Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Rick Dennison said he likes 'ball possession' and believes RB LeSean McCoy, the running game and the offensive line are the strengths of the offense.

Huddle Up: After topping 1,200 yard and scoring 13 times last year, it sounds like McCoy could be busy again in 2017. He should be the focal point of a run-first offense and a midrange RB1.

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy is absent from voluntary workouts this week, and head coach Sean McDermott said he didn't know when McCoy would report. McDermott said he was encouraged by his conversations with McCoy since he took over as coach.

Huddle Up: Shady had the best year he has had in three or four years with a career-high 5.4 yards per rush, 1,267 rushing yards, 13 scores and a 50-356-1 line through the air. Injuries are always a concern with him, though. He's a midrange RB1 in fantasy.

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy was absent from the first day of offseason workouts Monday, April 3.

Huddle Up: McCoy posted on his Instagram that it's his son's fifth birthday, so there's nothing to worry about on that front. McCoy is a midrange RB1 but has had some health concerns of late.

  • Posted: 2/26/2017 4:51pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy sent out a tweet Sunday, Feb. 26, which said, 'Buffalo was so special.' However, a source with knowledge of the situation said that the tweet referred to an autograph signing and not McCoy's future with the team.

Huddle Up: McCoy is coming off an excellent all-around season, and he is a RB1 candidate heading into 2017.

  • Posted: 2/17/2017 6:32am ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy could be a surprise cut this offseason, in the opinion of NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal. McCoy isn't a perfect fit in offensive coordinator Rick Dennison's one-cut running system. If McCoy is designated as a post-June 1 cut, the team recoups $6.25 million in cap room.

Huddle Up: McCoy quietly had a big year. His 5.4 yards per rush was the best of his career. He had 1,267 rushing yards, 14 total TDs, 50 grabs and 356 receiving yards. He's 29 this year, and injuries are always a concern. However, he re-established his RB1 value.

  • Posted: 2/4/2017 10:06am ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy said he believes he is the best running back in the NFL if he is healthy.

Huddle Up: McCoy ranked sixth in the NFL with his 1,267 rushing yards and fourth in rushing touchdowns even though he missed one game because of an injury. He also caught 50 passes for 356 yards and one touchdown. He should continue to be one of the top running backs in the league and should be a No. 1 running back for all owners.

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy rushed for 11 of his 13 touchdowns at home this season.

Huddle Up: McCoy was one of the best running back in the NFL this season, finishing in the top 10 in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. McCoy should continue to be a focal point on offense under head coach Sean McDermott and likely will be one of the first running back taken in fantasy drafts.

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (ankle) suffered a high ankle sprain during the team's Week 17 game, according to interim head coach Anthony Lynn.

He also caught 50 passes for 356 yards and one touchdown. McCoy will be selected in the first round of all drafts next season.

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (ankle) suffered a right high ankle sprain in the Week 17 game against the New York Jets in the second quarter and he was unable to return. X-rays were negative, but he never returned.

Huddle Up: Shady finished the season with 1,267 rushing yards with 13 touchdowns while adding 50 catches for 356 yards and another score. He managed to play in 15 games, but was in and out of the lineup on several occasions. Despite the nagging injuries, he remains a top RB1 heading into the 2017 season.

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (ankle) rushed for 10 yards on five carries against the New York Jets in Week 17.

Huddle Up: McCoy had a chance to return to the game, so it does not like he is dealing with a serious injury. He should be fine for training camp and will be a first-round pick in all fantasy drafts.

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (ankle) has a chance to return to the team's Week 17 game after undergoing an X-ray on his injured ankle. He was originally ruled out for the rest of the game.

Huddle Up: McCoy probably would receive limited carries if he does return, which would help fantasy owners that have him in their lineups. McCoy will be a first-round draft pick next season.

  • Posted: 1/1/2017 10:56am ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (ankle) suffered an ankle injury in Week 17 and has been ruled out for the rest of the game.

Huddle Up: McCoy will have plenty of time to recovery from the injury and should be ready for training camp next season. He was one of the better running backs in fantasy in 2016 and should be a first-round pick in all leagues next season.

  • Posted: 12/29/2016 9:08am ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (illness) is participating in practice Thursday, Dec. 29.

