Arizona Cardinals RB Stepfan Taylor (calf) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 29, and he has been ruled out for Week 9.

Huddle Up: Andre Ellington will handle most of the work against the Cowboys. He's locked in as a RB2 with Taylor not around to steal goal line carries.

Arizona Cardinals RB Stepfan Taylor (calf) could miss a significant amount of time because of a calf injury he suffered in Week 8, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Huddle Up: Taylor, who scored a pair of TDs in Week 7, is the backup/handcuff behind Andre Ellington, but that role could shift to unknowns Robert Hughes or Marion Grice for the next month or so unless the Cards decide to sign a more experienced back.

Arizona Cardinals RB Stepfan Taylor worked with the first-team offense in place of RB Andre Ellington (neck) Tuesday, July 29. Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com believes the move means that Taylor is ahead of RB Jonathan Dwyer in the battle for the No. 2 RB job.

Huddle Up: The Cards' No. 2 RB gig is intriguing as many wonder how many carries Ellington will be able to shoulder, but also be mindful that it's still more than a week before the Cards play their first preseason game and the depth chart may shuffle several times before the dust settles.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians expanded on how the team plans to use RB Andre Ellington this year at the owners meetings this week. "He is still not a guy who you will pound up the middle 30 times a game and survive," Arians said. "He can run the football 30 times a game if you do it correctly, but you'd rather have him have 10 catches and 20 carries and let Stepfan Taylor or (Jonathan) Dwyer have the rest of the carries pound the rest of the ball up in there."

Huddle Up: Ellington's fantasy owners will be perfectly happy with 30 touches a game regardless of how they come; heck, in a split backfield in Arizona they'll settle for 20. Either way, the indication here is that Ellington has some serious fantasy value heading into the 2014 season.
