Huddle Up: A little Shorts news if you own him in a dynasty league. Shorts is in the final season of his contract, but it sounds like the Jaguars view him as part of the solution once Blake Bortles is at quarterback. The question, of course, is are they holding a spot for Justin Blackmon as well?

Huddle Up: Injuries limited Shorts to 11.8 yards per catch and only 3 scoring receptions last season, and expect the Jags to wait and confirm that's all in the rear-view mirror before committing to an extension.

Huddle Up: While the J'ville future of troubled fellow wideout Justin Blackmon is anything but certain, there are no such concerns about Shorts, whose focus this offseason is getting healthy after groin and shoulder injuries limited him to 13 games and a career-low 11.8 yards-per-catch average.

Huddle Up: Despite missing the final 3 games of the year, Shorts had a career-high 66 receptions this past season but wasn't nearly as explosive, seeing his yards-per-catch average drop a full 6 yards from 17.8 to 11.8. At this moment -- and with Justin Blackmon's issues -- Shorts is in line to the be the Jags' No. 1 WR if healthy, but that could change with the upcoming draft.

Huddle Up: The risk, of course, is that Shorts does stay healthy and puts up big numbers that drive up his value heading into free agency. And Shorts' ability to do that depends on who plays quarterback for the Jaguars this season.

Huddle Up: Shorts has played through pain for most of the season, and now that things were only getting worse, the Jags are shutting down their leading pass-catcher. Look for rookie Ace Sanders and/or Mike Brown to step into the void, but neither is a particularly attractive fantasy option.

Huddle Up: Shorts' groin issue has been troubling him for a few weeks, but it seems to getting worse not better. See if he can get on the field Friday, but it looks like it's headed toward a game-time decision.

Huddle Up: Shorts hit season lows for catches and yards for a game he finished, but did salvage some fantasy face with a 6-yard TD catch early in the second quarter. He was targeted 6 times, but Chad Henne was either under pressure or ineffective most of the night, limiting the opportunities for the Jags' pass-catchers.

Huddle Up: This is nothing new with Shorts, who's dealt with AC joint and groin injuries for more than 2 months now but has yet to miss a game. He's been targeted 11 times in each of his last 2 games and has had 14 catches for 135 yards and a TD.

Huddle Up: Shorts has indicated he is playing through pain, but he did so last week so it's no surprise he's expecting to do so again this week.

Huddle Up: It's tough to rely on Shorts for production with his injury, but he could get loose for a couple of deep plays.
Posted: 10/23/2013 10:41am ET
Huddle Up: Shorts has been a solid passing game option for the Jaguars, but the combination of his shoulder injury, Blaine Gabbert's return and Justin Blackmon reasserting himself as Jacksonville's WR1 Shorts' fantasy value is bound to take a hit.
Posted: 10/18/2013 1:57pm ET
Huddle Up: Shorts could very well play but the question is how effective will he be, especially if he takes another hit on the shoulder. Weigh the risk and examine all your options before making the final call on Shorts.
Posted: 10/17/2013 12:02am ET
Huddle Up: Shorts is still highly questionable and if he does play he'll be limited. Shorts is a risky play Sunday even with a good match-up against San Diego, especially with Justin Blackmon eating up double-digit targets every week now.
Posted: 10/16/2013 7:37pm ET
Huddle Up: Shorts is in serious danger of missing Sunday's game which means Justin Blackmon - who saw 20 targets last week - is in line for another busy afternoon against San Diego.

Huddle Up: It's great to see he is hopeful for this week, but how much can you trust him with a broken rib? Keep an eye on his injury status, but don't count on much from him until he is cleared and healed.
Posted: 10/14/2013 11:57am ET
Huddle Up: Doesn't sound good for Shorts, who has been bumped to second fiddle in the Jacksonville passing game with the return of Justin Blackmon.
Posted: 10/14/2013 12:48am ET
Huddle Up: It sounds like he would be knocked out for a while if this is the case. Keep an eye on his situation this week.
Posted: 10/11/2013 3:23pm ET
Huddle Up: Shorts has been limited this week but if you own him he has to be in your lineup. The Jaguars are going to have to throw the ball a ton against the Broncos, so Shorts will see plenty of targets when Jacksonville falls behind.
Posted: 10/4/2013 5:58pm ET
Huddle Up: Shorts hasn't practiced all week, and while Jags coach Gus Bradley thinks the the team's leading pass-catcher will play, it has the makings of a game-time decision.
Posted: 10/3/2013 7:56pm ET
Huddle Up: Seeing the Jags' leading receiver miss a second straight practice has his fantasy owners concerned, but the Jags insist the injury is minor and that Shorts will play Sunday.
Posted: 10/2/2013 4:36pm ET
Huddle Up: Hopefully this is minor and won't affect his playing status this week. Shorts has a nice matchup against the Rams. Keep an eye on his injury situation.
Posted: 9/11/2013 6:51pm ET
Huddle Up: That's good news, especially given the nice matchup he has this week against the Raiders. Shorts was targeted plenty last week, but had little to show for it thanks to good coverage from Brandon Flowers and bad quarterbacking from Blaine Gabbert. Things should improve for him with Chad Henne at the helm.
Posted: 8/15/2013 8:35pm ET
Huddle Up: Good news for Jags' fans and better news for the team's duelling QBs as it sounds as if the Jags' leading 2012 receiver in terms of yards (979) and TDs (7) should be back any day now.
Posted: 8/12/2013 12:20pm ET
Huddle Up: Shorts is nursing a calf injury, and while it would be preferable for him to be on the field it's still plenty early. Besides, the Jags are going to really need him while Justin Blackmon is sitting out the first month of the season.
Posted: 8/5/2013 12:23pm ET
Huddle Up: Calf injuries seem to be the trend this training camp. No word on how much time if any Shorts will miss, but there's plenty of preseason for him to get back on the field. In the meantime, however, the already-thin Jacksonville receiving corps is looking positively anemic.
