Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan threw for 2,581 yards, 19 touchdowns and four interceptions at home this season while throwing for 2,363 yards, 19 touchdowns and three interceptions on the road.

Huddle Up: Ryan was one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL this season and should have most of his weapons back next season. He should be considered a No. 1 quarterback in all fantasy leagues in 2017.

  • Posted: 2/5/2017 8:07pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 17 of his 23 passes for 284 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-28 loss to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI Sunday, Feb. 5.

Huddle Up: Ryan's solid performance will be forgotten thanks to Atlanta's epic meltdown. Despite the loss, Ryan should still be drafted as a QB1 next year.

  • Posted: 2/5/2017 4:38pm ET

The Baltimore Ravens nearly had a deal in place to trade up for the No. 2 pick in the 2008 NFL Draft in order to select Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan, according to sources, but the deal fell through when Baltimore wouldn't include its 2009 second-round pick.

Huddle Up: It's impossible to know how Ryan's career would have turned out had he landed in Baltimore, and the only thing that matters now is that Ryan is at the helm of one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFL. He looks like a QB1 for the foreseeable future.

  • Posted: 2/4/2017 6:28pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan was named the 2016 NFL Most Valuable Player by the Associated Press Saturday, Feb. 4.

Huddle Up: Ryan has a chance to add a Super Bowl title to his list of accomplishments this season, and he looks like one of the top fantasy quarterback options heading into 2017.

  • Posted: 2/4/2017 5:18pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan was the Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year Saturday, Feb. 4. He finished the year with 4,944 passing yards and 38 touchdowns.

Huddle Up: Ryan is the engine that drives Atlanta's high-powered offensive attack, and he should be one of the safest QB1 options in 2017.

  • Posted: 2/3/2017 7:22pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan will be 'compensated well' for his performance this season, according to owner Arthur Blank, and Blank said he expects Ryan to lead the franchise for a long time.

Huddle Up: Ryan is looking to cap an MVP-caliber season with a Super Bowl win, but regardless of the outcome, he has established himself as a sure-fire QB1 heading into 2017.

  • Posted: 2/2/2017 8:12pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman and RB Tevin Coleman complement each other well and are both 'three-down backs,' according to QB Matt Ryan.

Huddle Up: Both players have established themselves as valuable fantasy contributors. Freeman looks locked in as a RB1, and Coleman is a RB2.

  • Posted: 1/31/2017 8:08pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan is 0-2 in his career against the New England Patriots. His last meeting opposing them came back in Week 4 of the 2013 season, when the Falcons were defeated, 30-23.

Huddle Up: Of course, it's a small sample size, but it's worth noting that the Patriots are just one of two teams (Pittsburgh Steelers) Ryan has not defeated since entering the league in 2008. Even so, for what it's worth, he's put up solid numbers versus the Pats in those two games, totaling 620 yards and completing 62.2 percent (51-of-82) of his passes. Odds are he'll post similar numbers in what figures to be a high-scoring Super Bowl 51.

  • Posted: 1/31/2017 4:37pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan is the only quarterback in playoff history to throw for at least three touchdowns in four straight playoff games.

Huddle Up: Ryan is proving that his MVP-worthy regular season was not a fluke. He has led the NFL's most prolific offense into the Super Bowl and has also led fantasy owners to view him as a QB1 for next season. He finished as the QB3 behind Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees.

  • Posted: 1/24/2017 9:17pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan has thrown for seven touchdowns and zero interceptions this postseason. The last six quarterbacks to register that many touchdown passes without recording an interception in the playoffs -- Joe Flacco (2012), Drew Brees (2009), Steve Young (1994), Troy Aikman (1992), Joe Montana (1989) and Phil Simms (1986) -- would all go on to win the Super Bowl that season.

Huddle Up: It makes sense, as quarterbacks that are having a dominant playoff run typically keep it going in the big game, especially when there's no weather variable to be concerned with. Then again, this could just be a coincidental trend where the law of averages might get involved and go the other way. Either way, Ryan is a solid bet to finish off his MVP-type season with a bang, and at the very least, there should be plenty of offense when the Patriots and Falcons hook up in a little less than two weeks.

  • Posted: 1/23/2017 2:34pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan's passer rating is 131.1 when he's in a clean pocket. That's the best rating in the NFL by more than 10 points.

