Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen's return will allow the offense be more "creative" this upcoming season, according to tight ends coach Alfredo Roberts. 'It makes us a better football team,' Roberts said. 'Getting him back is like getting a brand new player. (Allen) gives you a chance to do some other things. His skillset allows us to protect it up, or throw it or run it when we see the advantage. He gives us an advantage because he can do some things in the backfield, do some things in-line where [TE Coby Fleener] we feel like has blossomed as an outside guy. It gives you a little more of a chance to be creative.'

Huddle Up: Allen was Andrew Luck's fourth-most productive target as a rookie in 2012, catching 45 passes for 521 yards and 3 TDs, and he returns as a sleeper TE, while dropping Fleener down a fantasy peg or two.

The Indianapolis Colts on Thursday, Sept. 19 placed TE Dwayne Allen on the season-ending injured-reserve list. Allen suffered a hip injury in Week 1.

Huddle Up: This is a big loss for the Colts, who were planning on using multiple-TE sets in Pep Hamilton's new offense. However, this does bump up the value of TE Coby Fleener, who had 4 catches for 69 yards and a TD last week in Allen's absence.

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (hip) has been downgraded from questionable to doubtful for Week 2.

Huddle Up: Allen will likely sit in Week 2, giving more fantasy value to both Coby Fleener and T.Y. Hilton in his absence. After a quiet outing in the opener, Hilton could be in line for a big day against Miami on Sunday.

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (hip) said he has seen improvement in his hip injury, and is hopeful he can play in the team's Week 2 game. He did not practice on Thursday, Sept. 12.

Huddle Up: Allen saw only 2 Week 1 targets, but somewhat salvaged his day by turning his only catch into a 20-yard scoring reception. See how he progresses over the next few days before making a final call on your lineup.

Indianapolis Colts TEs Dwayne Allen (foot) and Coby Fleener (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 6, and are listed as probable for Week 1.

Huddle Up: This is welcome news for Andrew Luck owners, but with if both TEs play as expected, they'll only be cannibalizing from each other, diminishing their individual values.

Indianapolis Colts TEs Dwayne Allen (foot) and Coby Fleener (knee) participated in practice Monday, Sept. 2.

Huddle Up: Fleener still remains a lot more likely to play than Allen, but see how the rest of the week goes.

Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said TE Dwayne Allen (foot) is expected to take part in some monitored reps during practice this week.

Huddle Up: With Coby Fleener struggling, the Colts need Allen back to stabilize the position.

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen is out of the walking boot and catching passes from Colts staff members Friday, Aug. 16.

Huddle Up: Good news in Indy, and with Coby Fleener back at practice following a concussion it looks as if the Colts will have both of their tight ends ready to go for the start of the season.

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (foot) was on crutches and a walking boot after the preseason game Sunday, Aug. 11, against the Buffalo Bills due to a foot injury. However, head coach Chuck Pagano said he expects to have Allen back for the regular season opener Sept. 8 against the Oakland Raiders.

Huddle Up: Unspecified foot injuries rarely are good news, and Allen suffered his in practice Tuesday, Aug. 6. In the meantime, the fantasy value of fellow 2nd-year TE Coby Fleener will continue to climb, but don't let Allen slip totally off your radar.

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (foot) received a second opinion on his injured foot, but the team does not know the results of the exam at this point.

Huddle Up: Allen has missed 2 days of practice with the undetermined foot injury and has been ruled out of Sunday's preseason opener against the Bills. Indy has some dual-TE formations in its plans, but playing without Allen (45-521-3 in 2012) for any period of time could force the Colts to adjust.
