Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is listed as probable for Week 15.

Huddle Up: Unlike last week, Thomas is looking like he'll actually be active AND play against the Chargers on Sunday.

  • Posted: 12/11/2014 2:47pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) looked more comfortable running routes during the portion of practice open to the media Thursday, Dec. 11.

Huddle Up: All signs continue to point toward Thomas returning Sunday following essentially a four-game absence.

  • Posted: 12/10/2014 6:20pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 10 but expects to play in Week 15 against the San Diego Chargers.

Huddle Up: For those Thomas owners who've survived despite the TE's month-long absence, it's looking like this will be the week he returns barring any practice setbacks.

  • Posted: 12/9/2014 4:14pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is planning to play Sunday, Dec. 14, after being held out of much of Week 14.

Huddle Up: Thomas has essentially missed the last month after going out early in Week 11, and his return will be welcomed by the fantasy owners who have managed to survive without him.

  • Posted: 12/5/2014 2:18pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is practicing again and moving around well Friday, Dec. 5, but there is no guarantee he plays in Week 14 against the Buffalo Bills.

Huddle Up: Thomas has a better shot than last week, but it looks like it's headed to another dreaded Sunday-afternoon game-time decision.

  • Posted: 12/4/2014 3:54pm ET

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 4.

Huddle Up: Unlike the team's other pass-catching Thomas, the TE was able to get in limited work for the second straight day. His status, though, for Sunday is still yet to be determined.

  • Posted: 12/3/2014 4:13pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Huddle Up: The Broncos are cautiously optimistic Thomas will be able to play Sunday following a two-game absence, but nothing is going to be decided until later in the week.

  • Posted: 12/1/2014 8:38pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) said he is closing in on a return to action. He also stated that his current ankle injury is not similar in any way to the right ankle problem that slowed his first two seasons. "It's nothing like the last one,'"Thomas said. "No crutches, no boots, I've been able to move the whole time. It's just getting that strength back. No, I won't be flying out for surgery in a couple days.' He did some core work with trainers before the Week 13 game and didn't play.

Huddle Up: Thomas was a game-time decision in Week 13, and you would think that would make him a good bet to return Sunday after a two-game absence. See, though, what he can do in practice this week. Despite the missed games, Thomas still leads all NFL pass-catchers with 12 receiving TDs.

  • Posted: 11/30/2014 8:19pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is inactive for the Week 13 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Huddle Up: Jacob Tamme will get the start once again but he plays on less than 50 percent of the offense snaps. Tamme is a TE2 at best unless he catches a touchdown pass.

  • Posted: 11/28/2014 8:28pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 13.

Huddle Up: Thomas will be a game-time decision but it's looking like he'll miss another game with an ankle injury. Jacob Tamme would start in his place. Tamme isn't on the fantasy radar.

  • Posted: 11/28/2014 2:50pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is in attendance for practice Friday, Nov. 28, but is not participating in drills.

Huddle Up: Well, Friday is here, and it sounds like Thomas wasn't even able to get in the limited work he had in the previous two practices. In other words, it's looking like the TE will miss a second straight game.

  • Posted: 11/27/2014 8:03pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 27.

Huddle Up: Another practice, same status for Thomas is trying to make it back after missing Week 11. See if Friday's practice report is any more illuminating.

  • Posted: 11/26/2014 4:05pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) was limited at practice Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Huddle Up: It's the first practice of the week for the Broncos, and Thomas will likely have to show more later in the week to avoid missing a second straight game.

  • Posted: 11/21/2014 3:00pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle), who appeared limited during practice Friday, Nov. 21, figures to be a game-time decision against the Miami Dolphins in Week 12. Thomas said his ankle is improving, though: 'If I can go, I will go.'

Huddle Up: Thomas has made small strides throughout the week, but his status obviously remains very much in question. The big problem for his fantasy owners is the Broncos' late-afternoon kickoff so plan your lineup arrangements accordingly.