Huddle Up: Ryan is well deserving of the MVP award after his career year in which he threw for nearly 5,000 yards. He and the Falcons were one of the most potent offenses in the league this season and Ryan cemented himself as a low-end QB1 consideration for 2017 fantasy drafts.

  • Posted: 1/22/2017 3:33pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 27-for-38 passing for 392 yards and four touchdown passes in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 22, against the Green Bay Packers. . He did not throw an interception, and Ryan added a rushing score. His 392 yards rank second all-time in an NFL conference game, behind Ryan's 2012 performance of 396 yards.

Huddle Up: Ryan has vaulted himself into the upper-echelon QB1 conversation for 2017 drafters, but it appears as though he will need to learn a new offense if coordinator Kyle Shanahan indeed takes the San Francisco 49ers' head coach position.

  • Posted: 1/22/2017 6:34am ET

The Atlanta Falcons are expected to discuss a contract extension with QB Matt Ryan during the offseason, even though he still has two years remaining on his current contract, according to multiple sources. A potential extension could make him the highest-paid player in the league, surpassing Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck's deal.

Huddle Up: The 31-year-old Ryan posted career highs in passing yards (4,944) and touchdowns (38) during the 2016 season, while throwing just seven interceptions in 534 attempts. He is one of the leading candidates for the NFL MVP award and should be viewed as an elite option in all fantasy formats.

  • Posted: 1/17/2017 4:21pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan has six consecutive seasons of at least 4,000 passing yards. That's tied for the second longest streak in NFL history. He posted a franchise record 4,944 yards in 2016.

Huddle Up: Ryan is a big reason why the Falcons are in the NFC title game. He's a top MVP candidate coming off a career season. Regression should be expected next season after such a marvelous campaign, but Ryan is still a QB1 consideration.

  • Posted: 1/14/2017 4:50pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan went 26-of-37 for 338 yards and three touchdowns in a NFC Divisional Round win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Huddle Up: Ryan took three sacks but was in total control of the Falcons' up-tempo attack otherwise, connecting with Julio Jones, Tevin Coleman and Mohamed Sanu for scores. He did nothing to hurt his argument for NFL MVP, while offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan was brilliant once again in getting the matchups he wanted. Ryan should have another field day next week if Julio Jones can play, as neither the Dallas Cowboys nor the Green Bay Packers have enough on defense to hold this passing game in check.

  • Posted: 1/1/2017 9:43pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 27 of his 36 pass attempts for 331 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 17 game against the New Orleans Saints. He also ran twice for two yards. He set a franchise record with his 4,944 yards in 2016.

Huddle Up: Ryan also added 38 touchdowns and seven interceptions, leading Atlanta to a first-round bye in the NFC playoffs. More importantly, he was a stud for fantasy owners who waited on draft day to take him in the middle to late rounds. He will also be a must-have option for those playing fantasy postseason pools.

  • Posted: 12/24/2016 3:43pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 27 of his 33 pass attempts for 277 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 16 game against the Carolina Panthers. He rushed twice for nine yards, too. Ryan broke his own franchise mark by reaching 33 touchdown passes on the season, and he also set an NFL single-season record by hitting 13 different receivers with a touchdown pass.

Huddle Up: Ryan has had a nice bounce back season for fantasy owners who waited until the late rounds to draft him, throwing for two or more touchdowns in each of his past three and 11 of his 15 games overall.

  • Posted: 12/12/2016 5:49am ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan was 18-for-28 for 237 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions Sunday, Dec. 11, against the Los Angeles Rams.

Huddle Up: He didn't even need Julio Jones (toe) to put up 42 points on the Rams. Ryan remains an elite option in fantasy.

  • Posted: 12/4/2016 2:54pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan went 22-for-34 for 297 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13. He also rushed for 23 yards on three carries during the game.

Huddle Up: Ryan has thrown for at least 250 yards in all but one game this season and has 11 touchdowns passes in his last five games. He is scheduled to face the Los Angeles Rams in his next game and can be a No. 1 quarterback in leagues.

  • Posted: 11/27/2016 2:23pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan went 26-for-34 for 269 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 12. He also rushed for 15 yards on four carries during the game.

