    Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel could play with QB Brian Hoyer in a two-quarterback system later in the season, according to head coach Mike Pettine. Pettine said a package for Manziel is on the table. Pettine said he didn't anticipate a platoon early in the season. Pettine also made it clear that Hoyer is on a week-to-week trial.

    Huddle Up: Despite Manziel's current shortcomings and issues -- he was just fined $12K by the league on Friday for the upraised middle finger he displayed to the Washington bench on Monday night -- the first-round pick is sure to be see plenty of PT in some form or fashion this season as the team needs to know if he's the QB of the future.

    Cleveland Browns QB Brian Hoyer completed two of his six pass attempts for 16 yards during the team's preseason game Monday, Aug. 18, and QB Johnny Manziel completed seven of his 16 passes for 65 yards and a touchdown. Manziel was also sacked three times, and gave the middle finger to the Washington Redskins' bench.

    Huddle Up: Neither quarterback did themselves any favors in the battle to be the Browns' starter, which means they most likely default back to Hoyer. Johnny Football fans, you'll just have to wait.

    Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel has taken the lead in the team's QB competition, according to a team source.

    Huddle Up: Both Manziel and starter Brian Hoyer had their moments in Saturday night's 13-12 exhibition loss in Detroit, although neither managed to lead the Browns into the end zone. The rook, however, has a decided hype advantage and we'll see if he gets his expected turn to start the team's next game a week from Monday night in Washington.

    Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel appears to have narrowed the gap between him and starting QB Brian Hoyer with his performance in the scrimmage Saturday, Aug. 2. Manziel could start earning some first-team repetitions in practice soon.
