Denver Broncos LB Von Miller agreed to a six-year, $114.5 million deal Friday, July 15. The deal includes a $23 million signing bonus and $42 million fully guaranteed at signing. He receives a total of $70 million in guarantees.

Huddle Up: As fully expected, Miller made out big time in the last-hour deal, becoming the highest-paid non-QB in the league. Now, the Broncos -- and his IDP-league owners -- will have to hope they get closer to 2015 playoff-level production out of Miller rather than his regular-season numbers, which were above average but not great.

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos LB Von Miller was contacted by general manager John Elway over the weekend. Elway wanted to personally talk to Miller to express his desire to work out a long-term deal. Both sides talked for 10 to 15 minutes, and Elway told Miller that the Broncos still love him and still want him to return to Denver, according to sources.

Huddle Up: If Elway and his ego can give a little ground and up the guaranteed money by the July 15 deadline, the reigning Super Bowl MVP will get the long-term extension he richly deserves.

Denver Broncos LB Von Miller posted on Instagram Thursday, June 16, that he will not play the 2016 season under the franchise tag.

Huddle Up: Still hard to see things coming to this with the reigning Super Bowl MVP in his prime earning years and the Broncos with ample cap room to make him the league's highest-paid defensive player. Look for long-term deal to ultimately be struck before the July 15 deadline.

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos LB Von Miller rejected a six-year, $114.5 million deal at some point between Monday, June 6, and Wednesday, June 8. A source close to Miller said the player actually accepted two significant parts of the offer Monday: specifically, the length of the contract (six years) and the overall money ($114.5 million). However, the guaranteed money is apparently where the impasse is, and the impasse has escalated so quickly that Miller could sit out the 2016 season entirely.

Huddle Up: Sure, it's a possibility, but not likely. The Broncos thought they'd float more of a team-friendly deal, but Miller holds the leverage and the hammer here even though he's on the franchise tag for 2016 and expect the Broncos to come up with enough guaranteed $$$ before the July 15 deadline.

Denver Broncos franchise free-agent CB Von Miller said he wants to sign a long-term contract that will keep him in Denver for the rest of his career. 'I'm going to be here in Denver no matter what,' Miller said. 'The contract is going to take care of itself. I'm going to be a Denver Bronco for life.' However, Miller isn't expected to show up for workouts this week.

Huddle Up: Miller and the Broncos have until July 15 to work out a long-term deal or he'll play under the franchise tag this coming season. Miller's IDP owners can't quibble, but they wouldn't mind seeing his 2015 postseason production (five sacks, two forced fumble, interception) carry over into the regular season after he had 11 sacks in 2015.

Denver Broncos impending free-agent LB Von Miller received the exclusive franchise tag from the team Tuesday, March 1.

Huddle Up: As fully expected, the Broncos weren't about to let the Super Bowl 50 MVP get away, and they weren't even taking chances with the franchise tag, making it exclusive so no other team would be tempted to make Miller an offer and surrender two first-round picks.

Denver Broncos impending free-agent LB Von Miller has had talks about a long-term deal, and there's optimism that it gets done, according to sources.

Huddle Up: After his playoff tour de force, Miller is the no-doubter atop the Broncos' offseason to-sign list, and he'll get the franchise tag even if a long-term deal doesn't get done.

Denver Broncos impending free-agent LB Von Miller likely will receive the franchise tag this offseason if the two sides are not able to agree on a long-term contract, according to sources.

Huddle Up: Miller's already-high pricetag jumped a bracket or two after his dominating performance in the AFC title game, and if he follows up with a similar effort in Super Bowl 50, the franchise tag might be even more of a definite possibility.

Denver Broncos impending free-agent LB Von Miller figures to be at the top of the Broncos' priority list this offseason, especially coming off a dominating performance in the AFC Championship Game. Denver's other big-name impending free agents on defense include DE Malik Jackson and LB Danny Trevathan.

Huddle Up: The price of poker just went up as Miller's already lucrative pricetag just climbed after 2.5 sacks and an interception vs. the Patriots. A similar-type game against Cam Newton and the high-scoring Panthers could send the asking price into orbit.