Huddle Up: Ryan continues to be one of the top quarterbacks in fantasy leagues and has 10 touchdowns in his last four games. He will be facing a tough Kansas City Chiefs defense next week but should still be a starting option in all leagues.

  • Posted: 11/13/2016 6:30pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 18 of his 33 pass attempts for 267 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Week 10 road loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Huddle Up: Ryan was bothered all day by the Eagles pass rush and this game marked just the third time in 10 starts where he was held to one passing score. Fantasy owners will need to find a replacement in Week 11, as the Falcons have a bye.

  • Posted: 11/3/2016 10:02pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 25 of his 34 pass attempts for 344 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 9 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Thursday, Nov. 3. He also ran twice for no gain.

Huddle Up: Ryan has an improved offensive line to give him time to his receivers and it is making a huge difference. As long as Julio Jones remains healthy, Ryan is a solid low-end QB1 in most fantasy formats. The Falcons face the Philadelphia Eagles on the road in Week 10.

  • Posted: 10/30/2016 9:46pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 28 of his 35 pass attempts for 288 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 8 game against the Green Bay Packers. He also ran twice for nine yards.

Huddle Up: Ryan continues to be very effective for fantasy owners, throwing at least one touchdown in each of his eight games, and two or more scores in six of his outings. The Falcons face the Buccaneers in Thursday's Week 9 game, and it's a very favorable matchup against a pass defense which was torched for 513 yards and four touchdowns against Oakland.

  • Posted: 10/23/2016 10:54pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 22 of his 34 pass attempts for 273 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Week 7 game against the San Diego Chargers. He also ran three times for eight yards.

Huddle Up: Ryan has at least one touchdown strike in each of his seven games, throwing for 16 touchdowns and just four interceptions. He remains a solid low-end QB1 heading into Week 8 against Green Bay's beat up secondary.

  • Posted: 10/16/2016 11:52pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan wound up 27-for-42 for 335 yards and three touchdowns in a 26-24 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Ryan threw all three TDs in the third quarter, when he was 13-for-17 for 220 yards.

Huddle Up: Games like this cement Ryan's reputation as one of the better quarterbacks in football. Ryan faded slightly from view last year but appears to be back with a vengeance. He deserves to be a solid QB1 in all fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 10/9/2016 8:25pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 15 of his 28 pass attempts for 267 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the Week 5 game against the Denver Broncos. He also ran three times for three yards.

Huddle Up: Ryan took a giant step back after his 500-plus-yard performance last weekend, which obviously was going to happen against a good Denver defense. He will face another quality pass defense in Seattle in Week 6. Still, Ryan remains a quality low-end QB1 despite the difficult matchup.

  • Posted: 10/2/2016 2:19pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan went 28-for-37 for 503 yards, four touchdowns and one interception against the Carolina Panthers in Week 4.

Huddle Up: Ryan has been one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL over the first four weeks of the season with 11 touchdowns and 1,473 yards during that span. Ryan should be a starting option in all fantasy leagues while he is on this hot streak.

  • Posted: 9/30/2016 4:15pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan (thumb) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 30, and is not on the injury report for Week 4.

Huddle Up: Ryan ranks sixth in the NFL with 970 passing yards and has thrown seven touchdowns in his first three games. He will be facing one of the better defenses in the NFL this week but could still be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 9/29/2016 6:40pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan (thumb) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 29.

Huddle Up: Ryan is off to a strong start, and Atlanta's offense is firing on all cylinders. Carolina poses a tough challenge in Week 4, but he should still be considered a low-end QB1.

  • Posted: 9/28/2016 1:30pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan (thumb) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Huddle Up: Ryan should be ready to play in Week 4 despite the thumb injury but will be facing a tough Carolina Panthers defense this week. He has thrown for 970 yards and seven touchdowns in the first three games and can be a starting option for owners in deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 9/27/2016 7:41am ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan (thumb) said his injured left thumb is fine, and he put a glove on the hand in Week 3 to ensure his grip on the ball.

Huddle Up: The Falcons have the Carolina Panthers in Week 4, which will present a difficult matchup for Ryan. He'll be a midrange QB1 in fantasy.

  • Posted: 9/26/2016 9:21pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan (thumb) completed 20 of his 30 pass attempts for 240 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 3 game against the New Orleans Saints Monday, Sept. 26. He injured his thumb late in the fourth quarter and had the thumb taped while being fitted with a glove.

