New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (back) said he'll be ready for offseason workouts.

Huddle Up: The injuries are starting to really pile up on Gronk, who turns 28 in May. He's one of the best players in fantasy when healthy, but you really have to back him up with an upside tight end.

  • Posted: 2/24/2017 10:56am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (back) told ESPN's Cari Champion on Friday, Feb. 24, he has 'no doubt' he will be ready for the start of the 2017 season.

Huddle Up: The 27-year-old Gronkowski is recovering from his third back surgery since 2009 and his eighth surgery overall, but he remains undaunted in his quest to dominate NFL defenses. Gronk was rarely ever completely healthy in 2016 and was limited to eight games, finishing with 25 catches for 540 yards and three touchdowns. Assuming he is cleared in time to start the opener, Gronkowski should return to the top of the heap at his position and be a worthy top-20 pick in fantasy again.

  • Posted: 2/4/2017 1:14pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski said he plans on playing as long as he can even though he has dealt with multiple injuries during his career.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski has missed as least one game in each of the last five season and has played seven or fewer games in two of the last four seasons. Gronkowski probably is the No. 1 tight end when he is healthy, but he will be a risky option in fantasy drafts next season because of his injury history.

  • Posted: 12/15/2016 8:24am ET

Updating previous reports, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski's (back) surgery wasn't as major as his previous two back operations, according to his brother, Dan Gronkowski.

Huddle Up: Gronk is out for the season, and he'll be an option early in drafts next season with a big caution flag.

  • Posted: 12/3/2016 1:28pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (back) was placed on the Reserve/Injured Reserve list Saturday, Dec. 3, according to source. The team also re-signed free-agent RB D.J. Foster. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski will miss the rest of the season, so he can be dropped in all leagues. Martellus Bennett will serve as the Patriots' No. 1 tight end and should be a starting option in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 12/1/2016 6:52pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (back) is not expected to play again this season, according to a team statement.

Huddle Up: Grab Martellus Bennett where available. He should be a TE1 the rest of the way.

  • Posted: 12/1/2016 10:45am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (back) suffered a herniated disc during the team's Week 13 game and will need to undergo surgery Friday, Dec. 2, according to a source. There is no timetable for his return.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski likely will miss the rest of the season because of the injury. Fantasy owners will need to find other options to use in their starting lineups and can drop Gronkowski if they need the roster space. Martellus Bennett should have a bigger role in the Patriots' passing game and will be a No. 1 tight end moving forward.

  • Posted: 11/30/2016 9:58pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (back) was unable to attend an event Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Boston Children's Hospital due to the recommendation of the team's medical staff, as he continues to recover from a back injury. He has been cleared to attend a separate event later in the week, however.

Huddle Up: It's uncertain if Gronk will be able to practice in full at any point this week, but being cleared for an outside event after previous restrictions sounds like a step forward. It will be a game-time decision, most likely, for the stud fantasy option who has a propensity for injury.

  • Posted: 11/30/2016 11:13am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (back, chest) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 30.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski suffered a back injury early in the team's Week 12 game and was not able to return, so owners should check on his status later in the week. He may be limited if he is active this week, so owners may want to look at healthier options if Gronkowski does not practice this week.

  • Posted: 11/27/2016 3:17pm ET

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (back) will not return to the Week 12 game against the New York Jets after leaving the game in the first quarter due to a back ailment.

Huddle Up: Gronk entered the game banged up after missing the Week 11 outing due to a perforated lung, and now this. Fantasy owners of Gronk cannot seem to catch a break down the stretch of the regular season.

  • Posted: 11/27/2016 2:11pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (back, chest) left the team's Week 12 game early because of a back injury and is considered questionable to return.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to monitor the situation to see if Gronkowski has a chance to return to the game. He entered the game with a chest injury and was a risky option for fantasy owners. Gronkowski is a must-start option when healthy, but owners will need other options ready in case he misses time.

  • Posted: 11/27/2016 12:19pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (chest) is officially active for the team's Week 12 game.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski has been dealing with his chest injury for a few weeks, which makes him a risky option this week. Gronkowski may receive limited playing time during the game but should still be considered a No. 1 tight end in most leagues.

  • Posted: 11/27/2016 6:36am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (chest) is expected to play in Week 12's game against the New York Jets, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski was a limited participant in practice throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. He is a somewhat risky fantasy option this afternoon and those who choose to start him should lower their expectations.

