Philadelphia Eagles WR Torrey Smith caught one pass for 50 yards and one touchdown against the Miami Dolphins Thursday, Aug. 24.

Huddle Up: Smith posted only 267 yards and three touchdowns last season but will have better numbers with the Eagles since he likely will be a starter this season. Smith will be a deep threat for the Eagles and could be a late-round option in drafts as a No. 5 receiver.

  • Posted: 8/2/2017 6:05am ET

Philadelphia Eagles WR Torrey Smith (back) returned to practice Wednesday, Aug. 2.

Huddle Up: Smith has some WR5 value in this offense as a deep threat.

  • Posted: 8/1/2017 5:42am ET

Philadelphia Eagles WR Torrey Smith (back) is out of practice Tuesday, Aug. 1, due to back spasms.

Huddle Up: Smith was an afterthought in fantasy last year, but he has some WR5 luster on this team.

  • Posted: 6/5/2017 4:16pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles WR Torrey Smith caught multiple deep throws from QB Carson Wentz during organized team activities Monday, June 5. Smith said he is still working on improving his chemistry with Wentz.

Huddle Up: Smith is coming off a disappointing 2016 season where he posted 267 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games. He should be more involved in the Eagles passing game and likely will be used as a deep threat. Owners should consider Smith as a No. 5 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 5/27/2017 9:04pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles WR Torrey Smith will look more like the receiver he was with the Baltimore Ravens, according to beat writer Tim McManus.

Huddle Up: Smith still has big-play speed, and he is worth a look as a WR5 in case he does rebound in 2017.

  • Posted: 3/9/2017 8:15am ET

Free-agent WR Torrey Smith (49ers) has agreed to a three-year, $15 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday, March 9.

Huddle Up: This actually could be an underrated move. The major question is whether the team trades Jordan Matthews or Nelson Agholor. Smith is a deep threat that could fit in well with the cast, and he has some bang for the WR5 buck.

  • Posted: 3/7/2017 9:40am ET

Updating previous reports, San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith was released Tuesday, March 7.

Huddle Up: Smith was a bust in San Fran, and he's pretty one-dimensional. That dimension, however, could make for a nice slot receiver on a good team. He still has fantasy clout on the back end of receiving corps.

  • Posted: 2/17/2017 7:58pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith said he is excited for head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense because he 'tailors it to people's strengths.'

Huddle Up: Big plays were absent from San Francisco's offense last year, and Smith had arguably the worst season of his career. He looks like a WR5 heading into 2017.

  • Posted: 12/22/2016 6:43pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith (concussion) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 22.

Huddle Up: Smith has endured a miserable year, and even if he takes the field in Week 16, he shouldn't be starting in any format.

  • Posted: 12/16/2016 7:16pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith (concussion) did not practice Friday, Dec. 16, and has been ruled out for Week 15.

Huddle Up: Smith was having an awful year even when healthy. It's well past time to cut him loose.

  • Posted: 12/11/2016 3:28pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith (concussion) was carted off in the second half of the Week 14 game against the New York Jets. He hit his head hard on the field attempting a catch. He has been diagnosed with a concussion and will not return.

Huddle Up: With Smith on the shelf it will be Jeremy Kerley, Quinton Patton and Rod Streater handling the wideout targets the rest of the day. Smith finished without a catch on his only target.

  • Posted: 12/3/2016 5:49pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith said he doesn't think he has had a ball thrown to him on a go route all season but believes he can still be effective stretching the field.

Huddle Up: Smith has been an all-or-nothing fantasy play throughout his career, and he simply isn't worth owning when he isn't connecting on big plays.

  • Posted: 12/1/2016 6:20pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 1.

Huddle Up: Smith is suffering through the worst year of his career, and he doesn't need to be owned, let alone starting, in any format.

  • Posted: 11/27/2016 2:54pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith caught three passes for 24 yards and a touchdown in Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins.

Huddle Up: Smith has virtually no fantasy value at this point, and starting him in any traditional format is asking for it. Consider anything positive from him as gravy.

  • Posted: 11/27/2016 9:14am ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith (shoulder) is officially active for the team's Week 12 game.

Huddle Up: Smith should serve as the team's top receiver and will receive a decent amount of targets, but owners in most leagues should be able to find better options to use in their lineups.

  • Posted: 11/27/2016 7:26am ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith (shoulder) is expected to return to action in Week 12's game against the Miami Dolphins. However, he will take part in pregame warmups before a final decision is made.

Huddle Up: Smith has eclipsed the 50-yard receiving mark just twice in nine games this year and is experiencing the worst season of his career. He shouldn't be started in any fantasy format at this point.

  • Posted: 11/26/2016 6:17pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith (shoulder) said his shoulder is feeling 'way better,' and he feels refreshed physically and mentally after sitting out Week 11.

Huddle Up: Smith is suffering through the worst year of his career, and the speedy receiver has managed just one big play all year. He doesn't need to be owned in standard formats and isn't even worth taking a chance on in DFS games at this point.

  • Posted: 11/20/2016 12:21pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith (shoulder) has been declared inactive for the team's Week 11 game.