Huddle Up: Ryan has two 300-yard games under his belt this season, although he missed the mark Monday, and he has two or more touchdown passes in each of his three outings. He has re-emerged as a decent low-end TE1, and he had tremendous success despite Julio Jones not being his normal self Monday.

  • Posted: 9/26/2016 8:23pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan (thumb) suffered a left thumb injury in the fourth quarter of the Week 3 game against the New Orleans saints Monday, Sept. 26. He had his thumb taped up and he is wearing a left glove.

Huddle Up: Ryan has missed just two games in his career, and he has made 102 consecutive starts. He is durable, and fantasy owners can expect him to be ready in Week 4.

  • Posted: 9/11/2016 8:56pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 27 of his 39 pass attempts for 334 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Huddle Up: Ryan always has good rapport with Julio Jones, but he also jelled rather quickly with newcomer Mohamed Sanu and he connected with Tevin Coleman out of the backfield for several big plays as well. As long as all of his weapons remain healthy, Ryan should be a borderline QB1/2 in all formats going forward.

  • Posted: 9/1/2016 4:32pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan spent six weeks training with former MLB pitcher Tom House and former college pitcher Adam Dedeaux -- who have also worked with New England Patriots QB Tom Brady, New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees and Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer, to name a few with -- at the acclaimed 3DQB training facility in working to enhance his ability to throw deep. Ryan firmly believes there's a noticeable difference in his deep ball and WR Julio Jones was the first to say the quarterback's arm strength is much stronger than it was last year.

Huddle Up: Although Ryan finished in the top five in passing yards in 2015, he still had a disappointing season, registering his fewest touchdown passes since his rookie campaign. Many believe it had much to do with him trying to adjust to new offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, so at least Ryan now has some more familiarity with Shanahan's offense. Once one of the league's upper echelon signal-callers, Ryan could still be one of the best value picks at quarterback with a solid cast of weapons surrounding him, including arguably the game's best receiver in Jones, and a much-improved offensive line after the addition of center Alex Mack.

  • Posted: 8/25/2016 8:31pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 12 of his 22 passes for 129 yards and threw an interception in the red zone in a 17-6 preseason loss to the Miami Dolphins Thursday, Aug. 25.

Huddle Up: Ryan ranked fifth in passing yards last year, but his 21 touchdowns were his fewest since his rookie year. Converting in the red zone continues to be an issue, and while he has QB1 upside, Ryan is better served as a high-end backup.

  • Posted: 6/23/2016 1:13pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan has been working on increasing his comfort level with the offense this offseason. Ryan has worked in front of a mirror to try to get his feet in the right position to be able to throw the ball the way he wants to and to improve the timing of the play. He is able to watch his feet closely this way and can make sure everything is aligned correctly before dropping back.

Huddle Up: After finishing as a top-10 fantasy QB in four of the previous five years, Ryan fell way off the pace last season with only 21 TD passes. Julio Jones is going to Julio, but Ryan needs some other targets to emerge/step up in the passing game.

  • Posted: 4/19/2016 10:58pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan admitted Tuesday, April 19, that he took too long at times to process offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan's scheme in 2015. Ryan said he is excited to have Shanahan back for another season. 'As you're in a system more, you start focusing on the things that are important,' Ryan said. 'What you're going against defensively, what your keys are in protection, what you're looking for from a coverage standpoint.' Ryan also said that he thought all the players involved in a recent passing camp felt more comfortable with the offense, adding that he could tell early on that they were a lot further along than at certain points midway through last season.

Huddle Up: Ryan threw for 4,591 yards last season -- the third-highest single-season total of his career -- but had only 21 TD tosses, his lowest total since his rookie season of 2008. Look for the latter figure to regress back to the norm and approach 30 this coming season.

  • Posted: 3/29/2016 7:20pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan is getting together with WR Julio Jones, RB Devonta Freeman and other Falcons, including newly signed WR Mohamed Sanu, for passing sessions this offseason.

Huddle Up: Usually an annual fixture in the back end of the QB1 ranks, Ryan finished a disappointing 16th among fantasy QBs a season ago -- largely due to his 21 TD passes which were a seven-year low. A rebound season could be in the offing if Sanu and the other wideouts are able to better complement Jones.