  • Posted: 11/26/2016 11:38am ET

Updating a previous story, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (chest) made the trip to New York on Saturday, Nov. 26. Gronkowski was not cleared to fly last week on the team's cross-country trip to visit the San Francisco 49ers.

Huddle Up: It confirms Gronkowski is at worst a game-time decision, as was reported earlier. It also means he is trending in the right direction, so owners can feel good about the odds they'll have him back next week at the latest. Just like about any other time he sees the field, Gronkowski is an elite TE1 play if he suits up.

  • Posted: 11/26/2016 9:33am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (chest) has 'made a lot of progress' in the last 24 to 48 hours, but he is still expected to be a 'true game-time decision' in Week 12 against the New York Jets, according to sources.

Huddle Up: Owners have little choice but to continue waiting for more updates, although they should plan to be without Gronkowski another week. Martellus Bennett would take over for him if sits and be a high-upside play if he does, but New England virtually ignored him in a great spot last week. Obviously, if Gronkowski is cleared to play, he needs to be started in all leagues.

  • Posted: 11/25/2016 2:34pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (chest) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 25, and is listed as questionable for Week 12.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski could be a game-time decision for Week 12, so owners should keep an eye on the situation over the next few days. Gronkowski is a one of the top tight ends when he is healthy but will be a risky option if he is active. Owners can still start him if he is uniform but should lower expectations.

  • Posted: 11/24/2016 2:22pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (chest) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 24.

Huddle Up: Gronk will be one of the bigger names to track before Sunday's slate. If he is unable to play then Martellus Bennet will start for a second consecutive week. Whoever starts will be a TE1 option in a good matchup with the New York Jets.

  • Posted: 11/23/2016 2:36pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (chest) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 23.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski missed last week's game, so owners will need to check on his status later in the week. He is a must-start option when he is healthy but will be a risky option this week if he is active.

  • Posted: 11/23/2016 8:38am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (chest) is likely to miss his second straight game in Week 12 as the team is preparing the offense without him for the New York Jets.

Huddle Up: Martellus Bennett only had one catch for 14 yards with Gronk out last week. The Jets are pretty good against the position the last five weeks as well. Bennett is still a solid TE1, but the team spreads it around so much that it's tough to bank on him.

  • Posted: 11/18/2016 4:43pm ET

Updating previous reports, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (chest) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 18, and has been ruled out for Week 11.

Huddle Up: Martellus Bennett is expected to receive most of the work at tight end with Gronkowski sidelined and will be an attractive option for fantasy owners. He can be a No. 1 tight end in all fantasy leagues if he is active.

  • Posted: 11/18/2016 2:30pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (chest) did not travel with the team on their flight to San Francisco.

Huddle Up: This all but rules out Gronk from New England's Week 11 tilt with the 49ers. It's a tough break for his fantasy owners in what should be a very juicy matchup for the Patriots offense. Gronkowski's absence will solidify Martellus Bennett as an enticing TE1 for the upcoming weekend.

  • Posted: 11/18/2016 8:13am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (chest) is out of practice Friday, Nov. 18.

Huddle Up: There was little hope for him to play this week, and he's probably all but certain to miss the game against the San Francisco 49ers. Martellus Bennett is an elite option at the position this week.

  • Posted: 11/17/2016 10:33am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (chest) is not participating in practice Thursday, Nov. 17.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski probably will not be able to play in Week 11, but owners should continue to monitor the situation in case he makes significant progress in his recovery. Martellus Bennett will be a very attractive option for owners if Gronkowski sits out and should be a starter in all leagues.

  • Posted: 11/16/2016 11:10am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (chest) was not participating during the media access portion of practice Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Huddle Up: Owners should know more about Gronkowski's status later in the week, so they will need to monitor the situation. He probably will be a risky option if he is active for Week 11 but can still be a starting option in most leagues. Martellus Bennett would see a boost in value if Gronkowski is ruled out and should be a No. 1 tight end.

  • Posted: 11/16/2016 5:56am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (chest) had to cancel a media appearance Tuesday, Nov. 15, because he wasn't cleared to fly.

Huddle Up: The Pats travel to San Francisco this week, and Gronk is extremely doubtful to play. Martellus Bennett becomes an elite option at the position in fantasy, and Dion Lewis should also be a big factor in the passing game. Lewis, if he's without restrictions, is a low-end RB2 in PPR this week.