Huddle Up: Jeremy Kerley and Quinton Patton probably will receive most of the targets at wide receiver during the game, but neither player should be used in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 11/17/2016 7:44pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith (back) returned to practice on a limited basis Thursday, Nov. 17.

Huddle Up: Smith is still questionable to suit up, but with just 17 catches all year, he shouldn't be starting in any format even if he does play.

  • Posted: 11/13/2016 9:49pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith managed two receptions for just 26 yards in the Week 10 game against the Arizona Cardinals. He was targeted four times.

Huddle Up: Smith appears to have slipped behind Jeremy Kerley and Quinton Patton in the pecking order for receptions, and he is only worth keeping around in the deepest of fantasy formats heading into Week 11 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

  • Posted: 11/10/2016 6:48pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith (back) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 10.

Huddle Up: Smith has been missing in action most of the year, and he shouldn't be starting in any format right now.

  • Posted: 11/9/2016 1:36pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith (back) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Huddle Up: Smith should have a decent chance to play in Week 10, but owners can monitor the situation. Smith has not caught more than three passes in a game this season and has at least 50 yards on only two of the eight games in 2016. Owners in all leagues should be able to find better options to use.

  • Posted: 11/6/2016 10:13pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith posted two catches for just 18 yards on three targets in the Week 9 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Huddle Up: Smith entered the season as the team's No. 1 receiver, but he has just 15 grabs for 217 yards and two scores. He is only worth rostering in the deepest of fantasy rosters at this point.

  • Posted: 10/24/2016 7:48pm ET

The Philadelphia Eagles are interested in San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith, and the two sides are discussing a trade Monday, Oct. 24, multiple sources said. While no deal is imminent, the Eagles are interested in bolstering their wide receiver corps for a run at the NFC East title. The trade deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Huddle Up: A move to a contending team would be a nice boost for Smith's fantasy appeal. He has been a bust in San Francisco, but it has little to do with Smith and a lot to do with a murky quarterback situation which has just as many questions as ever heading into Week 8. Avoid Smith in fantasy if he somehow stays in San Francisco past Nov. 1.

  • Posted: 10/24/2016 7:05pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith is on the trade block leading up to the Nov. 1 NFL trade deadline, sources said Monday, Oct. 24. Multiple teams have shown interest.

Huddle Up: Smith entered the season as the No. 1 receiver in San Francisco, but due to erratic quarterback play and a shaky offense, Smith hasn't really taken off from a fantasy perspective. Perhaps a deal to a contender with a top-flight quarterback will make him a fantasy sleeper down the stretch. If you currently own him, hang on as his value might be ready to take off.

  • Posted: 10/23/2016 10:01pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith posted just one reception for 17 yards on two targets in the Week 7 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Huddle Up: Smith entered the season as the No. 1 receiver in San Francisco, and technically still is, but with a murky quarterback situation Smith is nothing more than a depth player in most fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams. The 49ers are off in Week 8.

  • Posted: 10/23/2016 12:09pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith (back) is officially active for the team's Week 7 game.

Huddle Up: Smith is coming off his best game of the season and appears to have a solid chemistry with Colin Kaepernick. He should see a solid amount of targets this week and can be a flex option in deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 10/21/2016 1:40pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith (back) was limited in practice Friday, Oct. 21, and will be questionable to play Week 7 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Huddle Up: Smith had his best fantasy day of the season in Colin Kaepernick's debut last week, but he still has yet to record more than three catches in any game this season. Tampa Bay's secondary is weak enough for Smith to have a big day, but a Carlos Hyde-less offense this week could also result in Tampa Bay giving more to Smith's side. Smith is best left on fantasy benches in deeper leagues or the waiver wire in leagues with smaller benches for now.

  • Posted: 10/16/2016 1:48pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith caught three passes for 76 yards and one touchdown against the Buffalo Bills in Week 6.

Huddle Up: Smith has been pretty quiet this season but has a chance to be more involved in the passing game with Colin Kaepernick as the starting quarterback. Owners may want to see Smith play in another game, but he has a chance to be a flex option in deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 9/30/2016 4:59pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith (foot) fully participated in the team's walkthrough Friday, Sept. 30, and is not on the injury report for Week 4.

Huddle Up: Smith should continue to be the No. 1 receiver for the 49ers and will be targeted in the passing game. He has recorded 103 yards in the first three games of the season and probably should only be a flex option in deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 9/29/2016 8:01pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith (foot) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 29.

Huddle Up: Smith has hauled in just eight of his 20 targets this year, and he hasn't been making big plays down the field. You should be able to find a better option at receiver.

  • Posted: 9/28/2016 5:09pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith (foot) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Huddle Up: Smith should be able to play in Week 4 and probably will be a focal point in the passing game. Smith should have value in deeper leagues as a flex option, but he can probably be avoided in most leagues.

  • Posted: 9/28/2016 11:36am ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith (ankle) suffered an apparent ankle injury during the team's Week 3 game, but head coach Chip Kelly said Smith will be fine.

Huddle Up: Smith is off to a decent start this season but has caught only eight passes on 20 targets. He should continue to be one of the top targets in the 49ers' passing game but probably should only be a flex option in most leagues.
