Updating a previous report, Adam Schefter of the NFL Network, reports the New England Patriots have agreed to terms with unrestricted free-agent CB Shawn Springs. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
The Huddle Take: New England's secondary was a mess last season; Springs offers immediate assistance in that area.

The Washington Post reports Redskins CB Shawn Springs has been told he will be released from the final year of his deal, making him an unrestricted free agent. The move saves the team $6 million in salary cap space.
The Huddle Take: You knew somebody had to go to make room for DeAngelo Hall and Albert Haynesworth. Springs has already received interest from, among others, the Cowboys and Patriots.