  • Posted: 11/15/2016 6:30am ET

Updating previous reports, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (chest) has what has been described to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport as a 'perforated lung.' That is a small puncture, and the prognosis is the same with minimal time expected to be missed.

Huddle Up: The Pats take on the hapless San Francisco 49ers this week, and there's little reason to rush Gronk back. Martellus Bennett becomes an elite option at the position in fantasy, and Dion Lewis should also be a big factor in the passing game. Lewis, if he's without restrictions, is a low-end RB2 in PPR this week.

  • Posted: 11/14/2016 9:41pm ET

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (chest) has a chest injury, not a punctured lung, and a source said Monday, Nov. 14, that the injury is considered 'not overly serious.'

Huddle Up: It sounded grim earlier in the day, and appeared Gronk might miss playing time as a result of the injury. A chest injury, perhaps just a bruise, is great news. We'll monitor Gronk's practice status closely and give you the latest as we know it.

  • Posted: 11/14/2016 3:55pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (lung) suffered what is believed to be a punctured lung in Week 10, according to a source. The tight end finished the game, but he could miss the Week 11 contest versus the San Francisco 49ers.

Huddle Up: With Gronk hurting, Martellus Bennett ended up with seven catches for 102 yards in Week 10. He will start with Gronk expected to miss next week's contest and is immediately back in TE1 territory. In the first two games in which Gronk didn't play earlier this season, Bennett totaled eight catches for 128 yards and a touchdown.

  • Posted: 11/13/2016 10:30pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski posted three receptions for 56 yards in the Week 10 game against the Seattle Seahawks. He was targeted six times, including on the final offensive play from the 1-yard line on a pass to the end zone that just missed from QB Tom Brady.

Huddle Up: Gronk's yardage total was his worst since Oct. 2, and he failed to visit the end zone for the first time in four games. Despite the mediocre stat line he remains an obvious must-start in all leagues heading into Week 11 against the San Francisco 49ers. Expect a nice bounce back game.

  • Posted: 11/13/2016 6:44pm ET

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (head) returned to the Week 10 game late in the second quarter against the Seattle Seahawks after missing several plays to be evaluated for possible concussion.

Huddle Up: Gronk apparently satisfied the requirements of the neurologist on the sidelines in rather quick fashion after a hard, but clean hit from Earl Thomas. Good news for fantasy owners.

  • Posted: 11/13/2016 6:33pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (head) was shaken up on a pass play in the second quarter of the Week 10 game against the Seattle Seahawks after a clean hit from S Earl Thomas.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski was a bit woozy and walked off under his own power to be evaluated for concussion most likely.

  • Posted: 10/30/2016 3:33pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski had 109 receiving yards and a touchdown in a 41-25 win over the Buffalo Bills. The touchdown was the 69th of his career and the 68th receiving TD, which eclipsed Stanley Morgan for the top spot on the all-time list in both categories.

Huddle Up: Congratulations to Gronkowski, who remains a strong TE1 option now that he's healthy.

  • Posted: 10/16/2016 10:22pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski posted seven receptions for 162 yards and a touchdown on nine targets in the Week 6 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski has back-to-back 100-yard games, benefiting from the return of Tom Brady. After a slow start due to a turnstile at quarterback and hamstring issue, he has re-emerged as the top fantasy option at his position.

  • Posted: 10/16/2016 6:59am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (illness, hamstring) will be active for Week 6's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Huddle Up: Although he missed practice Friday, Oct. 14, Gronkowski is a major component of New England's passing game and should be viewed as a top-tier tight end in all fantasy formats.

  • Posted: 10/14/2016 3:55pm ET

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (illness, hamstring) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 14, and is listed as questionable for Week 6.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski should be ready to play and will be a big part of the passing game like he was last week. He should be a starting option in all fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 10/14/2016 2:01pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (illness, hamstring) has been listed as questionable for Week 6 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Huddle Up: Check back for certain Sunday, but there is likely nothing to see here. Gronk has pronounced himself fit in regards to hamstring injury that limited him throughout the first quarter of the season and players rarely miss games due to 'illness'. As per usual whenever he takes the field, Gronkowski is a top-shelf TE1 play.

  • Posted: 10/12/2016 4:32pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski had a big game in Week 5 with Tom Brady back in the lineup and finished with 109 yards. He appears to have made progress in his rehab from the hamstring injury and is the top tight end in fantasy football.

