Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning may make a decision on whether he plans to return for another season in the near future, according to his dad, Archie Manning. Archie thinks his son will make his decision 'maybe in the next week or two.' 'He's given a lot of thought to it,' Archie Manning said. 'My advice for him is to go through the process, get away a little bit, let your leg heal, give it a lot of thought and decide what you're going to do . (I) think he's taken a good evaluation of where he is physically.'

Huddle Up: The consensus remains that Manning will return for another season, but if not, the sooner the Broncos know the better so they can adjust accordingly in free agency and the draft.

  • Posted: 1/21/2015 12:44pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning plans to return in 2015, pending the results of his annual physical, according to three sources The Denver Post's Woody Paige trusts. The test results were learned at the beginning of March last season. The team has requested a decision from him by March 9.

Huddle Up: March 9 is the date the team needs to lock in Peyton's multi-million dollar contract, so it makes sense they want an answer by then. Now the Broncos need to figure out if either Thomas, Julius and/or Demaryius, will be back to catch balls from him.

  • Posted: 1/20/2015 10:06pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning remains unsure of his future with the team, but head coach Gary Kubiak said he plans to sit down with Manning and talk about their relationship moving forward. Kubiak doesn't think the difference in his offensive style will be a big deal if Manning decides to come back for another year. 'Well, it's easy to build a playbook for him,' Kubiak said. 'I mean, he's been the master at it for many, many years, and you're talking about a Hall of Fame player, Hall of Fame person.'

Huddle Up: The soon-to-be 39-year-old QB is still resting and recuperating from a rugged last month of the season, but most signs coming out of the Mile High City still indicate he will return for another year.

  • Posted: 1/18/2015 1:54pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning will not play in the 2015 Pro Bowl because of a quadriceps injury.

Huddle Up: Manning is a noted Pro Bowl backer, but sitting out the NFL's annual all-star tilt isn't exactly the toughest decision the 38-year-old QB will have to make in the coming months.

  • Posted: 1/16/2015 4:55pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning is believed to be leaning toward returning for another season, according to DE DeMarcus Ware. Ware said he has spoken to Manning since the team's divisional round loss to the Indianapolis Colts, and he's confident that Manning will return for another season. 'Me and Peyton will always talk back and forth about things. Now he's just looking forward to the next season and how we can get better,' Ware said. 'I think he'll be back. I feel like he still has a couple years in him.'

Huddle Up: There you go, another check in "Peyton Likely Returns" column.

  • Posted: 1/13/2015 11:22pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning will be given time to make up his mind on the future of his playing career, but general manager John Elway would very much like to have him return for the 2015 season and beyond. 'Just know how much we want you back, but the thing is for you to take the time and get away from this,' Elway said he told Manning. Elway will keep in touch with Manning over the next several weeks, and Manning will be 'involved in the process' of finding a new head coach.

Huddle Up: There has been speculation that if offensive coordinator/close confidant Adam Gase takes another coaching job, it will increase the chance of Manning not returning, but the QB has seemingly been prepping for Gase's departure all along, calling various teams to put in recommendations. Gase is also still in the running for the HC position in Denver, and if Manning is going to be part of the search process, it would seem to reason he'd be back in orange and blue for another go-round. Stay tuned ...

  • Posted: 1/13/2015 1:39pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning will likely play in 2015, according to a source close to Manning. 'I think he'll be back,' the source said. 'He was just emotional after the game because of the disappointment of the loss and everything that went into it. He just needs to take a month off and get away from it all and he'll be fine.'

Huddle Up: Manning's reported late-season quad injury alleviates a lot of the concern that his overall skills suddenly took a sharp turn for the worse, and it's tough to imagine a QB as proud as Peyton choosing to end his storied career going out as he did Sunday.

  • Posted: 1/12/2015 5:58pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning's $19 million salary for 2015 becomes guaranteed March 9.

Huddle Up: That gives the Broncos less than two months to give Manning a head coach he'll like, an offense he's familiar with, and re-sign Demaryius Thomas and Julius Thomas... or decide not to spend the money on Manning and go a different route. Should be an interesting couple of months in Denver.

  • Posted: 1/11/2015 10:23pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning said he will have to take some time to see how he feels before deciding whether or not he plays next season. Manning completed 26 of his 46 pass attempts and finished with 211 yards and one touchdown in a 24-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in the divisional round of the playoffs Sunday, Jan. 11.

