The San Diego Union-Tribune, reports San Diego Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson said he will not be back with Chargers next season but has accepted the result. He said he does not know when he will be released but may have his agent call the team to speed up the process.
The Huddle Take: Obviously there has been some trouble between L.T. and the team's relationship for a while and in light of these comments it would not be a surprise to see him in another uniform at some point. Tomlinson is still tremendously talented and could be a huge acquistion for a team in need of solid running back help if indeed San Diego parts ways with him.

The National Football Post, reports San Diego Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson has no intentions of playing for less money if he returns to the team next season. When asked if he would return, Tomlinson said: "I'm not really sure. I can see a lot of things happening. I just kind of leave it open. I spent a lot of years here and enjoy football a lot and enjoy being around the guys in the locker room."
The Huddle Take: Tomlinson's status with the Chargers is likely up in the air for next season as the team evaluates its running back situation prior to the draft. With Tomlinson not as dominant as he once was, San Diego has backups Darren Sproles and Michael Bennett as its remaining runners. Fantasy owners should look for San Diego to add another running back early in the draft in case they elect to part ways with Tomlinson in the offseason.

NFL.com, reports San Diego Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson said during a radio interview that he was not happy with his role this season and believes the Chargers relied more on the passing game than the running game like they have done in previous years. 'I wasn't happy. No one is going to be happy with the least amount of touches in my career. I don't know any running back that would be happy with that. Absolutely I wasn't happy with not touching the ball as much as I thought I would,' Tomlinson said.
The Huddle Take: Despite the fact that Tomlinson did not get as many carries this year, the Chargers pa ssing game has become a more explosive element in the offense. San Diego now has a more balanced attack and does not have to rely solely on Tomlinson and the running game to carry the load. Expect more of the same in 2010 especially with Tomlinson battling injury issues the last few seasons.
Posted: 1/18/2010 12:28pm et
Tim Sullivan, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson sounded like a player who realized his time with the team may soon be coming to an end following the Chargers' playoff loss Sunday, Jan. 17. "I've heard all the speculation," Tomlinson said. "But I'll tell you what: I've had a heck of a time here and if it is (the end), I've enjoyed the ride."
The Huddle Take: LT's career is definitely on the downslope, and the Chargers have become Philip Rivers' team. If Tomlinson does return, it will likely be in a role that's even more limited than this year—though it would leave San Diego without a true feature back, as Darren Sproles has demonstrated his inability to fill that role.
Posted: 1/15/2010 5:19pm et
TheRedZone.com reports San Diego Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson said he is not thinking about retiring after the season, and believes his career is far from over, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune's Kevin Acee. Tomlinson is due $5 million in 2010 and will be 31.
The Huddle Take: It wouldn't be surprising if the Chargers opted to go a different direction after the season, though it's not as if they have a successor in place. Tomlinson clearly lost a step last season and didn't regain it in 2009, so San Diego will have a decision to make as to how valuable he is to their future. A reworking of LT's deal wouldn't be at all surprising.

The Associated Press reports San Diego Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson had 21 carries for 50 yards with a touchdown Week 14. He also caught a nine-yard pass in the game. The touchdown was Tomlinson's 10th this season, extending his NFL record to nine straight seasons with 10 touchdowns.
The Huddle Take: Tomlinson continues to carry the load for the San Diego rushing attack despite his numbers being less than what fantasy owners have been accustomed to in the past. He should continue to get opportunities for the next couple of weeks but with the Chargers close to locking up their division it would not be a surprise if the team rests him for the last week of the season.
Posted: 11/30/2009 1:06pm et
Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson leads the NFL with 26 goal-line touches. Tomlinson has seven touchdowns at the goal line, which is also a league high.
The Huddle Take: Tomlinson isn't the same running back he was a couple of seasons ago, but he's also not the Fantasy liability he was earlier this season. L.T. once again looks like a safe play, especially this week as the Chargers visit Cleveland.
Posted: 11/29/2009 11:50pm et
The Associated Press reports San Diego Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 39 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries in Week 12. Tomlinson moved up to 10th place on the NFL all-time rushing list with 12,257 yards, passing free-agent RB Edgerrin James' (Seahawks) for the spot.
The Huddle Take: Tomlinson continues to move up the all-time rushing list and the Chargers keep on winning. Expect more of the same from the former NFL MVP as he puts up decent numbers for fantasy owners but is far from the scoring machine he has been in past seasons.
Posted: 11/12/2009 11:39pm et
San Diego Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson (hip) practiced in full Thursday, Nov. 12, and he will play Week 10.
The Huddle Take: Tomlinson has looked good in practice and appears to be ready for action in Week 10. The Chargers will likely continue to utilize both Tomlinson and Sproles in tandem to give them some versatility in the running game with a combination of power and speed. Tomlinson is far from the runner he has been in the past but continues to provide fantasy owners with decent point totals as a No. 2 running back.
Posted: 11/11/2009 10:30am et
Kevin Acee, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson might be closing out his final season with the Chargers.
The Huddle Take: As his fantasy owners well know, LT is on pace for career lows across the board and is averaging just 3.2 yards per carry. It's pretty clear the end is near, and a combination of the Chargers' staunch refusal to give Darren Sproles carries and Sproles' meager production when given carries (3.5 yards per tote) strongly suggests that San Diego will be in the market for a new runner this offseason.
