Charles Chandler, of The Charlotte Observer, reports there has been no indication the Carolina Panthers plan to re-sign free-agent WR Muhsin Muhammad. Muhammad, an unrestricted free agent, turns 36 in May.

The Huddle Take: Muhammy was running on fumes last year, and it would be surprising if any team throws a nibble his way.

David Scott, of the Charlotte Observer, reports Carolina Panthers WR Muhsin Muhammad said his sprained knee continues to be sore. He was held to a six-yard reception Week 12.

The Huddle Take: It's more than just a knee injury that's limiting Muhammed, who is on the downside of his career and is fielding throws from Jake Delhomme. Hey, at least he's still a good downfield blocker.

Charles Chandler, of the Charlotte Observer, reports Carolina Panthers WR Muhsin Muhammad is still far from ready to talk about retirement, even though he is 36 years old. Muhammad said, "I think I still have some good, good years of football in me. You get what you get with me. I'm going to be a great blocker. I'm going to catch some tough balls. I'm going to make some big plays here and there, and just go out and play with a lot of fun and enthusiasm." Muhammad said he plans to continue playing "until the wheels fall off." He added, "I'll just let my body and probably management or teams tell me when it's time to quit. If you can do it, do it. If not, then it's time to hang it up."

The Huddle Take: Muhammad seems to know his limitations, and while he's not much of a fantasy factor he's a perfect fit for the Carolina offense: a solid blocker who won't complain about a lack of balls coming his way but who makes the most of his opportunities. It's surprising the wide receiver community doesn't kick him out for conduct unbecoming.

Andrew Mason, of Panthers.com, reports Carolina Panthers WR Muhsin Muhammad was able to take part in the team's practice Wednesday, Nov. 11, but he admitted he is still not 100 percent. Muhammad said, "Obviously, you just want to be cautious and you want to get healed up 100 percent. I'm not quite 100 percent, but I did go out and practice (Wednesday) and I was able to run around a little bit. I'm not 100 percent sure on the game yet. I still need to get out and get another day of work in and make sure it's healing up right."

The Huddle Take: Muhammad is a secondary target on a run-first team; as such he has limited fantasy value regardless of how healthy he might be.

Panthers.com reports Carolina Panthers WR Muhsin Muhammad (knee) did not travel with the team for their Week 9 game.

The Huddle Take: Just in case you were planning to start him, he won't be playing. Dwayne Jarrett will start and is a deep option if bye weeks are killing your roster this week.

CarolinaGrowl.com reports Carolina Panthers WR Muhsin Muhammad said he believes the offense is somehow indicating to defenses when the Panthers are going to pass. 'From what I've been seeing defenses are dropping a lot more guys into coverage and, I don't know if it's based on our formations, or the quarterback's drop or what kind of keys they're getting, but the safeties have typically been reading and then trying to drop back into coverage and reading pass. Something is giving them a pass key and they are just double-teaming the pass. It doesn't always start off like Cover 2, but it winds up in Cover 2 or some sort of man with Cover 2, that kind of thing,' Muhammad said.

The Huddle Take: Well that could be one factor in the dismal Panthers passing attack this season. It also doesn't help that QB Delhomme is playing poorly and teams are able to constantly double team Carolina's only decent down field receiver - Steve Smith. The Panthers have a lot to fix and don't get much of a break this week as they face a statistically strong Buffalo pass defense.
