Free-agent WR Randy Moss (49ers) is still undecided if he will play football this season. There was reportedly interest in Moss a few months ago, although nothing has transpired since. Moss had only 434 yards last season.

Huddle Up: That's only 434 yards on 28 catches since 2010 for the 36-year-old Moss, who sat out 2011, and the odds are growing longer that he'll be signed to play a 17th NFL season.

The San Francisco 49ers have indicated that they will not look to re-sign impending free-agent WR Randy Moss this offseason.

Huddle Up: The self-proclaimed best receiver in NFL history thinks he still has a year or three left in him, but he'll need to find a team that both feels the same way and is willing to put up with his mercurial attitude. Fantasy-wise, unless there's a reunion with Bill Belichick brewing Moss has likely jumped the shark.

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent WR Randy Moss conveyed his frustration about his role this past season, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh. 'In a competitive way, yes,' Harbaugh said. 'He wants to be involved. We've talked about it many times, suggestions he would make. It's all been positive. It's all been good.' Harbaugh would not say if Moss will return to the team in 2013. 'I don't know about that,' Harbaugh said. 'Next question.'

Huddle Up: You don't even need to read between the lines to see that it was a one-and-done season for Moss in San Fran. The team will get Mario Manningham back from injury, but look for the team to add another wideout in the quest to have the No. 2 slot covered alongside No. 1 Michael Crabtree.

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent WR Randy Moss likely will not re-sign with team this offseason because he did not like his role during the season and likely would not receive a bigger role if he returned. Moss has said he would like another season in the NFL.

Huddle Up: Moss was an afterthought with occasional bursts of glory for the 49ers, but--as evidenced by his pre-Super Bowl self-ranking as the greatest wide receiver of all time--he still has plenty of confidence in his game. Curious to see if another coach is willing to put up with his schtick.

San Francisco 49ers WR Randy Moss said he was 'blackballed' during his brief tenure with the Tennessee Titans and some of the team's coaches did not like him. 'Why they claimed me, I really don't know,' Moss said. 'There were some things where I could really tell I really wasn't liked, and that was coming from the coaching staff. To be able to still make plays -- there were some things going on in-house that I probably won't speak upon until I write my book.' Moss added that his stint with the Titans left him doubting his future in the NFL.

Huddle Up: We've heard more from Moss in the past few days than we've heard all season. That's what happens, though, with 2 weeks to kill between the championship games and the Super Bowl.

San Francisco 49ers WR Randy Moss said physically he could play another three to five years; however, mentally he's not sure he could do it.

Huddle Up: You know Randy, he plays when he wants to play. Moss has demonstrated he can still be a matchup problem, but a guy who proclaims himself the best receiver of all time while wearing the same colors Jerry Rice once wore isn't likely to accept the non-feature receiver roles that would keep him in the league for another three years.

Huddle Up: It was a little Media Day change of tune for Moss, whose attitude and selflessness has generally been praised in reports all season.

San Francisco 49ers WR Randy Moss plans to play at least one more year, even if the team wins Super Bowl XLVII, according to a source with knowledge of the receiver's thinking. Moss is scheduled to become a free agent in March.

Huddle Up: Moss could change his mind if he earns a ring this weekend. At this stage he's less a feature receiver and more of a role player, which makes him an extremely unreliable fantasy play.

San Francisco 49ers WR Randy Moss is looking forward to the Week 15 game against the New England Patriots, his former team. 'The compliments are good and I respect coach Belichick and that organization still to this day,' Moss said Wednesday, Dec. 12.

Huddle Up: If there's ever a game Moss might be more of a fantasy factor, it's likely Sunday night with the wideout pumped up to face his ex-mates. Moss has only had more than 3 catches or 47 receiving yards in a game twice all season (4 receptions in Week 1 and 75 yards in Week 6).

San Francisco 49ers WR Randy Moss was targeted six times in Week 3, one more than he had seen the previous two games combined; however, Moss showed no interest in talking about his playing time, which again lagged behind fellow WRs Michael Crabtree and Mario Manningham. "Next question," Moss said when asked about his playing time. Moss finished with three catches for 27 yards.

Huddle Up: Whoa; who saw this coming? Besides everybody, of course. Moss is used to being the straw that stirs the drink, which at his age and given the makeup of the 49ers roster was never going to happen in San Francisco. It wouldn't be at all surprising if Moss is an ex-49er in the not-too distant future.

San Francisco 49ers WR Randy Moss has only five catches for 60 yards and a touchdown in the team's first two games of the season, and he's been on the field for only 40 of the team's 123 total offensive snaps.

