The Florida Times-Union, reports Jacksonville Jaguars WR Torry Holt showed signs of frustration with the play calling during the team's Week 2 game. 'I'm a competitor. So there's going to be times where I'm frustrated, and I'll voice that frustration,' Holt said. 'It wasn't at anybody, at any particular person or any particular thing. It was just a matter of wanting to win and expressing that. That's not really that big of a deal. I'm just trying to get us going and get us in the position where we can win.'
The Huddle Take: Jacksonville's offense has sputtered early on and should improve when they can get more consistency in both the running game and the passing game. The veteran Holt brings many tools to the offense but will remain ineffective as long as David Garrard struggles for consistency.

Vito Stellino, of The Florida Times-Union, reports the Jacksonville Jaguars believe WR Torry Holt will make a major impact both on and off the field this season. "I think the one thing that Torry has brought is a level of trust for David (Garrard), so he's aware that at third-and-7, he's going to run more than seven yards. I think that'll be a good thing for David," general manager Gene Smith said. Holt also has been working with several of the team's young receivers this offseason.
The Huddle Take: The key with Holt is the health of his knees. If he can still run, Holt dramatically upgrades the Jaguars' receiving corps and helps spread the field for Maurice Jones-Drew. If his knees are shot... well, a half-speed Holt can't be much worse than what the Jags have been trotting out at receiver the past couple of seasons.

Jaguars.com, reports Jacksonville Jaguars WR Torry Holt said reports of his decline have been exaggerated. Holt said, "A lot of that stuff about my knee and not being effective was all false. You never saw me missing games. I think it came down to us not being that good offensively. Everyone struggled." He added, "To be able to catch 64 passes in a disgruntled organization was actually pretty good. All this talk about my decline is false."
The Huddle Take: Holt brings an element of leadership and abilities to a team in dire need of a playmaking receiver. With Jacksonville going through many options at wideout over the last few seasons, Holt could emerge as a solid No. 2 receiving option for fantasy teams as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks to his knee problems this year.
Posted: 4/21/2009 12:36am et
John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports Jacksonville Jaguars WR Torry Holt agreed to a three-year contract Monday, April 20, that could be worth as much as $20 million, according to a source. The contract grows financially based on the way he plays. The deal calls for three years with base salaries totaling $13 million. There is no signing bonus, but the first year of the contract is guaranteed.
The Huddle Take: Holt is on the downslope of his career, and the Jaguars' offense pales in comparison to the Greatest Show on Turf-era Rams, so it's difficult to see Holt racking up the numbers to warrant that additional $7 million. That said, he immediately gives the Jags the quality target they've lacked since Jimmy Smith retired.
Posted: 4/19/2009 2:36am et
ESPN.com reports the Jacksonville Jaguars are close to a contract with unrestricted free-agent WR Torry Holt, sources have told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
The Huddle Take: The Jaguars certainly are desperate for wideouts, though the Titans were thought to be the frontrunners in the chase for Holt.
Posted: 3/27/2009 10:29pm et
The Nashville City Paper reports the Tennessee Titans are expected to show interest in unrestricted free-agent WR Torry Holt.
The Huddle Take: The Titans should be interested in any receiver with a pulse, and since they reportedly attempted to trade for Holt before the Rams released him it makes sense that they'd pursue him for free.
Posted: 3/17/2009 10:48pm et
The Sacramento Bee, reports the San Francisco 49ers have some interest in free-agent WR Torry Holt (Rams), but they are very skeptical about his right knee.
The Huddle Take: The talented veteran has had some problems with the knee in the past few seasons but still remains as a solid offensive weapon for NFL teams. Look for Holt to latch on to another team in the next few weeks as there appears to still be some gas left in the tank from a glorious career.
Posted: 3/13/2009 5:06pm et
The St. Louis Rams have announced they have released WR Torry Holt.
The Huddle Take: After ten seasons, Holt has seen a marked decline in his abilities that have been compounded by the offense around him. This leaves the Rams with no proven wideouts to start and yet Holt will still command some attention in the free agent market if only based on his name and past production.
Posted: 2/8/2009 10:58pm et
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the Rams would save $8 million in salary cap space if they release or trade WR Torry Holt.
The Huddle Take: It would be a pretty drastic step to release the one remaining holdover from the Rams' glory days, but in today's NFL anything is possible. Honestly, would you be all that surprised if Holt was on the streets looking for work this March?
