Detroit Lions RB Kerryon Johnson and LeGarrette Blount were 'no doubt' the top two running backs during OTAs Thursday, May 24, according to Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com.

Huddle Up: Johnson has the long-term upside, but he and Blount will likely split carries on early downs and near the goal line in some capacity. Keep an eye on the situation because there is a good chance one of these backs emerges as a RB3.

  • Posted: 3/16/2018 6:37pm ET

Free-agent RB LeGarrette Blount (Eagles) has agreed to a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions worth $4.5 million, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Detroit's ground game has been miserable in recent years, and Blount should immediately become the lead back in between the tackles and near the goal line. He could sneak into RB2 territory.

  • Posted: 3/14/2018 7:17pm ET

Free-agent RB LeGarrette Blount is scheduled to visit the Detroit Lions on Friday, March 16.

Huddle Up: It would be a good fit for Blount to land with the Lions, who have not had a desirable running game in years. In fact, they just produced the league's worst rush attack this past season, so it's a sure bet that Detroit will do something to address this obvious need. Blount saw his numbers go down in 2017 but he could potentially be a legit RB2 as the Lions' lead back.

Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent RB LeGarrette Blount wants to return to the Eagles, he told NFL Network during an interview.

Huddle Up: Blount will be playing in an age-32 season in 2018. He mustered only two rushing TDs in 2017's regular season but found paydirt in each of the three playoff games for Philly. The Eagles have a lot of talented bodies and may opt for a cheaper, more versatile rotation. Assuming Blount returns, he's merely fantasy roster depth in the waning rounds of a draft.

  • Posted: 1/23/2018 12:42am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount moved up to seventh on the NFL's all-time postseason rushing touchdown leaderboard, scoring his 10th career playoff touchdown on the ground in the team's Conference Championship win Sunday, Jan. 21, against the Minnesota Vikings.

Huddle Up: Despite registering single-digit rush attempts in each of Philadelphia's first two playoff games, Blount has managed to make the most of his work, as he's found the end zone in both contests. Jay Ajayi has been getting the bulk of the carries, but even so, Blount should continue to remain a force in red-zone and goaline situations.

  • Posted: 1/21/2018 7:00pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount rushed six times for 21 yards and a touchdown in a 38-7 win over the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC Championship game.

Huddle Up: Blount powered his way in for a short touchdown, but he has been taking more and more of a backseat to Jay Ajayi in recent weeks. He looks like a touchdown-dependent option at this point.

  • Posted: 1/13/2018 5:36pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount scored a touchdown for the Eagles in his team's 15-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Blount finished with nine carries and 19 yards rushing.

Huddle Up: Blount could be effective in short-yardage situations, especially if Philadelphia struggles against its opponent next week. Keep an eye on Blount for fantasy contests.

  • Posted: 12/10/2017 8:52pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount rushed seven times for just 12 yards in Week 14 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Huddle Up: Blount hasn't been the same since the team acquired Jay Ajayi, and he even looks to be behind Corey Clement in the pecking order for touches in the Philly backfield now. He is only worth a look as a low-end RB3 or flex fantasy option at this point of the season.

  • Posted: 11/26/2017 6:10pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount rushed for a team-high 97 yards on 15 carries and lost a fumble in a 31-3 win over the Chicago Bears in Week 12.

Huddle Up: Blount has led the Eagles in carries in each of the past two games, and it doesn't seem like the arrival of Jay Ajayi is going to hurt his fantasy value too much. He is a serviceable RB3.

  • Posted: 11/19/2017 8:59pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount rushed 13 times for 57 yards in Week 11 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Huddle Up: Blount was used as a hammer to change-of-pace backs Corey Clement, Jay Ajayi and Kenjon Barner. He averaged 4.4 yards per carry, and he ripped off a 30-yard run in this one. However, Blount remains more of a low-end RB2 in standard fantasy formats heading into Week 12 against the Bears. He has lesser value in PPR leagues since he doesn't really ever catch the ball.

  • Posted: 10/31/2017 10:58am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount will remain the starting running back despite the addition of Jay Ajayi, according to vice president of football operations Howie Roseman.

Huddle Up: Common sense would suggest this is a temporary stance while Ajayi learns the playbook, as the Eagles did not spend a fourth-round pick to upgrade the position only to sit him behind what they already had. Ajayi may not reach the fantasy heights he achieved with the Miami Dolphins last year, but his new situation is much better from a fantasy perspective than the one he is leaving this year. Owners should probably bench Ajayi this week and be ready to start him again following the team's Week 10 bye.