  • Posted: 10/10/2016 9:40am ET

New England Patriots Rob Gronkowski played 64 of 72 snaps in a Week 5 victory over the Cleveland Browns and did not report any setbacks with the hamstring injury that had limited him for the first four games of the season. 'I felt a lot better out there this week and now I'm getting back to my old self, so I feel great,' Gronkowski said.

Huddle Up: Martellus Bennett owners didn't mind seeing Gronk return either, as the latter helped draw coverage away from the former en route to a three-score day. While obviously not every game will follow the same one this did, owners can fully expect Gronkowski to resume his dominant ways and Bennett to benefit have more days similar to one he just enjoyed. Gronk should resume his standing as the top tight end in fantasy soon and Bennett should be considered a midrange TE1 until further notice.

  • Posted: 10/9/2016 2:54pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski caught five passes for 109 yards in a 33-13 win over the Cleveland Browns Sunday, Oct. 9.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski didn't score, but he had a 100-yard game and that's what owners wanted in his return. All owners know is Gronk is healthy and ready to go.

  • Posted: 10/9/2016 8:55am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (hamstring) is officially active for the team's Week 5 game.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski is still dealing with his hamstring injury but reportedly had a solid week of practice. He will be a risky option for owners but should still be a starting candidate because he can post big numbers with Tom Brady back as the quarterback.

  • Posted: 10/8/2016 5:14pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (hamstring) had a strong week of practice and is expected to be used more down the field against the Cleveland Browns in Week 5.

Huddle Up: There are still question marks about Gronkowski's health, but with Tom Brady back under center, Gronkowski is worth the risk. Start him in season-long formats.

  • Posted: 10/8/2016 2:29pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (hamstring) is traveling with the team for their Week 5 game, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski is still dealing with his hamstring injury but should be able to play in Week 5. He will be a risky option for owners but could still be a starting candidate because Tom Brady is back in the lineup and likely will target Gronkowski.

  • Posted: 10/7/2016 2:28pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (hamstring) has been listed as questionable for Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski saw a season-high 39 snaps in Week 4 but admitted his injury is still bothering him, and the Patriots seemed to oblige by sending him out on a pass route only 13 times last week. Cleveland is dreadful against tight ends, so perhaps Gronk can be used as a low-end TE1 option this week. The better play this week might be Martellus Bennett, who leads all NFL tight ends in yards per target. Bennett should be a near-elite TE1 option this week.

  • Posted: 10/6/2016 5:23pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 6.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski has yet to look like himself this season, but the return of Tom Brady should help. He is a high-risk, high-reward option in Week 5.

  • Posted: 10/5/2016 5:05pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski is still dealing with his hamstring injury but did see more snaps in Week 4 than he did in Week 3. He is still a risky option for owners but should be more valuable with Tom Brady back from his suspension.

  • Posted: 10/5/2016 9:12am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (hamstring) admitted that his hamstring is still limiting him. 'When I can get rolling, I'll get rolling,' Gronkowski said.

Huddle Up: Gronk has been little more than a decoy thus far, and while Tom Brady is back for Week 5, Gronk remains a risky play. Use him at your own discretion.

  • Posted: 10/4/2016 1:29pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (hamstring) is 'not himself,' according to NFL Network's Mike Garafalo. Gronkowski's hamstring has not healed the way the Patriots were expecting it to, according to sources.

Huddle Up: Gronk not being at 100 percent puts a little bit of a damper on the return of Tom Brady. Gronk will still be involved and targeted, especially with Brady, but don't expect him to see his usual involvement and production. That being said, Gronk should still be started. He'll be active and he'll have Brady back.

  • Posted: 10/3/2016 5:13am ET

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (hamstring) played in 39 of 56 (70 percent) offensive snaps in Week 4, but he was targeted just twice. He blocked on 24 snaps.

Huddle Up: Tom Brady returns this week, and Gronk should see more action in the offense. He'll be an upper-level play against the Cleveland Browns.

  • Posted: 10/2/2016 2:18pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski caught one pass for 11 yards against the Buffalo Bills in Week 4.

Huddle Up: It is not known if Gronkowski is still bothered by his hamstring injury but has not been much of a factor in the last two weeks. Owners should keep an eye on his situation over the next week, but Gronkowski is a must-start player when he is healthy.

  • Posted: 10/2/2016 9:17am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (hamstring) is officially active for the team's Week 4 game.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski is still dealing with the injury but should be part of the passing game this week. He will be a risky starting candidate for owners but has the potential to post big numbers each week.
