The South Florida SunSentinel reports the Miami Dolphins have placed QB Chad Pennington (shoulder) on Injured Reserve, ending his 2009 season.

The Huddle Take: We already knew it was going to happen, and now it is official. Word is Pennington will undergo his third surgery as a pro...never a good thing. It is quite likely he's done in the NFL, but one never knows.

ESPN's reports Miami Dolphins QB Chad Pennington (shoulder) is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a torn capsule in his throwing shoulder. Pennington plans to seek a second opinion on the injury.

The Huddle Take: Another tough break for Pennington, who has been hurt so often he's won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award twice. When he returns, it'll likely be in another uniform.

The Miami Herald, reports Miami Dolphins QB Chad Pennington (shoulder) had an MRI Monday, Sept. 28, and is awaiting the results. Pennington suffered a dislocated shoulder in Week 3, but the greater concern is whether he tore it. Trainers had to pop Penningtons shoulder back into place immediately after he suffered the injury early in the third quarter of the teams Week 3 game.

The Huddle Take: There's no telling how long Pennington will be out, but you'd have to assume it would be at least a few weeks. Chad Henne will likely take over as the Dolphins' No. 1 QB, but don't be surprised if Miami signs Jeff Garcia should Garcia be released by the Eagles once Donovan McNabb comes back.

CBS Sports reports Miami Dolphins QB Chad Pennington (shoulder) left the team's Week 3 game with a right shoulder injury and is doubtful to return. He was replaced in the game by QB Chad Henne.

The Huddle Take: Backup quarterback Chad Henne came into the game for Pennington but completed only 10/19 passes for 92 yards on the afternoon. It is apparent that if Pennington misses any significant time with the injury, Miami will be forced to bring in Henne as its starter whether he is ready or not. Fantasy owners should temper their expectations in Miami until it is clearer as to Pennington's status. He will be evaluated further on Monday to determine the extent of his injury.

The Miami Herald, reports while all of the talk of the Miami Dolphins quarterbacks has surrounded the drafting of Pat White and how second-year QB Chad Henne is slated to take over as the starter in 2010, it has been overlooked that QB Chad Pennington remains the starter in 2009.

The Huddle Take: Pennington is clearly the No. 1 quarterback in Miami and should certainly demand some respect in fantasy leagues after last seasons showing. With Pat White being added for "Wildcat Formation" plays, Pennington remains a lethal passing threat and leader of the offense. Chad Henne will also be groomed further as the future quarterback of the Dolphins which likely puts Pennington in a short term situation with Miami.

The Miami Herald reports Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano said QB Chad Pennington will be the team's starting quarterback entering the 2009 season.

The Huddle Take: Playoff game aside Pennington was solid for the Dolphins this season. His success not only vaulted Miami from a one-win season into the playoffs, it also buys more time for Chad Henne to develop.

The Associated Press reports Miami Dolphins QB Chad Pennington was 25-for-38 for 252 yards with a touchdown and four interceptions during the teams Wild Card game Sunday, Jan. 4.

The Huddle Take: Chad had one of his worst outings in quite some time today, but any quarterback facing the Ravens D right now is going to find the going tough. The Ravens are on a mission and have all the tools to get it done, but they're going to ride their defense to any success they have. Chad still is a mid tier option regardless of how much he improved in Miami this year.

The Associated Press reports Miami Dolphins QB Chad Pennington went 22-for-30 for 200 yards and two touchdowns in the team's Week 17 game.

The Huddle Take: Pennington continues to play with conviction this season and should likely be considered in the mix for the league MVP award after leading the Miami Dolphins to an 11-5 season just one year after going 1-15. He should be a nice quarterback option for fantasy teams in 2009 especially if the Dolphins continue to build a championship caliber team under Bill Parcells.

The Associated Press reports Miami Dolphins QB Chad Pennington was 12-for-19 for 156 yards with two touchdown passes during the team's Week 15 game.

The Huddle Take: Pennington just continues to win and lead the Dolphins in their chase for the AFC East crown. With Miami now 9-5 and in a tie with the N.Y. Jets and New England Patriots, Pennington provides Miami with veteran leadership it has been missing for the last few seasons. If the Dolphins continue to protect Pennington there is no telling how far this team could go in the playoffs. Fantasy owners should expect another good game from Pennington in Week 16 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

MiamiDolphins.com reports Miami Dolphins QB Chad Pennington went 24-for-41 for a career-high 341 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in the team's Week 12 game.

The Huddle Take: Pennington was on his game in Week 12 against the Patriots despite losing 41-28. The former Jet quarterback has been on his game this season and has provided the Dolphins with the veteran leadership that they have needed to rebound from a dismal 1-15 season from a year ago.
