New York Jets QB Michael Vick went 3-for-6 for 17 yards, added 19 yards on thee rushes and looked comfortable in the offense in the team's first preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts Thursday, Aug. 7. He led the first-team offense on an 80-yard scoring drive in his only work with the starters.

Huddle Up: Starter Geno Smith (4-6-33 and 1-10 rushing) also was solid, but the veteran Vick served a reminder that the heat remains on.

  • Posted: 6/21/2014 12:51am ET

New York Jets QB Michael Vick believes he was the pioneer of the move to fast, young quarterbacks in the NFL. 'I was the guy who started it all,' Vick said. 'I revolutionized the game. I changed the way it was played in the NFL.' Vick is currently the all-time leading rusher at the QB position with 5,857 yards.

Huddle Up: Sadly, Pioneer Vick caught a case of dysentery somewhere along the way and didn't complete the Oregon trail. Wait, what? Right now the pioneer is backing up Geno Smith in New York, but if he'd like to lay claim to being the first... well, then, congratulations.

  • Posted: 5/29/2014 11:54pm ET

New York Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said there is 'competition' between QBs Geno Smith and Michael Vick. 'It may not be quite like the competition we had last year, where everything was 50-50,' said Mornhinweg, alluding to the open competition between Smith and QB Mark Sanchez. 'Mike has all that experienced banked. We're trying to continue the progress with Geno, and then have Mike ready to go. It's just that simple, and Mike knows exactly what expectations and roles he has.' Mornhinweg said earlier this offseason that Smith will receive more practice repetitions than Vick.

Huddle Up: From most indications, it sounds like Smith is in line to get the first crack at starting, barring a preseason injury or performance disaster. It's N.Y., though, so you'll have no choice but to stay tuned.

New York Jets QB Michael Vick said QB Geno Smith will be the team's starting quarterback this upcoming season. 'Ultimately our goal is to try to help Geno become the best quarterback that he can be. Myself and [QB Matt Simms] are all trying to put him in a position where he can get better from year one to year two,' Vick said.

Huddle Up: Meanwhile, what might be better for the Jets in 2014 is having Vick start and having Smith watching and learning. Expect an open competition in camp.

  • Posted: 4/19/2014 10:37pm ET

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson said the team told him QBs Michael Vick and Geno Smith will compete for the starting quarterback job during offseason workouts and training camp.

Huddle Up: The Jets need to decide early on if they're developing Geno or trying to milk one more quality season out of Vick. A battle that stretches into training camp won't allow either QB to get the necessary reps with the first team.

  • Posted: 3/21/2014 8:32pm ET

The New York Jets signed QB Michael Vick to a one-year, $5 million deal Friday, March 21, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Vick will compete with Geno Smith for the starting gig in New York. They might also have a pay-per-view arm wrestling match for Smith's jersey number "7".

  • Posted: 3/19/2014 12:36pm ET

The New York Jets will visit with free-agent QB Michael Vick (Eagles) this weekend.

Huddle Up: Vick would be the likely starter ahead of Geno Smith, giving him at least a modicum of fantasy value if that's where he lands heading into 2014.

  • Posted: 3/6/2014 10:47pm ET

The Jacksonville Jaguars could be interested in signing Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent QB Michael Vick.

Huddle Up: Add the Jags to the possible-Vick-suitor list which already includes the Jets, Raiders, Vikings.

  • Posted: 3/6/2014 1:34pm ET

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is lobbying for the team to sign free-agent QB Michael Vick (Eagles).

Huddle Up: Peterson insists the Vikes would be a playoff team with Vick, but then again, they were a playoff team in 2012 with QB Christian Ponder starting 16 games. The Jets and Raiders also are reportedly very interested in Vick, so stay tuned.

  • Posted: 2/25/2014 2:15pm ET

Based on conversations with sources at the NFL Scouting Combine, there may be interest from the New York Jets to sign free-agent QB Michael Vick (Eagles).

Huddle Up: The Jets are exploring a number of QB options, including retaining Mark Sanchez, and it sounds as if having the veteran Vick come in and compete with and/or mentor second-year Geno Smith remains a possibility.

  • Posted: 2/2/2014 4:35pm ET

The New York Jets are likely to have interest in Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent QB Michael Vick.

Huddle Up: The Bucs are also interested, according to early reports, but Vick would be competing for the starting job with 2nd-year QBs Geno Smith and Mike Glennon in both locales.

Philadelphia Eagles QB threw for 298 yards in Week 11 against the Washington Redskins, and he added a career-high 47 yards and one rushing score. He has started just 11 games in his career and has already exceeded a passer rating of 100 five times, each in the last six games. He has a 152.8 passer rating during his team's three-game winning streak. Since 1960, only former Dallas Cowboys QB Craig Morton had a better streak during a three-game span in 1969. Foles also has thrown 199 passes without an interception, and that is the second-longest streak in franchise history behind QB Michael Vick (224).

