Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning ranked first in the NFL last year in 'catchable' passes, according to Stats Inc. He also ranked above the league average in terms of completion percentage on both short and deep throw to all areas of the field.

Huddle Up: There may be questions about the aging QB's arm strength, but his accuracy, number of WR-friendly passes and game smarts are as sharp as ever. And that's only some of the reasons why Manning tops The Huddle's preseason QB rankings.

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (neck) was fully cleared for the 2014 season by a doctor after having his neck examined Monday, March 3.

Huddle Up: It's a stipulation of Manning's contract that he have the annual exam. With no red flags, he'll be back under center to pile up yardage and scores in 2014.

Posted: 3/3/2014 1:18am et

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning will undergo his postseason exam on his neck Monday, March 3. He already passed his exit physical after the Super Bowl.

Huddle Up: Fantasy's highest-scoring player in 2013 will turn 38 later this month, but everything is expected to check out just fine three years removed now from his neck procedures.

Posted: 2/22/2014 8:53pm et

Denver Broncos general manager John Elway said the team will not need to ask QB Peyton Manning to restructure his contract because they have enough salary cap space to afford his salary. Manning is scheduled to make $20 million next season if his neck checked out medically.

Huddle Up: The Broncos appear to have the ability to squeeze Peyton's sizeable deal under the newly-increased salary cap, so they won't have to ask him to rework his deal--though that could change if Manning wants to keep Eric Decker around.

Posted: 2/4/2014 4:40pm et

Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman claimed the team cracked the Denver Broncos' offense and figured out some of QB Peyton Manning's signals. 'All we did was play situational football,' Sherman said. 'We knew what route concepts they liked on different downs, so we jumped all the routes. Then we figured out the hand signals for a few of the route audibles in the first half.'

Huddle Up: Whatever the case, the Seahawks appeared to get a little more out of the 2-week Super Bowl prep period than the Broncos.

Posted: 2/2/2014 11:45pm et

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning completed a Super Bowl-record 34 passes in 49 attempts for 280 yards, a TD and 2 interceptions Sunday, Feb. 2 in the 43-9 Super Bowl loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Huddle Up: It was the hollowest of records for Manning, whose season for the books ended with a devastating thud against the swarming, turnover- hungry Seahawks. Manning didn't a get much help from his overwhelmed offensive line or running game, but the top takeaway from this non- competitive game is that dominating defense still has a prominent place, even in today's offensive-oriented NFL.

Posted: 2/2/2014 4:35pm et

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning is 12 years, 250 days older than Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson. That is the largest age difference between starting quarterbacks in Super Bowl history.

Huddle Up: Manning, of course, had the far better fantasy year with 165 more Huddle Performance points than his Seattle counterpart, but as far as Sunday's outcome is concerned, QBs will no prior Super Bowl experience are actually 4-2 in the Big Game vs. QBs who have previously won in the last 14 years.

Posted: 1/30/2014 1:27pm et

The Super Bowl XLVIII weather forecast keeps getting better by the day, As of now, the high for Sunday is expected to be 46 degrees in East Rutherford, N.J., which likely means the game will at least kick off in the 40s. The low for the day will be 26. Winds are expected to be mild between 6-8 mph.

Huddle Up: This affects Manning the most, and the 37-year-old QB particularly has to like the relatively calm wind forecast in the notoriously breezy Meadowlands. In short, it looks like the Big Game might actually remain in its Sunday timeslot after all.

Posted: 1/28/2014 2:20pm et

Denver Broncos president John Elway said he expects QB Peyton Manning to return for at least another season even if the team wins Super Bowl XLVIII against the Seattle Seahawks. 'I'm sure hopeful he's not going to (retire),' Elway said Tuesday, Jan. 28 during Super Bowl Media Day. 'I'd be very, very surprised if he walked away. I think he wants to walk away with every record that was ever put in the record books as far as offensive football or quarterbacking. So I think he's got a lot of football left in him.'

Huddle Up: Yeah, Manning will turn 38 in March, but after an NFL single-season record 55 TD passes, 5,477 yards and a Super Bowl appearance, Manning's career path doesn't exactly seem to be trending downward at the moment.

Posted: 1/26/2014 11:08pm et

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning said he wants to continue playing past this season.

Huddle Up: Manning is on top of his game -- and it's a celebral game isn't as prone to the rigors of advancing age -- so expect another season or 2 of "Omahas."

Posted: 1/19/2014 10:52pm et

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning was 32-for-43 for 400 yards and two touchdowns in the AFC Championship Game to propel the team to the Super Bowl.

Huddle Up: Fantasy's top player during the regular season hasn't let up in the postseason with 630 yards and 4 TDs in 2 playoff games. Seattle's top-ranked pass defense presents the toughest hurdle of the season, though, in 2 weeks.

Posted: 1/13/2014 2:28pm et

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (neck) will have an offseason exam on his surgically repaired neck in March, which will determine his future. If the exam reveals his neck is stable, he'll return for the 2014 season. If there's an increased risk of injury, Manning may decide to retire.

Huddle Up: Certainly the potential for a Manning retirement throws the dynasty fantasy value of the entire Broncos' receiving corps into question. For the moment, however, Manning is more concerned about getting his hands on a cold Bud Light than any neck issues.