  • Posted: 11/20/2014 3:48pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is not participating in practice Thursday, Nov. 20.

Huddle Up: Thomas missed a second straight day, but still has a chance to play Sunday, especially if he can get in some work Friday.

  • Posted: 11/19/2014 2:10pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Huddle Up: Thomas' sprain isn't said to be of the high-ankle variety, and it's the first practice of the week so don't get too worked up for now.

  • Posted: 11/17/2014 3:12pm ET

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas' (ankle) sprained ankle isn't considered serious at all, and he may not miss any time after being forced from the team's Week 11 game against the St. Louis Rams, according to a source with knowledge of Thomas' status.

Huddle Up: Thomas should be considered questionable for Sunday, although early reports sound promising. If he can't go, Jacob Tamme will get the start.

  • Posted: 11/16/2014 8:03pm ET

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) left the Week 11 game against the St. Louis Rams, and X-rays taken after the game were negative. He will go for further tests Monday, Nov. 17, including an MRI.

Huddle Up: Early reports say Thomas avoided a high ankle sprain but we'll know more in the next couple of days. If Thomas were to miss time, Jacob Tamme will start in his place. Tamme is a big drop-off both for the Broncos and fantasy owners.

  • Posted: 11/6/2014 8:02pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas may be getting more opportunities to catch the football, according to offensive coordinator Adam Gase. Gase said Thomas has been used more in protection schemes as of late but wants to maintain the tight end's status as an impact player.

Huddle Up: This is music to the ears of angst-addled Thomas owners who have seen the TE targeted only 14 times and catch 8 passes for 83 yards and 1 TD over the last three games.

  • Posted: 9/8/2014 11:01am ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas opened the 2014 regular season with seven receptions, 104 yards and three touchdowns (3, 35, 5) in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Huddle Up: Thomas was definitely Peyton Manning's target of choice in the season opener, proving why he deserves to be mentioned in the same sentence with Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski as elite fantasy tight ends.

  • Posted: 7/17/2014 7:43pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas is a priority for the team to sign to a long-term deal, but general manager John Elway isn't willing to pay him close to what New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham received. Elway said the team hasn't received a response from Thomas' representation after the team's initial offer. 'Even though Julius had a tremendous year for us, he's only (played) 23 games. We want Julius to be a Bronco for a long time and we think he has tremendous upside, but he's not at that level,' Elway said.

Huddle Up: Fantasy GMs would do well to listen to Elway's words. Thomas has had one elite season (to Graham's 3) after catching only a single pass total over his first 2 years in the Mile High City. In other words, Graham belongs in a clear tier above until we see more.

  • Posted: 6/22/2014 11:39pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas is monitoring the arbitration case between New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham and his team to determine his position. 'I've kind of been keeping ... an eye on that situation, obviously, because it could probably come back to affect a lot of us tight ends,' said Thomas, who is scheduled to make $645,000 this year. 'But the way I feel about it is, 'Does two letters next to your name on the depth chart really determine your value to a team?''

Huddle Up: Thomas, a former college hoops star like Graham, has one stellar season under his belt and will need a few more to match the Saints standout and be considered a part of this intriguing 'tweener category.

  • Posted: 6/17/2014 7:37pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas admits he was very unsure of himself in the offense last season, and he's just now starting to pick things up. "Last year, I was able to do a lot of good things. I kind of survived on self confidence and athleticism. In one game, the defense did something, and Peyton was like, 'Julius, did you see that?' And I said, 'Peyton, they got me; I had no clue what they were doing.' There are still situations I haven't been in before, and I'm still learning what to do," Thomas said. Tight ends coach Clancy Barone said Thomas is a gym rat in terms of his study habits and has high intelligence and maturity.

Huddle Up: Thomas nothing short of revelation last season when he finished third among all NFL TEs with 151 fantasy points, and it's not surprising he's still learning on the fly, having totaled one career reception in his 2 prior pro seasons. Expect more big numbers -- and a second-straight top-5 fantasy TE finish -- this season.
