Dallas Cowboys TE Gavin Escobar has often lined up out wide during training camp, and offensive play-caller Scott Linehan is experimenting with different ways to get him involved in the offense.
Huddle Up: Escobar is the heir apparent to Jason Witten, but Witten ain't done yet so Linehan is getting creative in finding ways to get Escobar on the field. Don't be surprised if Escobar carves out a red zone role as a mismatch problem while he bides his time behind Witten.

Dallas Cowboys TE Gavin Escobar has impressed tight ends coach Mike Pope. Pope praised Escobar's tremendous hands and ability to contort his body to make acrobatic catches. Escobar's fearlessness down the field has also caught Pope's attention.
Huddle Up: Escobar, a 2013 2nd-round pick, caught only 9 passes for 134 yards and 2 TDs as a rookie but those numbers could easily quadruple with starter Jason Witten not getting any younger.