  • Posted: 10/31/2017 8:38am ET

Even with the acquisition of RB Jay Ajayi from the Miami Dolphins, the Philadelphia Eagles are not likely to move RB LeGarrette Blount at the trade deadline.

Huddle Up: Blount's role figures to change with the team, and it won't be for the better in terms of stats. Philadelphia went out and upgraded its running game because the injury to RB Darren Sproles put Blount in a position to gain yards, and he couldn't fulfill that promise.

  • Posted: 10/29/2017 4:27pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount rushed 16 times for 48 yards and a touchdown in Week 8 against the San Francisco 49ers and he added a four-yard reception on his only target.

Huddle Up: Blount isn't crushing it like he did in 2016 when he led the league with 18 rushing scores, but he is rolling along with 4.7 yards per carry on his 100 rushes so far this season. That's slightly over his career average of 4.4 yards per tote. He remains a decent RB3 or flex fantasy option in all formats heading into Week 9 against the Broncos.

  • Posted: 10/23/2017 9:17pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount managed to pick up a season-low 29 rushing yards on 14 carries in the team's Week 7 game Monday, Oct. 23, against the Washington Redskins.

Huddle Up: A disappointing game for sure -- and it's also severely disappointing that he only has one touchdown on the year -- but owners shouldn't be thinking about giving up on Blount. The Eagles are one of the league's highest-scoring offenses, and as long as the former Patriot continues to lead the backfield in carries, he should start to come through for owners much sooner than later.

  • Posted: 10/14/2017 10:51am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount is averaging 4.9 yards after contact per carry through six games in 2017.

Huddle Up: To put that number into some context, only eight running backs are averaging at least 4.9 yards per carry so far. Carson Wentz's accelerated maturation process as well as the upgraded receiving corps are among the factors contributing to Blount's ability to not face loaded boxes, and it helps he is getting a lot of work with the Eagles holding the lead late in games against tired defenses. Blount isn't scoring enough touchdowns to be considered a RB2 in PPR, but he is making for a fine flex option.

  • Posted: 10/12/2017 10:02pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount registered 14 carries for 67 yards (4.8 YPC) during the team's win over the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football.

Huddle Up: In three of the last four games, Blount has carried between 12 and 14 times and gained between 67 and 74 yards, so it appears we've found his sweet spot. He added a two-point conversion against the Panthers, but he only has two touchdowns this year after scoring 18 times a season ago. He's best used as a flex.

  • Posted: 10/8/2017 2:44pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount rushed for 74 yards on 14 carries against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5.

Huddle Up: Blount will continue to receive most of the rushing attempts as long as he stays healthy. He can be considered a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option in standard leagues next week.

  • Posted: 10/1/2017 7:47pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount finished with 16 carries for 136 yards, including 88 yards in the fourth quarter, in a 26-24 win over the Los Angeles Chargers Sunday, Oct. 1.

Huddle Up: It was an encouraging outing for Blount, but he was one of three backs to receive double-digit carries. He will be a risky flex play against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5.

  • Posted: 9/30/2017 6:34am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount was fined $9,115 by the National Football League for taunting following a touchdown in Week 3's game against the New York Giants.

Huddle Up: Blount had 12 carries for 67 yards versus the Giants after being largely ignored in the offense the week before. He should see a slightly heavier workload going forward due to the season-ending injury for Darren Sproles and is worthy of consideration as a RB3 or flex option in deeper fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 9/24/2017 4:26pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount rushed 12 times for 67 yards and a touchdown in the Week 3 win against the New York Giants.

Huddle Up: Blount didn't have any rush attempts, and just one touch, in Week 2. This is what fantasy owners expect from Blount, who still has two total touchdowns through three games in limited work. He remains more of a RB3 or flex play heading into Week 4 on the road against the Chargers.

  • Posted: 9/17/2017 1:48pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount did not have a single carry during his team's 27-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday, Sept. 17. It marked the first time since 2012 that Blount has not carried the ball in a game.

Huddle Up: Needless to say, Blount burned fantasy owners on Sunday. On top of a subpar outing in the first week, it may be time to ask what Blount's role is on this team. Yes, it's only two weeks into the season, but a big deal was made about getting Blount into the offense. For now, leave Blount off of all your fantasy rosters.

  • Posted: 9/10/2017 1:33pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount ran 14 times for 46 yards in a 30-17 win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday, Sept. 10.

