Minnesota Vikings QB Gus Frerotte (back) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 18. Frerotte is improving and said he is 100 percent. However, he will not start in Week 16.
The Huddle Take: It's odd that he's 100 percent yet still not starting. Suffice to say young Tarvaris Jackson will be on an extremely short leash this week, since it seems Frerotte is good to go.

Minnesota Vikings QB Gus Frerotte (back) was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 12, and he is not expected to play in Week 15. He is listed as doubtful for the game.
The Huddle Take: Frerotte continues to be hampered by his back injury which makes him an even more questionable start than usual for Week 15. If he is out of action then backup quarterback Tavaris Jackson should get the starting nod for the Vikings.

Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress said it is possible for QB Gus Frerotte (back) to start in Week 15 without practicing this week.
The Huddle Take: No doubt the Vikes are leery of going forward with Tarvaris Jackson since a playoff berth is in reach. Expect Frerotte to play if it is at all possible.

Minnesota Vikings QB Gus Frerotte (back) left the team's Week 14 game with a lower-back bruise, but head coach Brad Childress did not give any new information about Frerotte's status for Week 15. Childress said Frerotte would start if he is healthy. QB Tarvaris Jackson could start the game if Frerotte is unable to play.
The Huddle Take: Childress was tight-lipped when asked about Frerotte, which doesn't seem like a good sign regarding the quarterback's effectiveness this week against Arizona. The Cardinal pass defense is pretty close to Detroit's in terms of yarage allowed per game, and even though Arizona's given up 27 touchdowns to Detroit's 19, expect Minnesota to lean very heavily on the running game if Jackson plays. Not only will Adrian Peterson likely get plenty of carries, Chester Taylor will get quite a few as well. Rushing-wise, Arizona has only given up 10 touchdowns on the ground.

Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress said QB Gus Frerotte (back) suffered a low back contusion during Week 14 and was "very sore" following the game. Childress was not sure if the injury could worsen.
The Huddle Take: Frerotte was injured making a tackle on one of his two interceptions. Tarvaris Jackson came on and rallied the Vikings to victory in his first extended action since losing his job to Frerotte earlier this year, and he may retain that gig even if Frerotte's back gets better.

The Associated Press reports Minnesota Vikings QB Gus Frerotte (back) suffered a back injury during the team's Week 14 game. He went 7-for-10 for 70 yards and two interceptions before leaving the game.
The Huddle Take: He's not high on the list of fantasy QBs, but it is worth noting that he could miss some time, but we won't know for sure until at least Monday. Grabbing Tavaris Jackson would be prudent if you were a Frerotte owner, just to be on the safe side.

The Associated Press reports Minnesota Vikings QB Gus Frerotte went 18-for-33 for 296 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the team's Week 6 game.
The Huddle Take: Frerotte has been serviceable since becoming the full time starter for the Vikings but one would have thought that Minnesota would have a huge offensive output against the lowly Lions. Hopefully fantasy owners have better options than counting on Frerotte but if you have to start him don't expect very many games better than this one.

Updating a previous report, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports Minnesota Vikings QB Gus Frerotte suffered a cut on his left hand in the team's Week 4 game and needed two stitches.
The Huddle Take: Frerotte absorbed a wicked shot near the end of the game and headed to the locker room with his bloody left hand wrapped in a towel. It's his non-throwing hand, so it's not a given that the Vikings will be forced to go back to Tarvaris Jackson this week. With the direct snap now back in style in the NFL, perhaps the Purple will give some thought to eliminating the middle man and simply hiking the ball to Adrian Peterson.

The Associated Press reports Minnesota Vikings QB Gus Frerotte (hand) suffered a hand injury during the team's Week 4 game.
The Huddle Take: Frerotte left the game late with a hand injury and was replaced by Tarvaris Jackson in limited action. His status will be evaluated further on Monday to find out if he will miss any time leading the Minnesota offense. Frerotte was 25/43 for 266 yards and 1 interception on the afternoon before exiting.

ESPNews reports the Minnesota Vikings have named QB Gus Frerotte their starting quarterback for the rest of the year.
The Huddle Take: Not a big surprise here. Tarvaris Jackson did show some improved play in limited pre-season action, but he regressed during his two starts once the games mattered. So for the second season Frerotte, a 15 year veteran, will be called upon from the bench. Last season he filled in for the injured Marc Bulger in St. Louis and had a couple of 3 TD games. He's not going to be a fantasy star in this run oriented offense, but he is a definite step up from Jackson and is a capable enough passer to give the Vikings passing attack a boost.