Huddle Up: McCoy should receive plenty of work against the New York Jets and has been one of the most valuable running backs in fantasy over the last month. He should be a No. 1 running back in all fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 12/28/2016 12:01pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (illness) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 28.

Huddle Up: McCoy should be able to play in Week 17 as long as he can recover from his illness. He has rushed for at least 100 yards in four of his last five games and has four touchdowns in his last three game. McCoy is a must-start option against the New York Jets.

  • Posted: 12/24/2016 3:01pm ET

  • Posted: 12/23/2016 1:12pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 23, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

Huddle Up: McCoy has been one of the best running back in fantasy over the last month with three 100-yard performances and five touchdowns in the last four games. McCoy should be a No. 1 running back in all leagues no matter the opponent.

  • Posted: 12/22/2016 5:10pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (knee) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 22.

Huddle Up: McCoy is coming off a big performance, and he draws a friendly matchup against Miami in Week 16. He should be a low-end RB1 against one of the worst run defenses in the league.

  • Posted: 12/21/2016 12:36pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (knee) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Huddle Up: McCoy should continue to receive plenty of touches since he has rushed for at least 100 yards in three of his last four games. He likely will be a No. 1 running back in all fantasy leagues in Week 16.

  • Posted: 12/18/2016 2:12pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 15. He also caught three passes for 16 yards during the game.

Huddle Up: McCoy rushed for at least 100 yards in three of his last four games and has five touchdowns in that span. He should be a No. 1 running back in all leagues no matter the matchup.

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy rushed for 27 yards and one touchdown on 12 carries against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14. He also caught six passes for 81 yards during the game.

Huddle Up: McCoy struggled on the ground but was a big factor in the passing game. He has rushed for four touchdowns in his last four games and has 142 receiving yards over the last two games. McCoy will have a very favorable matchup in Week 15 against the Cleveland Browns and should be a No. 1 back in all leagues.

  • Posted: 12/6/2016 5:18pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy surpassed 1,000 yards from scrimmage on the season in Week 13. It's his seventh season accomplishing such a feat. The only season in which he did not total 1,000 yards from scrimmage was his rookie year (945 total yards).

Huddle Up: Unfortunately for McCoy owners, he was vulture twice last week by Mike Gillislee. Gillislee has proven to be a valuable handcuff, but McCoy remains an every-week starter. He's in low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 territory heading into Week 14 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

  • Posted: 12/4/2016 10:36pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (undisclosed) was able to return to the Week 13 game against the Oakland Raiders after leaving with an undisclosed injury, and he finished strong. He ended up with 17 carries for 130 yards and seven receptions for 61 yards, both team highs.

Huddle Up: McCoy remains a RB1 in all fantasy formats as long as he can stay healthy. Lately that has been the only concern using Shady on a regular basis.

  • Posted: 12/4/2016 3:22pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (undisclosed) was shaken up after a run in the third quarter of the Week 13 game against the Oakland Raiders. He was down for a few moments and being attended to by trainers.

Huddle Up: It's uncertain what the issue is with Shady right now, but his leg buckled rather awkwardly upon being tackled. When there is more information we'll pass it along to you. Mike Gillislee, who already has two touchdown runs in the game, will benefit the most if Shady cannot return.

  • Posted: 11/27/2016 6:00pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (thumb) posted 19 runs for 103 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 12 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He also added two receptions for 31 yards on his two targets.

Huddle Up: Shady started out a little slow, and perhaps he was tentative after having a splint on his surgically repaired thumb. As the game progressed, however, he looked like himself. He remains a must-start in all fantasy leagues heading into Week 13.

  • Posted: 11/27/2016 8:06am ET

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (thumb) will wear a splint on his injured thumb during the team's Week 12 game, according to a source.

Huddle Up: McCoy is expected to receive most of the work at running back this week unless he suffers a setback during the game. Owners should consider him a No. 1 running back in most leagues.

  • Posted: 11/27/2016 7:46am ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (thumb) will play in Week 12's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He is expected to see a heavier workload than normal because RB Mike Gillislee (hamstring) will not be active.

Huddle Up: McCoy was limited in practice throughout the week while recovering from a dislocated thumb and was listed as questionable on the injury report. He should be viewed as a high-end RB2 in all fantasy formats.

  • Posted: 11/25/2016 2:51pm ET

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (thumb) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 25, and is listed as questionable for Week 12.