Huddle Up: If the end has come for the future Hall of Famer, it's come quickly as he finished with 4 TDs and 6 interceptions in his final 5 games with only one 300-yard game. Manning said afterward he'll take time to "process" things regarding his future, and it certainly has become one of the biggest offseason storylines to watch as Manning will turn 39 in March.

  • Posted: 1/9/2015 4:50pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning had just one 300-yard passing game over the final six weeks of the season, and he failed to throw a touchdown in two of his final four games.

Huddle Up: Sunday's game might not prove to be a big rebound spot for Manning, either, as the Colts allow the seventh-fewest fantasy points to opposing WRs and the 11th-most points to enemy RBs. In other words, it could be a C.J. Anderson-centric game-plan for the Broncos as they work on keeping Indy's best weapon (some guy named Luck) on the sideline.

  • Posted: 1/6/2015 6:35pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (thigh) threw in practice Monday, Jan. 5, and he will take his usual workload in practices for the remainder of the week. Manning's thigh injury appeared to affect his ability to push off and drive the ball in the team's final two two regular-season games.

Huddle Up: Whether it was injury-related or the Broncos' late-season focus on the ground game, Manning's numbers certainly fell off down the stretch as he only had one 300-yard game with five TDs and six interceptions over his final five regular-season contests. The Broncos are going to need more from the 38-year-old QB to advance in the playoffs but the days of the regular monster passing stats appear to be behind him.

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (thigh) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 26, and is probable for Week 17 against the Oakland Raiders.

Huddle Up: Manning has struggled of late but should get back on track against the Raidersnin Week 17

  • Posted: 12/23/2014 12:54am ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning finished 28-of-44 for 311 yards, two touchdowns and four TDs on Monday, Dec. 22 in a 37-28 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Huddle Up: The good news for Manning owners is that he threw 44 passes after back-to-back 20-attempt outings but the four picks were his most as a Bronco with three of them coming in the fourth quarter. Manning's accuracy has certainly taken a turn for the worse over the second half of the season as he's been intercepted 12 times in the last 8 games.

  • Posted: 12/20/2014 4:29pm ET

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (thigh) took a similar amount of snaps Saturday, Dec. 20, as he has all season, according to head coach John Fox, before being listed as questionable for Monday night's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Huddle Up: Manning is expected to start Monday night against the Bengals and he's a QB1 for Fantasy Super Bowls.

  • Posted: 12/19/2014 11:39pm ET

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (thigh) was officially limited in practice Friday, Dec. 19, but he threw more than he did than the day prior, and he threw in individual drills. Manning is on track to play in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals Monday, Dec. 22.

Huddle Up: Manning will start against the Bengals. He's no longer the dominant fantasy force of earlier in the season but Manning is still a QB1 for Week 16.

  • Posted: 12/19/2014 3:52pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (thigh) was back to a full practice Friday, Dec. 19, after being limited Thursday, Dec. 18. Manning made several strong throws in the portion open to the media.

Huddle Up: Yeah, Peyton will play Monday night, and the only question remaining is how much he'll put it in the air given the Broncos' run-heavy offensive attack of late.

  • Posted: 12/18/2014 3:33pm ET

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (thigh) left practice early Thursday, Dec. 18, because he is receiving a scheduled day of rest. Manning was not limping when he was walking to the locker room.

Huddle Up: Sounds like a late-season, veteran maintenance day for Manning, who suffered a thigh bruise Sunday in San Diego. He's expected to practice Friday and be fully ready for the Week 16 Monday night game in Cincy.

  • Posted: 12/18/2014 10:12am ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning's contract runs through the 2016 season, and beat writer Mike Klis believes Manning will play out the contract.

Huddle Up: Manning hasn't looked particularly good of late, so of course it's time to question just how much game he has left. On the bright side, dynasty leaguers can plan to have Peyton around for a couple more years and use that time to line up a successor

  • Posted: 12/15/2014 10:18am ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (thigh, illness) is not expected to be in danger of missing Week 16. The thigh injury is believed to be related to his illness, and the team isn't concerned.

Huddle Up: You may recall Manning panicking Broncos fans and fantasy owners by exiting the first half early to reportedly get an IV, but he played the second half and should be just fine for championship week.

