The Boston Herald reports the New England Patriots will be down to just three running backs - Kevin Faulk, BenJarvus Green-Ellis and FB Heath Evans - during Week 9.
The Huddle Take: This means Sammy Morris and LaMont Jordan are both out, not game time decisions. This is good in the sense that owners are not left wondering. Based on last week, BenJarvus Green-Ellis could be the dark horse 'sleeper' in the mess and could see the biggest uptick in productivity.

Patriots.com reports New England Patriots RB Kevin Faulk is likely to continue his third-down role. However, if Faulk struggles, RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis may step in to the role.
The Huddle Take: Faulk has been a nice versatile change of pace back in the New England offense and should remain in similar role this season. With Laurence Maroney and Sammy Morris also in the backfield, Faulk will have a limited number of touches as New England shall certainly remain a pass first offense.

The Boston Globe reports New England Patriots RB Kevin Faulk has pleaded no contest to misdemeanor possession on marijuana, according to KATC-TV. Faulk will have his five-month jail term suspended and will be given a one-year supervised probation with several conditions. He will have to pay a fine of $300 along with $231 in court costs and a $250 fee for a drug analysis. Also, he will have to perform 40 hours of community service and complete 20 hours of a substance abuse program.
The Huddle Take: This slap on the wrist won't affect Faulk unless the commissioner puts the hammer down on him with some sort of suspension. And at this point that seems unlikely. If Faulk plays as expected, look for the normal third-down production from him.
