Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent RB Jacquizz Rodgers is expected to re-sign with the Buccaneers, according to a source.

Huddle Up: With Doug Martin's situation with the team up in the air, Rodgers could be an RB3 flyer in fantasy drafts. He'll have value in any event. Stay tuned throughout the offseason to see how it unfolds.

  • Posted: 1/23/2017 5:02pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter said he hopes the team will be able to re-sign impending free-agent RB Jacquizz Rodgers this offseason.

Huddle Up: Rodgers did not start the season as the starter but received a better role during the season and finished as the team's leading rusher with 560 yards. Rodgers probably would have a decent chance for the starting job if he returns to Tampa and would be a No. 2 or No. 3 running back in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 12/30/2016 8:45pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers is expected to see a heavy workload against the Carolina Panthers in Week 17.

Huddle Up: Injuries have paved the way for Rodgers to lead the backfield, and when he started against Carolina earlier in the year, he topped 100 yards on the ground. He should sneak into RB2 territory in Week 17.

  • Posted: 12/24/2016 11:52pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries Saturday, Dec. 24, in a 31-24 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Huddle Up: With Doug Martin off the canvas due to a coach's decision (it was not injury-related), Rodgers will likely see a larger role in Week 17 if Martin doesn't play. And with the Buccaneers nearly out of playoff contention, they may not rush Martin back. Rodgers could see a larger chunk of time in the coming game as well.

  • Posted: 12/7/2016 10:54pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers might see added playing time in Week 14 against the New Orleans Saints. 'It was good to get him back,' offensive coordinator Todd Monken said Wednesday, Dec. 7. 'I would assume he'll only be better this week in a little more of an expanded role.'

Huddle Up: Rodgers was lighting it up before his injury, but that was also when Doug Martin and Charles Sims were on the shelf. He now has Martin and Sims to contend with for touches. Still, Rodgers is worth a look again in deeper PPR leagues, especially against a porous Saints pass defense.

  • Posted: 11/23/2016 7:53pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (foot) could have practiced last week, a league source said Wednesday, Nov. 23, but the team is approaching his return 'extremely cautiously.' He is unlikely to play in Week 12 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Huddle Up: Before Rodgers' injury, he was starting with Doug Martin and Charles Sims on the shelf. Now, Martin is back and Sims is on the recovery trail. Even when Rodgers is able to return he is only worth a look in the deepest of PPR leagues.

  • Posted: 11/18/2016 2:20pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (foot) will not play in Week 11 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Huddle Up: Rodgers figures to remain sidelined indefinitely, although he did shed his walking boot earlier this week. When he is cleared to return, owners should expect him to assume the same complementary passing-down role that made Charles Sims a bit of a late-season fantasy stud last year.

  • Posted: 11/11/2016 1:32pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (foot) did not practice again Friday, Nov. 11, and he has been ruled out for the Week 10 game against the Chicago Bears. In fact, he was still seen in the locker room wearing his walking boot.

Huddle Up: With Doug Martin unlikely to make his return, it appears Peyton Barber and Mike James will shoulder the load against the Bears.

  • Posted: 11/10/2016 3:43pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (foot) missed practice for the second consecutive day Thursday, Nov. 10.

Huddle Up: Rodgers only just got out of his walking boot on Wednesday, so it's looking pretty likely that the former Atlanta Falcon will have to miss another game this weekend. With Doug Martin trending towards a return, owners can fire him back up immediately, and Rodgers' anticipated absence means Peyton Barber should maintain at least a little bit of value, though he's more suited for the deepest of leagues in this role.

  • Posted: 11/9/2016 9:28pm ET

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (foot) was out of his walking boot Wednesday, Nov. 9, but he did not practice. Beat writer Greg Auman believes Rodgers is unlikely to play in Week 10 against the Chicago Bears.

Huddle Up: Doug Martin is making progress, and Peyton Barber looked decent last week. If Rodgers doesn't return soon, he is likely to see a very small piece of the pie in the Tampa backfield and much lower fantasy appeal.

  • Posted: 11/8/2016 9:45am ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (foot) is still in a walking boot and appears to be a 'longshot' to suit up against the Chicago Bears in Week 10, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine.

Huddle Up: Rodgers hasn't practiced since suffering the injury in Week 8 and appears likely to join Doug Martin (hamstring), Charles Sims (knee) and Antone Smith (knee) on the sideline this weekend. Peyton Barber will likely get the start barring the unexpected and should be considered a midrange flex option, while Mike James would likely serve as his backup.

  • Posted: 11/7/2016 9:27am ET

Updating a previous story, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (foot) did not practice Monday, Nov. 7, and is still wearing a walking boot eight days after suffering a foot sprain during a Week 8 loss to the Oakland Raiders.

Huddle Up: Rodgers obviously isn't off to a good start in regards to playing Week 10 versus the Chicago Bears, so owners may need to be prepared for another week of Peyton Barber since it appears Doug Martin (hamstring) still isn't ready to return. Regardless of which player gets the nod, Rodgers and Barber should be considered RB2 options this week.

  • Posted: 11/7/2016 7:55am ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (foot) was out of practice Monday, Nov. 7.

