Joe Reedy, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Bengals WR Laveranues Coles was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 19, and his status for Week 11 is uncertain.
The Huddle Take: Coles is listed as having a head injury, and NFL teams have shown they're taking more precautions with those types of injuries so don't take that "uncertain" status with just a grain of salt. The match-up with a solid Oakland secondary doesn't help Coles' fantasy prospects, either.

CBSSports.com reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Laveranues Coles (undisclosed) was helped off the field by the team's training staff Friday, Aug. 14. Coles was able to walk off under his own power.
The Huddle Take: Good news for the Bengals as Coles was able to move around under his own power. Given the departure of T.J. Houshmandzadeh to the Seahawks in the offseson, Coles could make a nice No. 3 wideout for fantasy squads with decent upside if he develops good repor with Palmer in the passing game.

The Star-Ledger, reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Laveranues Coles is guaranteed $9.75 million in the 2009 season as part of his four-year, $27.5 million deal with the team. Coles received a $3 million signing bonus a $4.7 million roster bonus, a $1.9 million base salary and a $100,000 workout bonus all in 2009. He will earn base salaries of $4.6 million in 2010, $6.4 million in 2011 and $6.4 million in 2012. He gets a $100,000 workout bonus each year as well.
The Huddle Take: The Bengals have reeled in a solid replacment for T.J. Houshmandzadeh who has taken a new contract and joined the Seattle Seahawks in the offseason. Coles should make a nice complement to Chad Johnson in Cincinnati and will likely be a big part of the offense if he can shake the injury bug and remain on the field.

The NFL Network, reports the Cincinnati Bengals have signed unrestricted free-agent WR Laveranues Coles (Jets) to a four-year deal worth $28 million.
The Huddle Take: Coles will shore up a receiving corp that has seen T.J. Houshmandzadeh leave for Seattle, Chad Johnson continue to be a distraction to the team and Chris Henry's playing status continually up in the air. Fantasy owners should upgrade Laveraneus Coles for 2009 especially if Carson Palmer returns healthy to lead the offense.

Bengals.com reports free-agent WR Laveranues Coles is scheduled to visit the Cincinnati Bengals Tuesday, March 3.
The Huddle Take: The Bengals are looking to replace T.J. Houshmandzadeh in their receiver rotation.

Jets Confidential reports New York Jets WR Laveranues Coles (leg) was downgraded from probable to questionable Friday, Dec. 5, and he finished with just one catch in Week 14. His leg is clearly an issue.
The Huddle Take: Coles says the issue is Favre, the team says the issue is Coles' leg. Either way he has stunk on ice the past couple of weeks, so bad that he'd actually probably put up more points off the field than on it in most cases. Don't expect much more out of Coles this year.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports New York Jets WR Laveranues Coles sounded almost bitter during a conference call about having QB Brett Favre in New York. 'We're in a quarterback-driven offense where he pretty much has control of everything, where before the offense was pretty much driven through me. ... I just kind of become a role player instead of a guy that teams had to prepare for,' Coles said regarding changes in the offense. Coles also said that 'there is no level of importance' when they do throw the ball, 'where at one point it used to be I was the guy.' Finally, he said Favre's arm is not even as strong as the Jugs machine and that 'most of the guys who deserve the credit' for their turnaround aren't getting it.
The Huddle Take: Ah...the "I" in TEAM. Gotta love it when you see this stuff. Another ego at the wide receiver position. This could help explain the overall lousy season Coles has been having. Will it amount to a good week ala Terrell Owens' rant a couple weeks back? Somehow we think it unlikely, but one never knows. As for Favre's arm strength, conventional wisdom would say that Coles is full of it.

Jets Confidential reports New York Jets WR Laveranues Coles (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 21. He is listed as probable for the team's Week 12 game and is expected to play.
The Huddle Take: So what else is new since Coles is on the injury report every week, plays on Sunday and gets fantasy owners very little fantasy production. With quarterback Brett Favre obviously not looking in Coles direction on a consistent basis the Jets wideout should be considered no better than a No. 3 receiver for the present time.
