Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (thumb) said he will be ready to go when practices begin, and he has already been practicing the formations for head coach Zac Taylor's offense.

Huddle Up: Dalton will have a few QB1 performances over the course of the year, but he's a QB2 overall.

  • Posted: 3/27/2019 5:07pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton will not receive a contract extension this offseason because the team wants to see how he plays in 2019, according to owner Mike Brown.

Huddle Up: Dalton was limited to 11 games this past season and threw for only 2,566 yards. He will be playing in a new offensive scheme next season and will have a solid receiving group to work with on offense. He should be considered a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 2/15/2019 6:20pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (thumb) was able to begin throwing a football a couple of weeks ago.

Huddle Up: Dalton should be ready to go for the start of the season, and while he can deliver some big games against the right opponents, his overall ceiling is in the QB2 range.

  • Posted: 2/6/2019 10:48am ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton drew praise from new Bengals head coach Zac Taylor Tuesday, Feb. 5, saying the veteran quarterback is a 'great fit' for the coaching staff's offensive system. 'I've seen Andy do all of the things we've asked (Jared Goff) to do (in Los Angeles),' Taylor said. 'He's great under center, great in play action, great on the perimeter and the nakeds (bootlegs), and he's been an accurate passer when asked to drop back.'

Huddle Up: Dalton is capable of posting a few notable stat lines with the right matchups, but gamers would be taking an unnecessary risk to make him anything more than a midrange reserve.

  • Posted: 1/24/2019 8:14pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton has a 'number of years' left, according to director of player personnel Duke Tobin, and Tobin said the team is 'comfortable' with Dalton as the starting quarterback.

Huddle Up: With a new coaching regime coming to Cincinnati, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Bengals begin to search for their quarterback of the future sooner rather than later. That being said, Dalton should be under center in 2019, providing respectable QB2 production.

  • Posted: 11/26/2018 1:34pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (thumb) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Nov. 26. QB Tom Savage was claimed off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers in a corresponding move.

Huddle Up: With Dalton done for the year, Jeff Driskel figures to start for the remainder of Cincinnati's games. He held his own after replacing Dalton in Week 12, but he's not on the fantasy radar in traditional leagues.

  • Posted: 11/25/2018 3:28pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Jeff Driskel completed 17-of-29 passes for 155 yards, one touchdown and no interception in Week 12 against the Cleveland Browns, coming on for the injured QB Andy Dalton (thumb).

Huddle Up: It's uncertain if Dalton will need to miss playing time, but if he starts Driskel isn't a terribly attractive fantasy option heading into Week 13 against the Denver Broncos.

  • Posted: 11/25/2018 12:44pm ET

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (thumb) will not return to the Week 12 game because of his right thumb injury.

Huddle Up: Owners should know the severity of Dalton's injury in the next day or two. Jeff Driskel will be the starting quarterback if Dalton misses any playing time and can be avoided in all fantasy league.

  • Posted: 11/25/2018 12:05pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (thumb) suffered a right thumb injury during the Week 12 game and is considered questionable to return.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to monitor the situation to see how long Dalton may be sidelined because of the injury. Jeff Driskel would be the starting quarterback if Dalton misses time and should be avoided in all fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 11/18/2018 2:37pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton went 19-for-36 for 211 yards and two touchdowns against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 11. He also rushed for 29 yards on two carries during the game.

Huddle Up: Dalton has been held to under 250 yards in five of the last six games but has nine touchdowns during that span. He will be facing a solid Cleveland Browns defense in Week 11 but could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in some deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 11/11/2018 1:45pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton completed 12-of-20 passes for 153 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the Week 10 loss against the New Orleans Saints.

Huddle Up: Dalton was sacked four times and he was hassled by the Saints defense all day, and it got worse as the day went on. The team abandoned the run with a lopsided score on the board and the defense just pinned their ears back. He'll look to rebound in Baltimore in Week 11.

  • Posted: 10/28/2018 4:34pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton completed 21-of-34 passes for 280 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 8 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he rushed for 10 yards.

Huddle Up: Dalton tossed four interceptions in a game at Carolina in Week 3. While he had a season-high in yardage in that game, he also had a season-high in miscues. He had thrown just three INTs in five games since while piling up nine TD strikes. Dalton remains a fringe low-end QB1/QB2 in most fantasy leagues. The Bengals are off in Week 9.

  • Posted: 10/21/2018 11:49pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton finished 15-of-29 of 148 yards and a touchdown in Week 7 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He also was intercepted once.