Huddle Up: The more Foles keeps playing well and winning, the less likely Vick will come back to start a game if everyone is healthy.

  • Posted: 11/12/2013 1:28pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick (hamstring) is participating in practice Tuesday, Nov. 12. Vick is expected to be limited in practice.

Huddle Up: The Eagles haven't said as much but the more success Nick Foles has -- and he's had quite a bit with a 16-0 TD-to-interception ratio so far -- the harder it is to imagine Philly going back to Vick when healthy.

  • Posted: 11/11/2013 12:31am ET

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick (hamstring) is expected to miss another week or two because of his hamstring injury.

Huddle Up: The way Nick Foles is playing, it wouldn't be surprising to see Michael Vick's hamstring to be balky for a little while longer.

  • Posted: 11/8/2013 1:49pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick (hamstring) and LB Jake Knott (hamstring) are doubtful for Week 10. CB Bradley Fletcher (pectoral) is questionable. CB Rashad Carmichael (groin), SS Patrick Chung (shoulder), WR Damaris Johnson (ankle), OT Jason Peters (pectoral, shoulder), RB Chris Polk (shoulder, knee), DE Cedric Thornton (knee) and OG Julian Vandervelde (knee) are probable. All players practiced in full Friday, Nov. 8.

Huddle Up: Vick will miss his 4th game in the team's last 5 outings, giving Nick Foles a chance to follow up on his record 7-TD performance.

  • Posted: 11/4/2013 3:51pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick (hamstring) has been ruled out of the team's Week 10 game.

  • Posted: 10/30/2013 4:02pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick's (hamstring) second hamstring injury is not as bad as the first injury he suffered earlier in the season. Vick will likely be held out until he is completely healthy.

Huddle Up: It'll be interesting to see what the Eagles do once he gets healthy. If Nick Foles is playing well, Vick is probably not going to get a chance to start again.

  • Posted: 10/30/2013 12:56pm ET

The Philadelphia Eagles have named QB Nick Foles (concussion) as the starting quarterback in Week 9 against the Oakland Raiders. QB Matt Barkley will serve as the backup. QB Michael Vick (hamstring) will not practice this week and won't be available Sunday, Nov. 3. 'One of the good things about practicing on Tuesday is you can get your eyes on people who have been out. Nick did a really good job and Nick will be our starting quarterback this week,' head coach Chip Kelly said. Kelly also said he'll make a determination on the quarterback position on a weekly basis moving forward.

Huddle Up: This is great news for the Eagles and guys like LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson. Foles should be better than Matt Barkley, even if he was terrible his last outing.

  • Posted: 10/30/2013 12:12pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick (hamstring) had an MRI that revealed no new damage to his strained hamstring. He's out for Week 9.

Huddle Up: At this juncture it would be almost impossible to trust Vick with a fantasy start, as he's left multiple games with the same injury. Nick Foles is expected to get the start for Philly this week; after that, things are up in the air.

  • Posted: 10/28/2013 2:55pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly said he doesn't expect QB Michael Vick (hamstring) to start in Week 9 after aggravating his hamstring injury in Week 8. The team will need to see where QB Nick Foles (concussion) is at before deciding if he'll start over QB Matt Barkley.

Huddle Up: This could be the end of the road for Michael Vick as a viable fantasy starter.

  • Posted: 10/27/2013 9:01pm ET

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick (hamstring) said Sunday, Oct. 27, that he felt something in his left hamstring 'pop' in the first half of the Week 8 game against the New York Giants, which is why he left early and did not return. 'I felt the same feeling that I had the first time,' Vick said. 'I don't think it's as bad, but it did pop again. I've never had a hamstring injury this bad.' Vick will have an MRI Monday, Oct. 28.

Huddle Up: So Vick's return to prominence was a pipe dream. It looks like this might be it for Vick if Nick Foles can come back healthy soon. You can't drop him quite yet, but he might not be worth a roster spot soon.

  • Posted: 10/25/2013 1:57pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 25, and is probable for Week 8.

Huddle Up: With Nick Foles already ruled out with a concussion, there was never much doubt that Vick would return Sunday, but there is significant doubt on how effective he'll be, particularly as a runner and scrambler. That said, you may have no other fantasy choice than Vick with 6 teams on bye, but temper your expectations.

  • Posted: 10/23/2013 2:55pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick (hamstring) practiced in full Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Huddle Up: Ground control to Major Tom. All systems are a go. Ready for liftoff.
