Updating a previous report, The Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Ravens LB Ray Lewis signed a seven-year contract worth $44.5 million with $12.25 million in bonuses, according to the NFL Players Association. The Ravens likely are looking at the contract as a three-year deal but are spreading the pro-rated bonuses over seven seasons. Lewis will earn $22 million over the first three seasons, which was originally reported.
The Huddle Take: With the deal Lewis will likely remain a Raven for the remainder of his NFL career. There is no questioning his abilities as he remains one of the most feared defensive players in the entire league. Look for the talented linebacker to rebound from his injuries and return to form in 2009.

ESPNews reports the Baltimore Ravens have reached an agreement in principle with unrestricted free-agent LB Ray Lewis. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
The Huddle Take: This is certainly big news for the Ravens as the heart and soul of their defense will remain in Baltimore for the foreseeable future. It would be hard to imagine Lewis playing for any other team and it appears with this latest contract he will likely end his career in Baltimore.

The Baltimore Sun reports the Dallas Cowboys are believed to be very interested in pursuing Baltimore Ravens LB Ray Lewis, who could become a free agent this offseason. The Cowboys reportedly would be willing to give Lewis a three-year deal worth between $27 and $30 million, with $25 million guaranteed.
The Huddle Take: With the perrenial Pro-Bowler Lewis on the downside of a stellar career, the Ravens may be apt to let the heart and soul of their defensive unit out of town. The team could also decide to place the franchise tag on the veteran linebacker if they decide to bring him back in 2009. Stay tuned in the offseason for more developments.
