New York Jets RB Bilal Powell amassed 82 carries for 411 yards and two touchdowns while adding 21 catches for 141 yards over the final four games of the regular season.

Huddle Up: It's worth remembering Powell pulled off this feat with Bryce Petty and Ryan Fitzpatrick under center and behind a banged-up offensive line as well as a defense that didn't look like it cared at times toward the end of the season. Powell's strong finish should put him in line to begin 2017 no worse than a split backfield partner, although the film suggests he should start over Matt Forte. As such, Powell should be considered a high-upside flex for now.

  • Posted: 1/2/2017 3:12pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell may receive a bigger role in 2017 after he played well over the last month of the season, according to head coach Todd Bowles. Powell rushed for 411 yards over the last four games of the season, which was third most in the league during that span.

Huddle Up: Powell could receive a chance to compete for the starting job during training camp but will still have a solid role in the offense even if he does not start. He will be involved in the running and passing game in 2017 and should be considered a middle-round pick in drafts.

  • Posted: 1/1/2017 9:42pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell rushed for 122 yards on 22 carries in the Week 17 game against the Buffalo Bills. He also had three receptions for 15 yards and a touchdown on three targets.

Huddle Up: Powell proved he is more than capable of handling the full-time load when Matt Forte was unavailable. The Jets are likely to have plenty of upheaval on their roster in the offseason. If Powell finds himself competing for the starting tailback job, he could be a nice fantasy sleeper in 2017.

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell rushed for 122 yards on 22 carries against the Buffalo Bills in Week 17. He also caught three passes for 15 yards and one touchdown during the game.

Huddle Up: Powell should have a chance to compete for the starting running back job next season depending on Matt Forte's status with the team. He will has a solid role on offense even if he does not start and can be a middle- to late-round option in leagues.

  • Posted: 1/1/2017 8:57am ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (knee) will play in Week 17's game against the Buffalo Bills.

Huddle Up: Powell only participated in one day of practice on a limited basis during the week and had been listed as questionable on the injury report. He is expected to start and receive the bulk of the carries this afternoon, making him worthy of consideration as a viable RB2 option in most fantasy formats.

  • Posted: 12/30/2016 3:30pm ET

Updating a previous report, New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 30, and is listed as questionable for Week 17.

Huddle Up: Powell appears to be on track to receive most of the work at running back if he is active for the game. He has posted solid numbers this season and can be a solid No. 2 running back this week against the Buffalo Bills.

  • Posted: 12/30/2016 11:21am ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (illness, knee) is listed as questionable for Week 17 against the Buffalo Bills.

Huddle Up: Powell is expected to start despite his ailment, but it is worth wondering how much the Jets will want to push him in a meaningless game. He possesses a great deal of fantasy upside this weekend in a plus-matchup if he is able to handle the full workload. Looking forward to 2017, Powell's strong finish may convince the Jets to use him in a true committee with Matt Forte.

  • Posted: 12/29/2016 11:12am ET

Updating a previous report, New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (illness, knee) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 29, because of an illness.

Huddle Up: Powell may be able to play in Week 17 if he recovers from his illness, so owners should check in his status closer to game time. He could receive most of the work if Matt Forte is ruled out and could be a No. 2 running back in some leagues.

  • Posted: 12/29/2016 9:51am ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (knee) is not participating in practice Thursday, Dec. 29.

Huddle Up: Owners should know more about Powell's status in the next day or two because he may miss the Week 17 game if he does not practice this week. He could most of the work if he plays and Matt Forte is ruled out, so owners could consider him as at least a flex option if he is active.

  • Posted: 12/29/2016 8:21am ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (knee) is out of practice Thursday, Dec. 29.

Huddle Up: Matt Forte (knee) is also sitting out, which could thrust Brandon Wilds or Brandon Burks in position to see action in Week 17. Both would be really speculative flex options against the Buffalo Bills.

  • Posted: 12/28/2016 2:31pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 28.

Huddle Up: It is not known if Powell's injury will keep him out of the Week 17, but owners should know more about his status in a few days. He likely would receive most of the work if he is active and could be a No. 2 running back for owners.

  • Posted: 12/27/2016 10:35am ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (undisclosed) did not practice Tuesday, Dec. 27.

Huddle Up: There doesn't seem to be much panic in New York despite the fact Powell sat out the final drive of the Jets' Week 16 loss to the New England Patriots. It is more than likely a rest day, so there's a good chance Powell will be back on the field Wednesday. With Matt Forte ailing, Powell is set for another heavy workload and should be a very good play in DFS this weekend.

  • Posted: 12/24/2016 1:21pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell rushed for 60 yards on 15 carries against the New England Patriots in Week 16. He also caught two passes for 14 yards during the game.

Huddle Up: Powell was largely held in each in the running game but did receive most of the work at running back. He can be a No. 2 running back or a flex option in Week 17 if he receives another start.

  • Posted: 12/17/2016 8:33pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell finished with 16 carries for 84 yards and added 11 catches for 78 yards in a 34-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins Saturday, Dec. 17.

Huddle Up: Powell was the lone bright spot for the Jets, and if Matt Forte continues to be limited by a knee injury, Powell should be a RB2 against the Bills in Week 16, especially in PPR formats.

  • Posted: 11/13/2016 1:39pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell run four times for 37 yards but added seven receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Huddle Up: That's a fine day in PPR leagues -- the only format in which Powell should be trusted with a lineup spot. New York gets a breather in Week 11.

  • Posted: 10/30/2016 7:10pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell rushed six times for 76 yards and a touchdown in the Week 8 game against the Cleveland Browns, and he added a three-yard reception on three targets.

Huddle Up: Powell has struggled with turf toe, so this was a surprising performance on the ground. Normally Powell is more effective for fantasy owners in deeper PPR leagues.

  • Posted: 10/27/2016 3:11pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (toe) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 27.

Huddle Up: Powell took a backseat to Matt Forte again last week, but Forte could be limited in Week 8. Powell's fantasy ceiling will always be stinted if and as long as Forte plays, but Powell is still a low-end RB2 to high-end RB3 option in PPR leagues.

  • Posted: 10/26/2016 2:58pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (toe) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see if Powell is in any danger of missing the team's Week 8 game. He has received decent playing time this season and could be a flex option in deeper leagues if he plays.

  • Posted: 10/9/2016 1:40pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell caught six passes for 41 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 5. He also rushed for 10 yards on four carries during the game.

Huddle Up: Powell will continue to see playing time as a receiver out of the backfield and could see more playing time if Forte does not improve his play. Powell should be considered a flex option at this point.

  • Posted: 10/4/2016 3:53pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell has caught 12 passes over the last two weeks after catching just three passes over the first two weeks of the season. He has also gained 56 rushing yards compared to just 43 rushing yards in the same time span.

Huddle Up: Matt Forte's touches have certainly decreased of late, perhaps in an effort by the Jets to preserve the veteran running back. Powell proved last season that he can be a force in the passing game. With Eric Decker sidelined, Powell should continue to see plenty of action, particularly in the passing game. He's worth a flex start in PPR formats against a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that has yielded the most receiving yards to running backs (318) so far this year.

  • Posted: 9/24/2016 6:30pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell has five carries and three catches through two games this season, but he said he will be ready to handle a bigger load whenever he is needed.

Huddle Up: Veteran Matt Forte is off to an excellent start, and as long as he remains healthy and productive, Powell is simply a handcuff.
