Huddle Up: Starter Geno Smith (4-6-33 and 1-10 rushing) also was solid, but the veteran Vick served a reminder that the heat remains on.

Huddle Up: Sadly, Pioneer Vick caught a case of dysentery somewhere along the way and didn't complete the Oregon trail. Wait, what? Right now the pioneer is backing up Geno Smith in New York, but if he'd like to lay claim to being the first... well, then, congratulations.

Huddle Up: From most indications, it sounds like Smith is in line to get the first crack at starting, barring a preseason injury or performance disaster. It's N.Y., though, so you'll have no choice but to stay tuned.

Huddle Up: Meanwhile, what might be better for the Jets in 2014 is having Vick start and having Smith watching and learning. Expect an open competition in camp.
Posted: 4/19/2014 10:37pm ET
Huddle Up: The Jets need to decide early on if they're developing Geno or trying to milk one more quality season out of Vick. A battle that stretches into training camp won't allow either QB to get the necessary reps with the first team.
Posted: 3/21/2014 8:32pm ET
Huddle Up: Vick will compete with Geno Smith for the starting gig in New York. They might also have a pay-per-view arm wrestling match for Smith's jersey number "7".
Posted: 3/19/2014 12:36pm ET
Huddle Up: Vick would be the likely starter ahead of Geno Smith, giving him at least a modicum of fantasy value if that's where he lands heading into 2014.
Posted: 3/6/2014 10:47pm ET
Huddle Up: Add the Jags to the possible-Vick-suitor list which already includes the Jets, Raiders, Vikings.
Posted: 3/6/2014 1:34pm ET
Huddle Up: Peterson insists the Vikes would be a playoff team with Vick, but then again, they were a playoff team in 2012 with QB Christian Ponder starting 16 games. The Jets and Raiders also are reportedly very interested in Vick, so stay tuned.
Posted: 2/25/2014 2:15pm ET
Huddle Up: The Jets are exploring a number of QB options, including retaining Mark Sanchez, and it sounds as if having the veteran Vick come in and compete with and/or mentor second-year Geno Smith remains a possibility.
Posted: 2/2/2014 4:35pm ET
Huddle Up: The Bucs are also interested, according to early reports, but Vick would be competing for the starting job with 2nd-year QBs Geno Smith and Mike Glennon in both locales.

Huddle Up: The more Foles keeps playing well and winning, the less likely Vick will come back to start a game if everyone is healthy.
Posted: 11/12/2013 1:28pm ET
Huddle Up: The Eagles haven't said as much but the more success Nick Foles has -- and he's had quite a bit with a 16-0 TD-to-interception ratio so far -- the harder it is to imagine Philly going back to Vick when healthy.
Posted: 11/11/2013 12:31am ET
Huddle Up: The way Nick Foles is playing, it wouldn't be surprising to see Michael Vick's hamstring to be balky for a little while longer.
Posted: 11/8/2013 1:49pm ET
Huddle Up: Vick will miss his 4th game in the team's last 5 outings, giving Nick Foles a chance to follow up on his record 7-TD performance.