Huddle Up: No surprise here as the 35-year-old Moss is more of a complementary wideout than a centerpiece WR in the Niners' balanced offense. He still can stretch the field and, at 6-foot-4, remains an inviting red-zone target, but he's not going to see the same volume of targets as teammates Vernon Davis or Michael Crabtree.

San Francisco 49ers WR Randy Moss had four receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown in the Week 1 game against the Green Bay Packers. Moss now has 154 receiving touchdowns, moving past free-agent WR Terrell Owens for second place all-time in NFL history.

Huddle Up: Moss scoring in Green Bay was a common occurrence during his tenure in Minnesota, and while he was only targeted four times he caught all four and was clearly a threat in the San Francisco passing game. The limited snaps and looks are a little disconcerting, but Moss did nothing in Week 1 to suggest he's not worthy of a fantasy roster spot.

The Green Bay Packers are preparing for San Francisco 49ers WR Randy Moss to be in top form in their Week 1 meeting. 'I think that's what everybody in the secondary is going to be expecting - the Randy who's done it at such a high level so many years,' CB Tramon Williams said. 'You can't look past that. Once a guy puts that on film year in and year out in the league, you can't look past that.'

Huddle Up: If the Packers aren't blowing smoke, this could lead to some open space for Vernon Davis and Michael Crabtree. There is a reason why a true deep threat helps the offense, and Moss could be helping fantasy teams everywhere, assuming you are starting other 49ers.

The San Francisco 49ers listed WR Michael Crabtree at the top of the depth chart followed by Randy Moss, Mario Manningham, and Ted Ginn Jr. Tuesday, Sept. 4.

Huddle Up: Moss has the most value in TD-centric leagues, while Crabtree is the 49ers wideout you want in a PPR format. Manningham, meanwhile, has sleeper potential, but TE Vernon Davis remains the No.1 overall target on a San Fran offense that doesn't figure to air it out too much.

The San Francisco 49ers will likely limit WR Randy Moss to 20 to 25 snaps per game this season in order to keep him fresh.

Huddle Up: While this is likely a smart move given Moss's age, he certainly can't be happy about it. If the Niners run on half those plays, that's maybe a dozen snaps Moss is on the field where Alex Smith can throw him the ball. Smith will complete about half of those; now we're down to six balls a game max for Moss--and that's assuming Smith only has eyes for him when he's on the field. As enticing as the prospect of a rejuvenated Moss might be, he's nothing more than a late-round fantasy flier.

On the San Francisco 49ers initial depth chart, opposite of WR Michael Crabtree the 49ers list WRs Randy Moss 'or' Mario Manningham 'or' Ted Ginn Jr. as their other starter.

Huddle Up: All 3 receivers should see their fair share of targets this season regardless of who starts, but, naturally, the camp intrigue surrounds the 35-year-old Moss, who sat out last season following his 28-catch season in 2010 playing for 3 teams. Early indications are that Moss still has a lot to offer, and he could be an interesting lower-tier fantasy wideout. Meanwhile, with his stronger stable of targets, QB Alex Smith deserves a bump in value.

San Francisco 49ers WR Alex Smith said he loves the additions of WRs Randy Moss and Mario Manningham this offseason. 'Love it, love it,' Smith said. 'We had a great offseason, a lot of new faces came in, really fit in. But this is the time when real football starts, put the pads on and we'll see what everybody's got.' Smith has particularly been impressed with Moss. 'He's been a blast on the field and off the field,' Smith said of Moss. 'Great guy, great teammate, catches everything, makes you look good as a quarterback, so it's been great.'

Huddle Up: Alex Smith has some big names in the huddle with him now: Moss, Manningham, Michael Crabtree, Vernon Davis, and Frank Gore. The 49ers are 12-to-1 in Vegas to win Super Bowl XLVII, behind only the Packers 5.5-to-1, Patriots 6.25-to-1, Eagles 11-to-1, and Texans 11.5-to-1.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said during a radio interview that WR Randy Moss is the team's top wide receiver at this point based on how he performed during offseason workouts.

Huddle Up: Moss Kool-Aid has always been easy to gulp. Admit it, even at age 35 he still makes you curious about him as a potential value grab.

San Francisco 49ers WR Randy Moss has been practicing with the first-team offense in minicamp, and it appears he's a starter heading into training camp.

Huddle Up: Moss has been the talk of the 49ers' offseason, and it appears he's cleared the first hurdle of earning a starting gig. Now if he can convert the 49ers from a run-first team to a passing team and get Alex Smith to improve as a quarterback he may just become a fantasy factor.