Posted: 12/4/2013 7:21pm et

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Huddle Up: It's just a rest day for Manning. He'll start on Sunday and put up big fantasy numbers like always.

Posted: 11/16/2013 12:24am et

Denver Broncos interim head coach Jack Del Rio said Friday, Nov. 15, that QB Peyton Manning (ankle) is 'definite' for the Week 11 showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs. 'They don't have a definite category on there, or I would check it off,' Del Rio said. 'He's ready to go, and as a team we're ready to go.'

Huddle Up: Manning is dealing with a couple of sore ankles but he's good to go for Sunday's big tilt against the Chiefs. Fantasy owners don't need to worry.

Posted: 11/15/2013 5:04pm et

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (ankle) practiced in full Friday, Nov. 15, and is probable for Week 11.

Huddle Up: Of course your'e rolling with fantasy's No. 1 QB even with his stiffest test awaiting him Sunday night in the K.C. defense.

Posted: 11/14/2013 4:31pm et

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (ankle) participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 14.

Huddle Up: As expected, the NFL's leading passer was back on the field after sitting out Wednesday and it's all systems go for Sunday night barring a late-week setback.

Posted: 11/11/2013 3:28pm et

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (ankle) is expected to play in the team's Week 11 showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs after his MRI exam Monday, Nov. 11, showed no new damage to his injured right ankle. Manning was not in a walking boot Monday, according to a player source. The Denver Post's Mike Klis was told by a source that Manning 'absolutely will play Sunday against the Chiefs.'

Huddle Up: Whether this affects his effectiveness will be an interesting question heading into this Sunday. Manning doesn't exactly rely on his mobility, but it could affect his accuracy if his footwork is affected. And that Kansas City pass rush might feast on that Denver offensive line.

Posted: 11/10/2013 11:39pm et

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (ankle) took a shot late in the Week 10 game against the San Diego Chargers, and appeared to be gimpy, although he stayed in the game and finished. He said Sunday, Nov. 10, that he will have an MRI Monday, Nov. 11, and certainly expects to play in Week 11 against the Kansas City Chiefs. 'I certainly plan on it,' Manning said.

Huddle Up: Hopefully the MRI doesn't reveal much damage. Manning has a tough matchup next week.

Posted: 10/28/2013 1:53pm et

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (ankles) said he was sore following the team's Week 8 win over the Washington Redskins, but that he is alright. 'I'm going to go down on the injury report, starting now, under 'body,' just keep me there, that's what I'm going under,' Manning said. 'I actually felt pretty good out there, felt like I was moving around, felt like I was able to move in the pocket a little bit and see some things and felt good out there. The bye week is coming at a good time for a lot of people physically, me as well.' He finished with 354 yards passing, four touchdowns and three interceptions in the game.

Huddle Up: Never bench Peyton Manning.

Posted: 10/24/2013 4:23pm et

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (ankle) was on the practice field Thursday, Oct. 24, throwing passes.

Huddle Up: Breathe, Manning owners, breathe . . . fantasy's top player was back in action after missing a rare practice with what was deemed a minor ankle injury and appears to be fully back on schedule to play Sunday.

Posted: 10/23/2013 2:36pm et

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (ankle) is dealing with a minor ankle injury and is expected to practice Thursday, Oct. 24.

Huddle Up: Breathe a sigh of relief, Manning owners. He should be fine.

Posted: 9/24/2013 6:52pm et

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw 12 touchdown passes in the first three games of the season after putting up an 86.5 completion percentage in the Week 3 win over the Oakland Raiders Monday, Sept. 23. The Broncos have scored 127 points and put up 1,460 yards in three weeks, which are the second- and fourth-best marks in NFL history. Manning was 32-for-37 for 374 yards and three touchdowns against the Raiders.

Huddle Up: Manning is only player with more than 100 fantasy points (104) through 3 weeks, and those who waited on a QB and wound up landing Manning in the 4th or 5th round likely have started strong in their leagues.

Posted: 9/24/2013 12:19am et

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning completed 32-of-37 passes for 374 yards and 3 touchdowns Monday, Sept. 23 in a 37-21 win over the Oakland Raiders.

Huddle Up: Manning now has a league-leading and NFL 3-game-record 12 TD passes with no picks as the Denver offensive machine continued to roll. There was concern with the Broncos playing their first game without injured LT Ryan Clady against a team that entered the game with a league-leading 9 sacks, but Manning was brought down only once and hit only one other time while compiling a 135.8 QB rating.

Posted: 9/6/2013 1:04am et

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning threw for 462 yards and an NFL-record-tying 7 TDs Thursday, Sept. 5 in the team's 49-27 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Huddle Up: Big fantasy things were expected from Manning and his embarrassment of pass- catching riches, but opening the season with one of the best fantasy performances of all time (51 points, Huddle Performance scoring) against the defending Super Bowl champs is simply off the charts and condolences if you were facing the QB in a fantasy matchup out of the gate. WRs Wes Welker and Demaryius Thomas and TE Julius Thomas hauled in 2 TDs apiece while No. 4 wideout Andre Caldwell had the other. All that's left to say is . . . wow.
