New York Jets RB Bilal Powell has seen more carries with QB Mark Sanchez struggling. Powell has had 54 carries in the last four games, compared with 35 rushes in the first nine contests. RB Shonn Greene will continue to see the majority of the carries, but Powell will continue to be mixed in. 'They're two totally different players, and they complement each other really well,' offensive coordinator Tony Sparano said. Powell and Greene have been seeing more running opportunities because head coach Rex Ryan said they have transitioned from a more zone rushing attack to a gap running attack.
Huddle Up: Powell hit season highs in carries (19) and rushing yards (78) and also added a TD in Week 14 in Jacksonville, but only had 6 rushes for 28 yards Monday night vs. the Titans. With the Jets often playing from behind, it's going to be hard to have much confidence in Powell or Greene over the season's final 2 weeks.

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan expects to have RB Bilal Powell (toe, shoulder) available for the team's Week 15 game Monday, Dec. 17, against the Tennessee Titans.
Huddle Up: Powell has been part of a RBBC in New York, so he could have another nice week. Bear in mind he could be in for a low touch total because of these injuries, however.

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said RB Bilal Powell does not have a broken toe.
Huddle Up: This contradicts earlier reports that Powell fractured a toe in the Jets' Week 14 game. Powell has already indicated he plans on playing Monday night, fractured toe or not.

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell could return following the team's bye week.
Huddle Up: Powell is nursing a shoulder injury, while the Jets' other backup running back Joe McKnight hobbled off in Week 8 after aggravating an ankle injury. That's how Shonn Greene keeps getting carries, though a week off could allow both backups to get healthy and swipe carries from the largely ineffective Greene.

Updating a previous report, New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (shoulder) underwent an MRI and it confirmed he suffered a dislocated shoulder Week 6. There is a chance Powell could be ready for Week 8 but the team could hold him out since they have a Week 9 bye.
Huddle Up: Fellow Jets RB Joe McKnight suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 6 so things are suddenly looking thin behind starter Shonn Greene.

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell will undergo an MRI exam Monday, Oct. 15, to determine how much time he'll have to miss after suffering a dislocated shoulder in Week 6.
Huddle Up: Powell's injury offers Shonn Greene a reprieve from any sort of job share, though Greene's big Week 6 game took care of that issue anyway. Joe McKnight's transition to the defensive side of the ball could be slowed as the Jets need a backup to Greene; Jonathan Grimes could also see some action.

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (shoulder) left the Week 6 game Sunday because
of a shoulder injury and did not return. Later, a source with knowledge of the
situation said Powell's shoulder is dislocated.
Huddle Up: Powell, who only a week or 2 ago was thought to be challenging Shonn Greene for
the Jets' starting job, took a backseat Sunday to Greene who steamrolled the Colts
with 161 yards and 3 TDs. Powell, meanwhile, rushed 4 times for 14 yards.

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell is not expected to see a bulk of the carries in Week 4 against the San Francisco 49ers despite a slightly higher average yards per carry than RB Shonn Greene. The team takes into consideration that Powell is a situational runner, whereas Greene is used in short yardage, near the goal line, and in the four-minute offense when he faced 10-man fronts. However, Jets head coach Rex Ryan said the team is open to trying anything to bolster their rushing attack, including the possibility of more early carries for Powell and Joe McKnight. Powell nearly split the workload with starting RB Shonn Greene in the second half of the team's Week 3 game. So far this season, Greene is averaging 2.8 yards per carry with a long of 14 yards.
Huddle Up: Greene is on a short leash; if he continues to struggle, the Jets will have to go to the bullpen and Powell appears to have first crack at carries.

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell will serve as the team's third-down back. Powell beat out RB Joe McKnight for the job. McKnight, however, figures to have a meaningful role in the offense.
Huddle Up: McKnight is currently down with a hamstring injury, leaving the door open for Powell to pick up more work. If he's able to impress he could not only leave McKnight behind but also carve into Shonn Greene's workload as well.

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell has received some reps with the first team in practice Thursday, Aug. 2, and has looked good.
Huddle Up: Powell is battling Joe McKnight for change-of-pace duties behind Shonn Greene. Given the way Greene has failed to take charge of the feature back duties, the winner of that battle could claim more than just a minority share of the touches.