Huddle Up: Rodgers was pretty solid before missing Week 9 with the injury. If he's able to make it back, and Doug Martin (hamstring) can't, Rodgers would be a flex consideration against the Chicago Bears.

  • Posted: 11/2/2016 12:15pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (foot) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 2, and has been ruled out for Week 9.

Huddle Up: It is not known if Antone Smith or Peyton Barber will receive most of the work at running back, but Smith did receive more playing time than Barber last week. Smith is probably the safer option between the two and can be a flex option in some leagues but does come with some risk since his role is not known.

  • Posted: 11/1/2016 11:52am ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (foot) did not practice Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Huddle Up: It's looking pretty unlikely that Rodgers will be taking the field Thursday night. Doug Martin probably won't play, so Peyton Barber may be given the starting duties. The Atlanta Falcons have been worse than average against the run this year, too, so Barber would have sleeper appeal, especially in daily contests.

  • Posted: 10/31/2016 4:58pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (foot) was not part of practice Monday, Oct. 31. He is dealing with a foot sprain. Rodgers' status is an estimation as the Buccaneers did not practice.

Huddle Up: Rodgers is looking pretty iffy for Week 9 since the Buccaneers play Thursday night. If he and Doug Martin are both sidelined then Peyton Barber would make for a sneaky add and start, especially for those who own Martin and/or Rodgers.

  • Posted: 10/31/2016 12:03pm ET

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (foot) was spotted in a walking boot after being diagnosed with a sprained left foot Monday, Oct. 31.

Huddle Up: No immediate timetable was given, but it is safe to say the odds are extremely high he will sit out Thursday night's game with the Atlanta Falcons to begin Week 9. Antone Smith, Peyton Barber and recently re-signed Mike James are expected to form a committee in his absence, with Smith the best bet of the three to lead the backfield in touches. Owners can gamble on Smith if they are desperate at running back this week, but he's a low-end flex option with a low floor.

  • Posted: 10/31/2016 9:06am ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (ankle) is awaiting news on the foot he injured late in a Week 8 loss to the Oakland Raiders. 'I don't think it's probably good,' coach Dirk Koetter said after the game. 'But I don't know for sure. It's something to do with his ankle,' head coach Dirk Koetter told reporters Monday.

Huddle Up: The only positive that can be taken from Koetter's statement is that he admitted he didn't 'know for sure', but owners should plan on being without him as Tampa Bay plays again on Thursday. Antone Smith out-snapped presumed backup Peyton Barber 22-3 versus the Raiders and should be considered the next man up for Tampa Bay.

  • Posted: 10/30/2016 4:28pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers rushed 19 times for 69 yards and a touchdown in the Week 8 game against the Oakland Raiders, and he added one reception for nine yards.

Huddle Up: It wasn't a terrible day for Rodgers, but he was unable to post his third straight 100-yard game in place of the injured Doug Martin. As long as Rodgers continues to start he is a solid RB2 in most fantasy leagues, and it's uncertain if Martin will be able to return in Week 9 considering the team has a short week before hosting the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night.

  • Posted: 10/23/2016 8:35pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers carried 26 times for a career-high 154 yards in the Week 7 game against the San Francisco 49ers. He also had one reception for nine yards, and had 97 yards after contact, third-best in the NFL this season. 'I've been waiting on this moment so my job is to take advantage of it,' Rodgers said Sunday, Oct. 23.

Huddle Up: Rodgers filled in admirably with Doug Martin and Charles Sims on the shelf due to injury. He faced the league's worst-ranked rush defense, and he came up big. He has back-to-back 100-yard games after having never accomplished the feat in his first five NFL seasons. Rodgers is worth a look as an RB3 in all fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 10/22/2016 7:39pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers has the trust of head coach Dirk Koetter, and Koetter said he plans to 'feed the stud' if he is hot.

Huddle Up: Rodgers had 30 carries in Week 6, and it sounds like Koetter is prepared to give him a big workload again. He is RB2 candidate in Week 7 against a porous San Francisco run defense.

  • Posted: 10/19/2016 8:12pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers is expected to start in Week 7 against the San Francisco 49ers, the league's 32nd-ranked rush defense. RB Doug Martin (hamstring) had a setback, and RB Charles Sims (knee) was placed on Reserve/Injured last week.

Huddle Up: Rodgers is worth a roll of the dice as a low-end RB2 in most fantasy leagues considering how bad the 49ers have been against the run. They have allowed 174.5 yards per game with nine rushing touchdowns. The next nearest team in rush defense, the Miami Dolphins, rank 31st allowing 147.0 yards per game.

  • Posted: 10/10/2016 9:41pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers ran 30 times for 101 yards in the Week 5 game against the Carolina Panthers Monday, Oct. 10. He also had five receptions for 28 yards on six targets.

Huddle Up: Rodgers wasn't even in the team's plans heading into Week 1, but he stepped up with Doug Martin and Charles Sims sidelined. The team has a bye in Week 6 to get back to health, so Rodgers' fantasy outlook is rather murky. If he gets another chance to start, however, he is worth a look as an RB2 in most formats, especially PPR leagues.

  • Posted: 9/23/2016 8:01pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers said he only expects to play when RB Charles Sims needs a breather.

Huddle Up: It sounds like Sims will see plenty of touches against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3, and he is a RB2 candidate, especially in PPR formats.
