The Atlanta Falcons are not expected to re-sign free-agent DE John Abraham.
Huddle Up: Although you can never have enough pass rushers and Abraham still available at a reduced price after being unable to hook on anywhere else, the Falcons appear to have closed the door with their recent signing of Osi Umenyiora.
Posted: 3/1/2013 12:59pm et
The Atlanta Falcons cut DE John Abraham and CB Dunta Robinson.
Huddle Up: The Falcons clear more than $9 million in cap space by releasing Abraham and Robinson, but they also create a couple needs on the defensive side of the ball they'll need to address via the draft or with budget free agents.
Posted: 2/5/2013 11:52pm et
The Atlanta Falcons could create $10.4 million in salary cap space this offseason if they release RB Michael Turner and DE John Abraham.
Huddle Up: On the outset, Abraham appears more likely to return out of the 2, but the DE will turn 35 in May, and if he does come back, look for the vet to do so under some sort of restructured deal.
Posted: 1/15/2013 12:34pm et
Atlanta Falcons DE John Abraham re-tweaked his ankle in the team's divisional playoff game. Abraham is expected to return to practice by the end of the week, according to head coach Mike Smith.
Huddle Up: The Falcons will need all hands on deck -- especially their top pass rusher -- with the explosive Colin Kaepernick coming to town Sunday. Abraham may be able to go, but how well he'll be able to get after the speedy Kaepernick is another issue.
Posted: 1/13/2013 7:58pm et
Atlanta Falcons DE John Abraham suffered an ankle injury in Sunday's Divisional Round playoff game and missed the second half of Atlanta's win.
Huddle Up: The Falcons felt the loss of their leading pass rusher as the visiting Seahawks scored all 28 of their points in the second half to nearly pull off a come-from-behind road upset. He'll now have a week to get ready for next Sunday's NFC title game against the 49ers.