Posted: 10/30/2013 4:02pm ET
Huddle Up: It'll be interesting to see what the Eagles do once he gets healthy. If Nick Foles is playing well, Vick is probably not going to get a chance to start again.
Posted: 10/30/2013 12:56pm ET
Huddle Up: This is great news for the Eagles and guys like LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson. Foles should be better than Matt Barkley, even if he was terrible his last outing.
Posted: 10/30/2013 12:12pm ET
Huddle Up: At this juncture it would be almost impossible to trust Vick with a fantasy start, as he's left multiple games with the same injury. Nick Foles is expected to get the start for Philly this week; after that, things are up in the air.
Posted: 10/28/2013 2:55pm ET
Huddle Up: This could be the end of the road for Michael Vick as a viable fantasy starter.
Posted: 10/27/2013 9:01pm ET
Huddle Up: So Vick's return to prominence was a pipe dream. It looks like this might be it for Vick if Nick Foles can come back healthy soon. You can't drop him quite yet, but he might not be worth a roster spot soon.
Posted: 10/25/2013 1:57pm ET
Huddle Up: With Nick Foles already ruled out with a concussion, there was never much doubt that Vick would return Sunday, but there is significant doubt on how effective he'll be, particularly as a runner and scrambler. That said, you may have no other fantasy choice than Vick with 6 teams on bye, but temper your expectations.
Posted: 10/23/2013 2:55pm ET
Huddle Up: Ground control to Major Tom. All systems are a go. Ready for liftoff.
Posted: 10/22/2013 12:27pm ET
Huddle Up: Vick has had a couple weeks off to rest and rehab his hammy. And after last week's debacle, the Eagles may have been tempted to rush him back anyway.
Posted: 10/21/2013 12:37am ET
Huddle Up: It looks like Michael Vick might get another crack at starting after this week.
Posted: 10/15/2013 11:26pm ET
Huddle Up: In the meantime, if Nick Foles keeps plays like he has -- 542 passing yards, 6 TDs, 1 rushing TD -- over the past 6-7 quarters or so, Vick may find it hard to get his starting job back.
Posted: 10/14/2013 2:04pm ET
Huddle Up: Again, you should be making alternative plans at quarterback if you are relying on Vick.
Posted: 10/14/2013 12:48am ET
Huddle Up: This could be trouble for Michael Vick, whose job isn't guaranteed at this point. If you are a Vick owner, it might be best to find a contingency plan for the rest of the season if you don't already have one.
Posted: 10/12/2013 9:29pm ET
Huddle Up: Nick Foles will start Sunday against Tampa Bay and beyond should Vick be out for an extended period of time. Foles looked good against the Giants' dreadful defense but he'll face a much tougher test this week versus Tampa Bay.
Posted: 10/11/2013 8:59pm ET
Huddle Up: Nick Foles is set to make his 7th career start and first of the season against the winless Bucs after mopping up nicely for the injured Vick in Week 5.
Posted: 10/9/2013 1:32pm ET
Huddle Up: This is the second consecutive day of practice for Vick. It will be interesting to see if he can play, but don't put money on it. It's safer to stick with an alternative than roll with Vick against the Buccaneers this week.
Posted: 10/8/2013 7:15pm ET
Huddle Up: Despite his early-week progress, still look for Nick Foles to get the starting call Sunday in Tampa and possibly a game or 2 after that as well.
Posted: 10/8/2013 12:19pm ET
Huddle Up: Vick's hamstring injury is expected to sideline him for a week or two, with Nick Foles taking over the reins in Philly.
Posted: 10/7/2013 2:29pm ET
Huddle Up: Hopefully it's not serious, but he will be out at least this week. Keep an eye out to see what grade strain he has.
Posted: 10/7/2013 10:50am ET
Huddle Up: Nick Foles came on in relief of Vick last week and would be in line to start for Philly in Week 6 if Vick is indeed out of the lineup.
Posted: 10/7/2013 10:25am ET
Huddle Up: What Kelly's comments fail to address is whether or not Vick will be able to play this week against the Buccaneers. Looks like Vick's fantasy owners will need to follow the injury reports all week to see if Vick's hamstring will allow him to go.
Posted: 10/6/2013 4:29pm ET
Huddle Up: He pulled up with the injury after a nice run. Too bad as he was well on his way to a big fantasy game. At least he scored a dozen or so points for you.
Posted: 9/20/2013 10:00am ET
Huddle Up: Vick will have a few extra days to rest and recover before the Eagles get back at it in Week 4.
Posted: 9/12/2013 9:58am ET
Huddle Up: One of the primary concerns with Vick is how he'll hold up this year; he's struggled to play a full 16 games in the past, and that was before taking on the additional rigors of Chip Kelly's high-octane offense. For now at least it appears to be nothing more than everyday bumps and bruises, and Vick is good to go for Philly's Week 2 tilt.
Posted: 9/10/2013 12:23am ET
Huddle Up: The Eagles ran 77 plays -- 53 in the opening half -- and Vick looked very comfortable in running the fast-break attack. He also mixed in 54 rushing yards and a TD on 9 carries and looks as if he'll outplay a number of QBs drafted ahead of him if he can avoid the injuries that have cut short most of his NFL seasons.