Huddle Up: McCoy probably will receive most of the work against the Jacksonville Jaguars since Mike Gillislee has been ruled out. It is not known how much the thumb injury will affect McCoy's play, but he should still be considered a No. 2 running back in most leagues.

  • Posted: 11/25/2016 11:22am ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (thumb) will be 'ready to get the majority of the reps' in Week 12, according to head coach Rex Ryan, who added, 'I think (McCoy's) thumb is fine.'

Huddle Up: This is what we have been led to believe all week, but it is always nice to get confirmation from the head coach. With backup Mike Gillislee and Robert Woods both ruled out and Sammy Watkins not ready to assume a full complement of snaps yet, the Bills need McCoy to carry the offense for now. Although his receiving numbers could take a hit in the nature of his injury, 'Shady' is poised to put up RB1 numbers again this week.

  • Posted: 11/24/2016 12:13pm ET

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (thumb) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 24.

Huddle Up: McCoy appears to be on track to play in Week 12 and may receive most of the work at running back despite the injury. McCoy can be a No. 2 running back or a flex option depending on the playing time he receives.

  • Posted: 11/24/2016 9:12am ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (thumb) is participating in practice Thursday, Nov. 24.

Huddle Up: McCoy probably will be able to play this week, but he may have a limited role since his thumb injury may affect his play. He can be a No. 2 running back or a flex option if he is active.

  • Posted: 11/23/2016 9:18am ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (thumb) will see limited work in practice Wednesday, Nov. 23. Head coach Rex Ryan said one of the challenges would be to keep McCoy's thumb away from infection.

Huddle Up: McCoy faces a Jacksonville Jaguars team in the midrange against the RB position the last five weeks. However, there has to be serious concern starting a back that had surgery on his thumb the same week. How will he be as a receiver? Can he hang on to the football? Will he see a limited role? These are all questions to consider, and he's a risky RB2.

  • Posted: 11/21/2016 6:45am ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (thumb) had a procedure done on his dislocated thumb Monday, Nov. 21, but barring something unexpected, he's expected to play in Week 12.

Huddle Up: The Bills face the Jacksonville Jaguars next week in what is a decent matchup for McCoy. The Jags are in the bottom half of the league at defending the position the last five weeks.

  • Posted: 11/20/2016 1:47pm ET

Updating previous report, Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (thumb) suffered a dislocated thumb in Week 11, but the team does not seem concerned about the injury, according to sources.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to look for a possible timetable for McCoy over the next few days, but it appears like he may not miss a lot of playing time. McCoy will should be a starting option if he plays in Week 11, but Mike Gillislee could be a flex option in McCoy is ruled out.

  • Posted: 11/20/2016 12:24pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (thumb) will miss the rest of the game Sunday, Nov. 20, against the Cincinnati Bengals due to a thumb injury.

Huddle Up: McCoy owners may want to go out and get Mike Gillislee as insurance, as Gillislee just became the No. 1 RB in Buffalo as long as McCoy is out.

  • Posted: 11/20/2016 11:30am ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (thumb) suffered a thumb injury in Week 11 and is considered questionable to return.

Huddle Up: The severity of McCoy's injury is not known at this point, so owners should monitor the situation. McCoy is one of the better running backs in fantasy and is a must-start option if he is healthy. Mike Gillislee would receive most of the work if McCoy misses time and can be a flex option.

  • Posted: 11/7/2016 9:26pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy rushed 21 times for 85 yards in the Week 9 game against the Seattle Seahawks Monday, Nov. 7. He also hauled in four receptions for 35 yards on five targets.

Huddle Up: Shady has been nicked up, but he fought through his hamstring injury and put up a solid amount of yardage against a good defense. He is a tremendous RB1 in all fantasy formats when active, although you'll need to make other plans in Week 10 with Shady and the Bills on a bye.

  • Posted: 11/7/2016 4:19pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) is officially active for the team's Week 9 game.

Huddle Up: It is not known if McCoy will be limited during the game, but he probably will receive most of the work at running back. He will be a risky option for owners but can still be a No. 2 running back in most fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 11/7/2016 12:15pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) is expected to be active Monday, Nov. 7, against the Seattle Seahawks to wrap up Week 10, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Huddle Up: We'll see for sure when the inactive list is announced about 90 minutes before the start of the game, but it would be very surprising at this point if he doesn't go and log his usual 20 touches. Even in a difficult matchup, 'Shady' is a solid RB2 option this week.