  • Posted: 12/7/2014 8:01pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning failed to throw a touchdown pass in the Week 14 win against the Buffalo Bills, ending his streak at 54 straight games with a scoring strike.

Huddle Up: The Broncos went to the running game for the second straight week. Manning picked a bad time to end his touchdown streak from a fantasy perspective with playoffs starting this week. For owners who survived, hopefully Denver will return to throwing the ball more in Week 14 against San Diego.

  • Posted: 10/20/2014 10:44am ET

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning threw his third touchdown of the first half of Week 7 against the San Francisco 49ers to WR Demaryius Thomas in the second quarter. It was the 509th touchdown pass of Manning's career, as he moved into the top spot in NFL history for career touchdown passes.

Huddle Up: Manning carved up the 49ers all night, quickly securing the record before calling it an evening with the Broncos up by a healthy margin. He remains the top fantasy quarterback in the game, even without the record to pursue.

  • Posted: 10/1/2014 8:01am ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning has struggled against current Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles in the past, throwing eight touchdowns and seven interceptions in five meetings with Bowles-coached defenses.

Huddle Up: Interesting angle, and the Cardinals are certainly no slouch defensively. Not that you'll want to bench Peyton, but you may need to dial back expectations a little bit.

  • Posted: 7/6/2014 3:27pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning ranked first in the NFL last year in 'catchable' passes, according to Stats Inc. He also ranked above the league average in terms of completion percentage on both short and deep throw to all areas of the field.

Huddle Up: There may be questions about the aging QB's arm strength, but his accuracy, number of WR-friendly passes and game smarts are as sharp as ever. And that's only some of the reasons why Manning tops The Huddle's preseason QB rankings.

  • Posted: 3/3/2014 2:21pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (neck) was fully cleared for the 2014 season by a doctor after having his neck examined Monday, March 3.

Huddle Up: It's a stipulation of Manning's contract that he have the annual exam. With no red flags, he'll be back under center to pile up yardage and scores in 2014.

  • Posted: 3/3/2014 1:18am ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning will undergo his postseason exam on his neck Monday, March 3. He already passed his exit physical after the Super Bowl.

Huddle Up: Fantasy's highest-scoring player in 2013 will turn 38 later this month, but everything is expected to check out just fine three years removed now from his neck procedures.

  • Posted: 2/22/2014 8:53pm ET

Denver Broncos general manager John Elway said the team will not need to ask QB Peyton Manning to restructure his contract because they have enough salary cap space to afford his salary. Manning is scheduled to make $20 million next season if his neck checked out medically.

Huddle Up: The Broncos appear to have the ability to squeeze Peyton's sizeable deal under the newly-increased salary cap, so they won't have to ask him to rework his deal--though that could change if Manning wants to keep Eric Decker around.

  • Posted: 2/4/2014 4:40pm ET

Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman claimed the team cracked the Denver Broncos' offense and figured out some of QB Peyton Manning's signals. 'All we did was play situational football,' Sherman said. 'We knew what route concepts they liked on different downs, so we jumped all the routes. Then we figured out the hand signals for a few of the route audibles in the first half.'

Huddle Up: Whatever the case, the Seahawks appeared to get a little more out of the 2-week Super Bowl prep period than the Broncos.

  • Posted: 2/2/2014 11:45pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning completed a Super Bowl-record 34 passes in 49 attempts for 280 yards, a TD and 2 interceptions Sunday, Feb. 2 in the 43-9 Super Bowl loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Huddle Up: It was the hollowest of records for Manning, whose season for the books ended with a devastating thud against the swarming, turnover- hungry Seahawks. Manning didn't a get much help from his overwhelmed offensive line or running game, but the top takeaway from this non- competitive game is that dominating defense still has a prominent place, even in today's offensive-oriented NFL.

  • Posted: 2/2/2014 4:35pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning is 12 years, 250 days older than Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson. That is the largest age difference between starting quarterbacks in Super Bowl history.

Huddle Up: Manning, of course, had the far better fantasy year with 165 more Huddle Performance points than his Seattle counterpart, but as far as Sunday's outcome is concerned, QBs will no prior Super Bowl experience are actually 4-2 in the Big Game vs. QBs who have previously won in the last 14 years.
