Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater is working on bulking up this offseason. 'We know where he's going to be, what he's going to be doing, in terms of lifting,' offensive coordinator Norv Turner said. 'He's never going to be a real big man, but he's going to be a guy that eventually is 220-225. He played most of the year about 212, so continue to work and get stronger and put on a few more pounds, and he will gradually, but that strength, I don't want people to think I'm talking about getting his arm stronger, no.'

Huddle Up: The extra bulk should help Bridgewater withstand more punishment, but it also likely will decrease his mobility a step or two. Regardless, though, the arrow is pointing up for the second-year QB who completed at least 68 percent of his passes in each of his last five games as a rookie.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater has the necessary arm strength to succeed in the NFL, according to offensive coordinator Norv Turner. "Teddy has all the key characteristics to be an upper echelon quarterback in this league," Turner said. "He really impressed me with how he played this year and how he continued to improve. He's got great vision, and he's got great presence in the pocket. He doesn't get rattled, and he's extremely accurate. All the things you're looking for in a quarterback."

Huddle Up: Bridgewater most definitely improved down the stretch, completing 72.3 percent of his passes and averaging 273 yards while throwing for six TDs in his final four games. He'll be an intriguing QB2 with a lot of upside in drafts next summer.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater will start at quarterback heading into next season, according to head coach Mike Zimmer. "I think we're fortunate in the fact that we learned an awful lot about Teddy this year and the progress that he's made," Zimmer said. "He's still got to get a lot better to get to where we want to go. He's got to improve in the offseason and things like that, but yeah, I think it will allow the focus to move to another spot, other spots, not one spot, but other spots, we've got a lot of spots we've got to get better at. I think that helps solidify probably the number one question that was going on at this point in time last year."

Huddle Up: This was even a question? Christian Ponder hits free agency and Matt Cassel isn't likely to return to hold a clipboard, so this is Teddy's team. And if Adrian Peterson winds up elsewhere or doesn't get reinstated, it will be even more so Teddy's team.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (ankle) won't have any concerns with his sprained left ankle in Week 6 against the Detroit Lions. He said Wednesday, Oct. 8, that he's '100 percent' after missing the Week 5 game last Thursday. Bridgewater also said he won't wear anything to protect his ankle against the Lions in his second career start. 'The training staff here has done a great job of just helping me get that strength back in my ankle,' Bridgewater said. 'On Sunday, I'll just be able to play at full speed.'

Huddle Up: The rookie will make his second career start Sunday against the Lions, and that should be good news for the rest of the Vikings' supporting offensive cast which struggled right along with Christian Ponder in last Thursday's loss to the Packers.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (ankle) is returning to practice Tuesday, Oct. 7, after missing the team's Week 5 game last Thursday, according to sources.

Huddle Up: Pencil Bridgewater in at QB this Sunday vs. the visiting Lions and scratch Christian Ponder -- a move that should be good for the Vikings' surrounding offensive fantasy cast all-around.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (ankle) should be ready to start in Week 6, head coach Mike Zimmer said Thursday, Oct. 2.

Huddle Up: Vikings fans, as well as anyone forced to watch Thursday night football, say thank you.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (ankle) wants to play in Week 5 but will be a game-time decision. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Bridgewater is unlikely to play, and the signs are pointing to QB Christian Ponder starting against the Green Bay Packers. The Vikings want to make sure they are limiting the danger for Bridgewater.

Huddle Up: Given the short week, Bridgewater's mobility would be limited even if does play, and that certainly wouldn't be in the best fantasy interests of the rookie QB's owners. There remains a glimmer of hope if you really need him, but expect Ponder to start tonight.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (ankle) could be a game-time decision in Week 5 against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, Oct. 2. Head coach Mike Zimmer said the team doesn't want to put him at risk for the rest of the season.

Huddle Up: Going by Zimmer's comment, it certainly doesn't sound promising for Bridgewater and his fantasy owners, who are going to have be on top of the situation during tomorrow's pre-game to see if the rookie or Christian Ponder gets the starting call at Lambeau.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (ankle) and head coach Mike Zimmer are 'hopeful' that the quarterback can play in Week 5 against the Green Bay Packers Thursday, Oct. 2. Bridgewater sprained his left ankle early in the fourth quarter in Week 4, but Zimmer said an MRI exam came back negative. Bridgewater was feeling much better Monday, Sept. 29. He threw for 317 yards against the Atlanta Falcons in his first start.

Huddle Up: Bridgewater looked good feasting on a terrible Falcons defense. He has another good matchup this week against Green Bay but he's still a QB2 at this point until we saw a larger sample size from him.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (ankle) did not participate in practice Monday, Sept. 29. QB Christian Ponder worked with the first-team offense during practice.

Huddle Up: It's short week with the Vikes playing Thursday night, so the rookie will have to get on the field over the next few days to have a decent shot at playing in Green Bay. See what develops.

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (ankle) said Sunday, Sept. 28, that his ankle is 'just a sprain' and he expects to play in the Week 5 game Thursday, Oct. 2 against the Green Bay Packers.

Huddle Up: Sprains are tricky and Bridgewater has a short week to get ready. However, the good news is Bridgewater hasn't suffered a serious injury coming off his impressive NFL debut. If you're looking for QB help, Bridgewater is a waiver wire target this week.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater completed six of his 13 pass attempts for 49 yards in his preseason debut Friday, Aug. 8, against the Oakland Raiders. He did not throw any touchdown passes, nor did he toss any interceptions. The rookie out of Louisville was also sacked twice.

Huddle Up: Bridgewater's first pass was a nice 21-yard completion but it was called back because of a penalty. Things only went downhill from there. Bridgewater's receivers didn't help him out with some drops but the rookie will need a much better performance in his next preseason game to stay in the hunt for the starting job.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater will take over as the team's starting quarterback in Week 4 after QB Matt Cassel (foot) suffered fractured bones in his foot in Week 3 against the New Orleans Saints.

Huddle Up: Bridgewater will get the rest of 2014 to show the Vikings what he can do. If nothing else, Bridgewater's mobility in the pocket should give the struggling Minnesota offense a boost.

  • Posted: 8/22/2014 2:11pm ET

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater is the team's No. 2 quarterback, and the team is confident with him there. QB Christian Ponder could be traded if he performs well enough.

Huddle Up: At this point, Bridgewater only has significant value in keeper and/or dynasty leagues unless you believe starter Matt Cassel is going to flop right out of the gate.

  • Posted: 8/5/2014 11:51pm ET

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater needs to get rid of the football quicker, according to head coach Mike Zimmer. Offensive coordinator Norv Turner's offensive scheme emphasizes a quick release.

Huddle Up: All eyes in the Twin Cities will be on the first-round draft pick this preseason as tries to overtake veteran Matt Cassel for the Vikes' starting gig.

  • Posted: 6/25/2014 12:07am ET

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater clarified his comments that he did not want to get drafted by the Cleveland Browns. "I think it was misinterpreted," he said. "What I was saying was I had a strong feeling about the Minnesota Vikings. I was able to meet with them five or six times in the pre-draft visits. I just had a pretty solid feeling about the Minnesota Vikings, but, you know, I try to put the pre-draft stuff behind and try to just focus on my career with the Minnesota Vikings."

Huddle Up: Bridgewater is definitely in a better situation with Adrian Peterson, Greg Jennings, Cordarelle Patterson and Kyle Rudolph among the Vikings' weapons. Now, we'll see if he can beat out vet Matt Cassel for the starting gig.
