The Newark Star-Ledger reports New York Giants WR Plaxico Burress was due $1 million Wednesday, Dec. 10. Burress was scheduled to receive that money as a deferred payment that was part of the $4.25 million signing bonus on his new contract in September. NFL Players Association spokesman Carl Francis said, "The Giants have decided to forgo payment of his signing bonus. Therefore, we will file a claim in the appropriate forum to enforce his rights to receive and keep the monies entitled to him under his player contract."

The Huddle Take: This is likely just another step as the Giants look to wriggle out of the contract they signed Plax to earlier this season. You'd have to think given his past transgressions that the contract contains some sort of language regarding off-the-field incidents. And, since it's happening in New York, we'll get a front row view of the entire proceedings.

The New York Post reports LB Antonio Pierce will testify before a grand jury regarding the events surrounding Giants WR Plaxico Burress shooting himself in the leg at a Manhattan nightclub. Pierce's testimony would almost ensure an indictment against Burress and possibly relieve Pierce of any charges involving reports he hid Burress' pistol. The date of Pierce's testimony is unknown at this time.

The Huddle Take: If nothing else, this promises to be interesting—and you know the New York media will give us a ringside seat. Plax is already done for the 2008 season, and his tenure with the Giants may be finished as well. Stay tuned.

Updating an ongoing story, the Associated Press reports New York Giants WR Plaxico Burress (hamstring, leg) was examined by Dr. Scott Rodeo, a Giants physican, and told his gunshot wound would sideline him four to six weeks. Burress was placed on the Non-Football Injury list Tuesday, Dec. 2.

The Huddle Take: And by sheer coincidence Burress has been suspended for four games. Funny how that works out.

ESPN reports the New York Giants have suspended WR Plaxico Burress (hamstring, thigh) for four games for conduct detrimental to the team and have placed him on the Non Football Injury list.

The Huddle Take: Since the incident most had been predicting that Burress had played his last game for the Giants. At least for the rest of the 2008 regular season that is now true. Domenik Hixon will continue to fill Burress' shoes in the offense, something he's been doing a good job of lately.

ESPN.com reports New York Giants WR Plaxico Burress (hamstring, leg) arrived at the team's stadium early Tuesday, Dec. 2, one day after he was charged with illegal gun possession. Burress was told by the team to be there Tuesday, Dec. 2, because he is on the active roster and injured.

The Huddle Take: There seems to be no way Burress will see the field again this season, and he's most likely played his last game as a Giant. There's also a good chance he won't be playing anywhere for a pretty long time since the mayor of New York is pressing for Burress to be prosecuted to the maximum degree, which would entail a significant jail sentence.

ESPN.com reports New York Giants WR Plaxico Burress (hamstring, leg) arrived at a police station early Monday, Dec. 1, where he was expected to be charged after accidentally shooting himself in the right thigh at a Manhattan nightclub. Burress plans to plead not guilty to a weapon possession charge during a court appearance Monday, Dec. 1, his lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, said outside the police station.

The Huddle Take: Burress apparently was not seriously injured in the incident, but the legal issues may lead to league and/or team discipline. At present Domenik Hixon and Amani Toomer seem like better bets to help your fantasy squad.

Updating a previous item, John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports New York Giants WR Plaxico Burress (hamstring, leg) suffered an accidental gunshot wound late Friday, Nov. 28, in a club, according to multiple sources. Details of the incident weren't immediately available, but according to a source the wound was not considered life-threatening. The Giants organization was not commenting on the story.

The Huddle Take: The original report on this from Fox Sports has this gunshot wound being self inflicted. Wow. Can Burress ruin his 2008 season any more after THIS? If you haven't already, the talented Dominick Hixon should be picked up in all leagues.

The New York Daily News reports New York Giants WR Plaxico Burress (hamstring) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 28. He has been ruled out of the team's Week 13 game.

The Huddle Take: With Burress already ruled out for Week 13, fantasy owners should expect a nice game from WR Dominick Hixon who has been spectacular in limited action this year. Hixon has tremendous talent and should be poised for some nice numbers down the stretch as the Giants look once again to roll into the playoffs.

The New York Daily News reports New York Giants WR Plaxico Burress (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 27. His status for Week 13 is uncertain.

The Huddle Take: Might as well proceed as if Burress isn't going to play this week. He was a big question mark heading into last week against Arizona, then pulled himself out after only one series. If he's not practicing Friday, then put him on your bench. Don't let yourself get burned two weeks in a row by this guy.

The New York Daily News reports New York Giants WR Plaxico Burress (hamstring) will undergo medical tests Monday, Nov. 24. Burress said he is day-to-day, but his status for Week 13 in unclear.

The Huddle Take: After that joke in the desert, it's hard to imagine anyone putting Burress in their starting lineup unless they're 100 percent certain he'll play. And it's hard to envision the Giants issuing that kind of guarantee this week.