Huddle Up: The top four Eagle rushers contributed just 58 yards to the ground game. Considering Washington surrendered close to 120 yards per game last season, which was the 24th worst out of 32 teams, this could be cause for concern. For now, Blount is merely a flex player with little value.

  • Posted: 8/21/2017 8:05pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount has been having 'weight issues' and looked 'disappointing in practice,' which is why it's possible he might not make the final roster.

Huddle Up: Despite scoring the second-most rushing touchdowns in the NFL last season, it appears Blount is not fitting in well with his new club. Even if the seven-year veteran ends up as part of the 53-man squad, it might be hard to lean on him regularly, given Philadelphia's running back situation. Darren Sproles, Donnel Pumphrey and Wendell Smallwood all figure to have a role in 2017, which will severely cap Blount's ceiling with the Eagles.

  • Posted: 8/20/2017 8:44am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount has struggled to get to the corner on off-tackle runs and has only nine carries for 17 yards through two preseason games, leading Matt Lombardo of NJ.com to conclude Blount may be among the team's cuts this summer.

Huddle Up: In Blount's defense, running between the tackles is his strong suit because he lacks the speed now to get to the edge consistently. Having said that, he just has not looked very good this summer in general. His ability to convert in short yardage and at the goal line may save him, but the Eagles would probably be better off by admitting their mistake and moving on. He's obviously a very risky RB3 in fantasy.

  • Posted: 8/17/2017 7:54pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount rushed for eight yards on five carries in the preseason game against Buffalo Bills Thursday, Aug. 17. He also caught two passes for 15 yards during the game.

Huddle Up: Blount will be the main ball carrier for the Eagles this season and probably will not be used much in the passing game. He probably should be considered a No. 3 running back in standard leagues because of his touchdown potential. He will not have as much value in point-per-reception leagues.

  • Posted: 8/15/2017 7:49pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount 'hasn?t exactly stood out' during training camp so far, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane.

Huddle Up: McLane notes Blount's skill set is one better suited for games than practices, but it is a bit concerning he isn't distinguishing himself from the Eagles' runners in some way, shape or form. Blount is the heavy favorite for early-down and goal-line work, but owners would be wise to view him as no more than a low-end RB3, especially considering he figures to have next to no role in the passing game.

  • Posted: 8/4/2017 6:18am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount (personal) returned to practice Friday, Aug. 4, after missing the entire week due to personal reasons.

Huddle Up: Blount has touchdown potential, but he's not expected to have as big of a carry volume than in years passed. He's a high-end RB3 candidate with some bust potential.

  • Posted: 8/2/2017 6:07am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount (personal) was excused from practice Wednesday, Aug. 2, due to personal reasons.

Huddle Up: Blount has touchdown potential, but he's not expected to have as big of a carry volume than in years passed. He's a high-end RB3 candidate.

  • Posted: 7/14/2017 12:36pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz attempted 607 passes last year, the second-highest total for a rookie in NFL history. Head coach Doug Pederson hopes to 'take a little bit off' Wentz's plate in 2017 and believes the addition of RB LeGarrette Blount to the running game will help in that respect.

Huddle Up: The running game fell off about the same time right tackle Lane Johnson began serving his suspension, which contributed largely to the Eagles' heavy reliance on Wentz. There is a good chance the second-year signal-caller will improve on last year's numbers (3782 yards passing, 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions) simply because he has a better supporting cast around him now, led by Alshon Jeffery. Wentz should be a solid QB2 in fantasy in 2017.

  • Posted: 7/11/2017 5:57pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount was far and away the busiest player in the league inside the red zone last year, registering league highs in carries and touchdowns inside the 20, 10 and 5. Sixteen of his 68 red zone carries, 15 of his 42 attempts inside the 10 and 12 of his 24 rushes inside the 5 resulted in touchdowns. Mike Gillislee is expected to assume the power role Blount had with the New England Patriots last season.

Huddle Up: Blount obviously obviously cannot count on the same kind of volume in Philadelphia that he could in New England, but it is notable for present and future owners of Gillislee. While a repeat of Blount's franchise-record 18 rushing touchdowns for Gillislee is highly unlikely, he is a very good bet to reach double figures for the first time in his career and makes for a high-upside RB3 in most leagues.

  • Posted: 6/28/2017 7:21am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount can earn $50,000 if he weighs between 240-245 pounds on the team's reporting date for training camp, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Blount is expected to see a heavy dosage of carries, and his touchdown potential gives him some luster as a high-end RB3.