Huddle Up: Dalton has been one of fantasy's top quarterbacks so far, but it was just not meant to be against Kansas City. Whether he felt the pressure to keep pace with Patrick Mahomes or not is debatable, but the entire offense started out sluggish. He also telegraphed a throw on the first drive of the third quarter that resulted in a pick-six and ended whatever chance Cincinnati had of getting back into the game. Dalton should bounce back in Week 8, however, and will be in the QB1 discussion versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

  • Posted: 10/19/2018 1:50pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (back) practiced in full for the third straight day Friday, Oct. 17 and he has been removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 7 game with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Huddle Up: Dalton will be facing the 31st-ranked pass defense in the NFL, yielding 340.3 yards per game with 31 pass plays of 20 yard or more allowed. Dalton is a very good low-end TE1 option this week playing under the Sunday night lights.

  • Posted: 10/18/2018 11:53am ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (back) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 18.

Huddle Up: Dalton appears to be on track to play in Week 7 and may be part of a high-scoring game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He could be considered a low-end No. 1 quarterback in most leagues this week.

  • Posted: 10/17/2018 2:37pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (back) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 17.

Huddle Up: Dalton is likely to be lifted from the injury report Friday if he keeps practicing in full. The Chiefs rank 31st against the pass, allowing 340.3 yards per game with 31 pass plays of 20 yard or more allowed. Dalton is a legit low-end TE1 for Sunday Night Football barring any setbacks.

  • Posted: 10/14/2018 2:37pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton completed 26-of-42 passes for 229 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 6 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Huddle Up: Dalton has posted at least two touchdown strikes in five of his six games this season, and he really has had one only poor game statistically when he was picked off four times in Week 3 against the Carolina Panthers. He faces a tough matchup on the road in Kansas City in Week 7.

  • Posted: 10/7/2018 2:37pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton went 20-for-30 for 248 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the Miami Dolphins in Week 5.

Huddle Up: Dalton has been playing well this season and has thrown at least two touchdowns in four of the first five games. He should have a favorable matchup next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers and could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in some leagues.

  • Posted: 9/30/2018 2:02pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton completed 29-of-41 passes for 337 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in the Week 4 game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Huddle Up: The Falcons and Bengals got into an old-fashioned shootout under the Mercedes-Benz Dome as expected, and Dalton went over 300 yards for the second straight week while posting two or more TDs for the fourth time in four tries this season. The Bengals host the Dolphins in Week 5, and he has re-emerged as a low-end QB1 in most fantasy formats.

  • Posted: 9/23/2018 2:04pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton completed 29-of-46 passes for 352 yards with two touchdowns and four interceptions in Week 3 against the Carolina Panthers.

Huddle Up: Dalton had a decent fantasy line, but the four interceptions were very worrisome. He had just one 300-yard game last season, and his passing yardage was his most since dropping 366 yards in a loss at Pittsburgh back on Sept. 18, 2016. Despite the solid yardage total he is still more of a QB2 in most fantasy leagues heading into Week 4 against the Atlanta Falcons.

  • Posted: 9/13/2018 8:17pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton completed 24-for-42 for 265 yards and four touchdown passes Thursday, Sept. 13, against the Baltimore Ravens.

Huddle Up: The Bengals boast plenty of weapons to make the veteran a fringe starter on a weekly basis. Up next, Cincinnati faces the Carolina Panthers in Week 3 with a few extra days of rest working in its favor.

  • Posted: 9/9/2018 1:08pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton completed 21-of-28 passes for 243 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the Week 1 road win against the Indianapolis Colts.

Huddle Up: Dalton was sacked twice, but he was able to post a 109.7 quarterback rating with a high degree of accuracy. As usual, he also jelled rather nicely with A.J. Green, who rolled up 92 yards on six grabs, including one of the TDs. It's a quick turnaround for the Bengals, as they have their home opener in Week 2 against the division rival Baltimore Ravens.

  • Posted: 9/2/2018 7:04pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton led the NFL with a 130.9 passer rating during the preseason.

Huddle Up: With John Ross and Tyler Eifert currently healthy and upgrades to the offensive line, Dalton is in position to bounce back from a tough 2017 season. High-end QB2 production seems likely, and he should be a viable starting option against friendlier matchups.

  • Posted: 8/26/2018 2:24pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton finished 11-of-16 for 180 yards and two touchdowns in less than a half of action in the team's third preseason game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Aug. 26.

Huddle Up: Dalton opened with a 57-yard touchdown strike to John Ross and didn't look back the rest of the way. He added a 14-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Green later in the first quarter and led the Bengals to three scoring drives in all in five drives. Behind what should be an improved offensive line this season, Dalton has a shot to deliver high-end QB2 - if not low-end QB1 - production in 2018.

  • Posted: 8/9/2018 6:24pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton completed six of his eight pass attempts for 103 yards, two touchdowns and an interception against the Chicago Bears in the preseason Thursday, Aug. 9.

Huddle Up: With a healthier supporting cast and an improved offensive line, Dalton could sneak back into QB1 territory in 2018. At worst, he's a solid fantasy backup.
