andre Roberts and using a fourth-round pick on Ryan Grant at the position.

Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said the team expects WR Leonard Hankerson (knee) to get back on the field at some point during training camp. There appears to be a chance that Hankerson could start camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Huddle Up: Hankerson, who had 30 catches for 375 yards and 3 TDs, is going to have to win over a new regime just to make the team with some stiff competition at WR, including Pierre Garcon, DeSean Jackson, Andre Roberts, Santana Moss, Aldrick Robinson, fourth-round pick Ryan Grant and impressive college free agent Cody Hoffman all in the mix.

Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson (knee) may need to undergo surgery because an MRI revealed he has a lateral collateral ligament injury.

Huddle Up: This is a bummer for Hankerson, who was coming on strong in recent weeks. Hopefully he will have a speedy recovery, but it sounds like this will end his season.

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson (knee) might have suffered a torn lateral cruciate ligament in the Week 11 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He will have an MRI Monday, Nov. 18.

Huddle Up: Bad news for a guy who for the most part was Washington's WR2. If he's done for the year, Santana Moss and Aldrick Robinson would see an uptick in looks.

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson (knee) said Sunday, Nov. 17, that he will have an MRI on his knee Monday, Nov. 18. Hankerson said he doesn't think his injury is too serious.

Huddle Up: He had been coming on in recent weeks. Hopefully it's nothing serious for him.

Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson (hamstring) practiced in full Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Huddle Up: Barring a setback, look for Hankerson to play Thursday night against the Vikings.

Posted: 11/4/2013 11:08pm et

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said WR Leonard Hankerson should be able to play Week 10 even though he is dealing with a hamstring injury.

Huddle Up: Hankerson matched his season high with 5 catches in Week 9, and if he's truly OK, he should be able to get in some practice work this week.

Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson received praise from the coaching staff, particularly head coach Mike Shanahan, after his Week 1 performance against the Philadelphia Eagles. Hankerson had five catches for 80 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. 'He needs some playing time. He's got to have some consistency, like he did (Monday) night to make those plays. He did a great job in the red zone. He ran an excellent route. What a lot of people don't see is the routes he is running and when he doesn't get the ball and he's open. That's what you are impressed with.'

Huddle Up: This is excellent to hear for Hankerson, who has been a bit of a sleeper with unfulfilled potential since entering the league. If he can win that No. 2 job permanently, he will have great value the rest of the way.

Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson (knee) left the team's second preseason game with a knee issue Monday, Aug. 19.

Huddle Up: It was a bad night to be a Washington reserve WR as fellow wideout Aldrick Robinson also suffered a thigh injury Monday night. More should be known Tuesday on the severity of the injuries, which could wind up affecting the Skins' WR depth and final regular-season roster decisions.
