Minnesota Vikings CB Antoine Winfield (foot) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 20. He is listed as doubtful for Week 11 and will be a game-time decision.
The Huddle Take: T.J. Houshmandzadeh and the rest of the Seattle WR corps could post some quality numbers this week against a vulnerable Viking secondary.

Minnesota Vikings CB Antoine Winfield (foot) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 12, and it looks doubtful that he will play in Week 10.
The Huddle Take: If Calvin Johnson is fully healthy and can get back on the same page with Matthew Stafford, his Fantasy prospects are actually pretty good against a Viking secondary that's vulnerable without Winfield.

The Associated Press reports Minnesota Vikings CB Antoine Winfield's status for Week 10 is unclear. Winfield was in full gear at the beginning of practice Wednesday, Nov. 11, but he was not present at the end. Head coach Brad Childress said, "Just a matter of giving him more each day."
The Huddle Take: Winfield has missed the Vikings' last two games after suffering a foot injury in the Week 6 win over Baltimore. Minnesota seemingly wouldn't need to rush him back for a home date with the Lions, but the Vikings have to like that Winfield is back on the practice field at all.

Updating previous reports, ESPN.com reports Minnesota Vikings CB Antoine Winfield (foot) has been diagnosed with a fractured right foot, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. However, Winfield denied that he has a fractured foot, instead saying that he suffered only a sprain and that he was 'day-to-day.' 'It feels a lot better,' Winfield said. 'I was on crutches (until Friday). Now I'm in the boot. I'm walking on it and not feeling any pain so my goal is to get back out here and play against the Packers.'
The Huddle Take: The Vikings will definitely need Winfield against the pass-happy Packers, although Minnesota's pass defense was surprisingly good against the potent aerial attack of the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7. Don't look for their best pass defender to be on the field against Green Bay, however.

Minnesota Vikings CB Antoine Winfield (foot) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 22, and is likely to miss the team's Week 7 game.
The Huddle Take: Winfield's absence would be a huge blow to a defense already reeling from a collapse late in the Week 6 game against Baltimore. To make matters worse, safety Madieu Williams is hobbled by a quadriceps injury, although he's expected to play. Ben Roethlisberger, Hines Ward, Heath Miller and possibly Santonio Holmes and Mike Wallace could all be good plays this week against the Vikings.

ESPN.com reports Minnesota Vikings CB Antoine Winfield (foot) has a sprained foot, according to head coach Brad Childress. Childress would not say if the team would use CB Karl Paymah or another player in Winfield's place if he cannot play in Week 7.
The Huddle Take: If Winfield can't go, a potent Pittsburgh pass offense will be that much more dangerous against the Vikings this week. Santonio Holmes and Hines Ward would be good plays, as would Mike Wallace in deeper leagues.

The Associated Press reports Minnesota Vikings CB Antoine Winfield (foot) suffered a foot injury during the team's Week 6 game.
The Huddle Take: A horrible blow to the Minnesota secondary if it is determined he will miss any significant time. Check back early next week for updates on his injury.

ESPN.com reports the Minnesota Vikings have agreed to a new five-year deal with CB Antoine Winfield worth $36 million, according to a source. The deal includes $16.1 million in guaranteed money.
The Huddle Take: It was just a matter of time before the Vikings locked up one of the best corners in the league. With Winfield's signing, and the likelihood that the "Williams Wall" will stay intact along the defensive line, Minnesota's defense should once again be a formidable unit.

Sean Jensen, of the Pioneer Press, reports Minnesota Vikings CB Antoine Winfield said he is frustrated over his contract situation. Winfield believes he should have had a new deal in place by now. "I didn't expect to be in July without a deal," Winfield said. "Personally, I'm a little disappointed. They consider me a core player, but they're not showing me that... If they want me here, they should be able to get a deal done. There shouldn't be a problem. If they don't, then they need to say that and let's work toward a resolution that works out good for everyone."
The Huddle Take: Most of the Vikings' offseason has been focused on dodging Brett Favre questions and treating Percy Harvin for whatever his latest ailment is, so perhaps they haven't had time to address Winfield's contract situation. This is playing out similar to the way the Vikings nudged Pro Bowl center Matt Birk out the door: no extension offer prior to the season, followed by a lowball offer after the season and a quick wave goodbye while they turn the position over to a younger player.
Posted: 5/11/2009 11:01am et
Sean Jensen, of the Pioneer Press, reports the agent for Minnesota Vikings CB Antoine Winfield, Ashanti Webb, said Sunday, May 10, that talks of a contract extension with the team have broken down. "There are no active negotiations and there are no further talks planned," Webb said in a text message. Webb did not return follow-up messages asking whether he or the Vikings cut off talks and whether Winfield would attend the team's mandatory minicamp later this month.
The Huddle Take: In an offseason that has already seen the departures of Matt Birk and Darren Sharper, the Vikings appear ready to run off another key veteran. The third-round pick of CB Asher Allen suggests Minnesota may already be planning for life without Winfield.
