Oakland Raiders TE David Ausberry (knee) returned to practice Monday, Sept. 1, and head coach Dennis Allen all signs are pointing to Ausberry playing in the team's season opener Sunday, Sept. 7.

Huddle Up: The Raiders are hoping the athletic Ausberry can give them the pass-catching tight end they've been looking for for quite some time, and the fact that he's healthy is a good first step. However, he's still likely to share time with Mychal Rivera so his fantasy value at this point is negligible.

Oakland Raiders TE David Ausberry will undergo knee surgery and miss the team's preseason opener Friday, Aug. 8, according to head coach Dennis Allen. The exact nature of Ausberry's injury has not been revealed.

Huddle Up: Ausberry was listed atop the depth chart, but now second-year player Mychal Rivera takes over and could have low-end TE2 value if Ausberry misses any significant amount of time.

Oakland Raiders TE David Ausberry (knee) missed practice Monday, Aug. 4, and TE Mychal Rivera saw many of the reps with the first-team in his place.

Huddle Up: Neither of Oakland's top two TEs are great fantasy options, but if the TEBC is down to just one clear option, it at least clarifies things.

Oakland Raiders TE David Ausberry could be a receiving threat this upcoming season, according to head coach Dennis Allen. Ausberry said he feels more comfortable in the offense, after missing the entire 2013 season with a shoulder injury.

Huddle Up: The Raiders have talked about Ausberry's potential before, but nothing much has materialized. However, with a quarterback in Matt Schaub who is familiar with throwing to the tight end, maybe this will finally be the season.

Oakland Raiders TE David Ausberry (shoulder) took part in the team's voluntary workout program. He is expected to compete with TE Mychal Rivera for the starting job, and the team also could bring in a veteran to compete after cuts are made in training camp and the preseason.

Huddle Up: It's a make-or-break season for Ausberry, a seventh-round pick in 2011 who missed all of last season due to a preseason shoulder injury. He's shown some flashes -- mainly in practice -- but has done little in the games that count, catching 9 passes for 106 yards.