  • Posted: 11/5/2016 9:29am ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) logged a third consecutive practice Saturday, Nov. 5, and is expected to play in Week 9 versus the Seattle Seahawks despite being labeled as questionable on the injury report.

Huddle Up: McCoy is a near-lock for roughly 20 touches per week and this week should be no different, making him no worse than a high-floor RB2 despite the unforgiving matchup. Mike Gillislee will return to a pure relief role and should be benched in fantasy.

  • Posted: 11/4/2016 6:21pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) is 'really close' to returning, according to head coach Rex Ryan, and Ryan said he feels McCoy will play against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9.

Huddle Up: McCoy draws a tough matchup and will likely be less than 100 percent if he does suit up. He is no more than a flex option if he plays.

  • Posted: 11/4/2016 5:42pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 4.

Huddle Up: McCoy is a risky option for owners since the team plays on Monday Night Football, so owners will need to keep an eye on the situation this weekend. He should be a starting option in all leagues if he plays, but owners will need to have other options available in case he is not able to play.

  • Posted: 11/4/2016 6:23am ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) said he feels ready to return in Week 9.

Huddle Up: That doesn't mean he'll play this week after re-injuring his hamstring. The Bills face off against the Seattle Seahawks, and it won't be an easy draw for McCoy. He's a risky flex option if he suits up.

  • Posted: 11/3/2016 7:04pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

Huddle Up: McCoy has an extra day with this one being played on Monday night, so that is encouraging. However, with an upcoming bye week after the Seattle game, there is little reason to chance it from Buffalo's perspective.

  • Posted: 11/3/2016 8:48am ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) will be a limited participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

Huddle Up: Shady appears closer to returning. If it's this week, he'll have a tough draw against the Seattle Seahawks. This may not be the week to activate him, but you probably have to unless you're stacked at the position.

  • Posted: 10/31/2016 2:46pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) has made progress and head coach Rex Ryan hopes McCoy will be back to practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

Huddle Up: McCoy's practice status will be telling this week. If he practices then he could very well be limited in order to lessen the risk of aggravation. Mike Gillislee may still have a decent role in Week 9, so don't release him even if McCoy is active. This situation is far from solidified.

  • Posted: 10/30/2016 6:51am ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) could return for Week 9's game against the Seattle Seahawks. He has already been ruled out for Week 8 versus the New England Patriots.

Huddle Up: The Bills play on Monday night in Week 9, giving McCoy a little extra time to recover from his left hamstring injury. Mike Gillislee will remain the starter for as long as McCoy is sidelined and should be viewed as a RB2 or flex option in all fantasy formats.

  • Posted: 10/29/2016 10:33pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) will not play in Week 8 against the New England Patriots, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. McCoy was officially listed as doubtful.

Huddle Up: This was always the likely scenario, but now you can pencil in Mike Gillislee as the Bills' top back against the Pats. Look for Gillislee to get plenty of touches in what figures to be a physical game, and consider him an RB2.

  • Posted: 10/28/2016 10:46am ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) did not practice at all this week and is listed as doubtful for Week 8 versus the New England Patriots.

Huddle Up: We'll see if the Bills do the right thing this week. His absence from practice all week suggests he won't play, so Mike Gillislee needs to be in lineups for a Buffalo offense short on playmakers and ravaged by injuries. Gillislee should see enough volume to be a RB2, but his matchup is a difficult one.

  • Posted: 10/28/2016 7:54am ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) is out of practice Friday, Oct. 28.

Huddle Up: Mike Gillislee (foot) is also banged up, but he's likely to see a decent role if he's able to suit up against the New England Patriots. Reggie Bush could also be a factor, but his age restricts the amount of work he's likely able to see. Gillislee is a flex consideration, but it's a risky one.

  • Posted: 10/27/2016 11:19am ET

Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan said he is not sure about RB LeSean McCoy's (hamstring) availability for Week 8 and that team will see how he progresses over the next few days.

Huddle Up: It appears like McCoy may be a game-time decision again, so owners will need to check the inactive list. He was not able to finish the last game because of the injury, which makes him a risky option for Week 8. Owners may want to consider other options to use in their lineups.
