The Rock Hill Herald, reports Carolina Panthers QB Jake Delhomme (chest) was taken to a nearby hospital for a CT scan. Delhomme checked out OK and will fly home with the team.
The Huddle Take: Good news for Carolina that Delhomme seems to be Ok at this point. He will be evaluated further on Monday to determine the extent of his injury and if he will be able to go in Week 9. If he is unable to play backup quarterback Matt Moore would likely get the start in his place.

The Rock Hill Herald reports Carolina Panthers quarterbacks coach Rip Scherer has agreed to pull back some of his technical suggestions to QB Jake Delhomme and let Delhomme play with the more spontaneous style he has used before, according to sources.
The Huddle Take: Looks like those "suggestions" may not have been a good idea. Let's hope for his few remaining fantasy owner's sake a return to his past playing style lead to an improvement in his overall play.
Posted: 10/28/2009 3:17pm et
The Associated Press reports Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox said that QB Jake Delhomme will remain the team's starting quarterback. Fox said he thinks Delhomme gives the team 'the best chance to win.'
The Huddle Take: Not a real surprise here. With Matt Moore and A.J. Feeley behind Delhomme on the depth chart Fox has little choice but to stick with Delhomme and hope he pulls out of his interception slump soon.
Posted: 10/26/2009 12:27pm et
Charles Chandler, of the Charlotte Observer, reports Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox did not commit to QB Jake Delhomme as the team's starting quarterback. Fox said, "Like all positions, we'll evaluate it and whatever changes we need to make, we'll make." Delhomme has thrown a league-leading 13 interceptions this season.
The Huddle Take: Delhomme compiled 325 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bills, but he also posted his fourth multiple-interception game of the season and those picks contributed directly to the Panthers' fate. While Jake has certainly been lousy, perhaps a finger could be pointed at play-calling that resulted in 44 passes and 25 runs by one of the league's best ground games.
Posted: 9/20/2009 7:03am et
ESPN.com, reports six of Carolina Panthers QB Jake Delhomme's nine interceptions in his last two games played have been intended for WR Steve Smith.
The Huddle Take: It should not be a surprise to anyone that Delhomme is focusing more on his playmaker Steve Smith in the passing game to make the key plays like he has in the past. Unfortunately, the opposing defenses are aware of that also which has likely led to the increased amount of interceptions for Delhomme. Until the Panthers utilize Muhsin Muhammad and Dwayne Jarrett more in the passing game it will likely continue to struggle keeping this offense balanced.

Charles Chandler, of the Charlotte Observer, reports Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox said following the team's Week 1 game that QB Jake Delhomme will remain the starting quarterback for Week 2. "Obviously, I think we start back with Jake. I think we've got to go back and evaluate what happened to us. Personally, after not seeing the tape, I don't think that's all Jake's fault," Fox said.
The Huddle Take: Matt Moore and Luke McCown are the alternatives, which explains why the team is willing to roll with Delhomme again despite the nine interceptions over his past two games.
Posted: 4/23/2009 11:56pm et
CarolinaGrowl.com, reports the Carolina Panthers have signed QB Jake Delhomme to a five-year contract extension. The deal is worth $42.5 million with $20 million in guaranteed money, according to a source.
The Huddle Take: So much for a quarterback controversy in Carolina as the Panthers offered the long-term deal to Delhomme that will likely keep him in Carolina for the remainder of his NFL career. Delhomme has offered spotty fantasy production at times but has also posted some nice numbers when he has been healthy and on this game.
Posted: 4/16/2009 11:42pm et
CarolinaGrowl.com, reports Carolina Panthers general manager Marty Hurney said QB Jake Delhomme will be the team's starting quarterback this season.
The Huddle Take: Despite his struggles, Delhomme is a decent quarterback option for Carolina and provides the team with consistent quarterback play. Expect the Panthers quarterback to have some occasionally bad games during the season but fantasy owners should look at Delhomme as a nice No. 2 quarterback capable of filling in for injuries and bye weeks.
Posted: 1/11/2009 11:59pm et
The NFL Network reports the Carolina Panthers could save $6.325 million if they decide to release QB Jake Delhomme this offseason.
The Huddle Take: That's just a shade over $1 mil per turnover in the Panthers' playoff loss. While Delhomme was obviously not on his game Sunday, cutting him outright seems a little rash. Expect cooler heads to prevail... unless Carolina needs to come up with some extra scratch to keep Julius Peppers in town.
Posted: 1/11/2009 11:59pm et
CarolinaGrowl.com reports Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox said he still views QB Jake Delhomme as the team's starting quarterback despite Delhomme committing six turnovers against the Arizona Cardinals in a playoff loss. Fox said he believes Delhomme just had a bad day at the office. In his last two playoff games, Delhomme has thrown eight interceptions and just two touchdown passes. He has one year remaining on his contract with the team.
The Huddle Take: It's unlikely Delhomme's bad day at the office will cost him his starting gig, but it has certainly planted some seeds of doubt. That said, if you're a Steve Smith owner who do you want throwing the ball to (or at least near) your guy, Delhomme or Josh McCown?
