The Associated Press reports New Orleans Saints RB Deuce McAllister rejoined the team Saturday, Dec. 6, after his four-game suspension was blocked by a federal judge. He said he is hopeful of playing during Week 14 after missing practice Wednesday through Friday.
The Huddle Take: For what it is worth, Deuce may play. The production he's given overall this year has been minimal, and with Bush back and Thomas filling in nicely, don't expect much from The Duece.

ESPN.com reports New Orleans Saints RB Deuce McAllister has been suspended for four games for violating the NFL's anti-doping policy. He is eligible to return to the team for the postseason if they qualify.
The Huddle Take: Well, we knew this was coming and now it's here. Doesn't seem very fair that McAllister is now sidelined for diet pills and Matt "that's not my cocaine" Jones plays on. But that's the NFL for ya. While Deuce has scored four times in the past five weeks, his touches have been limited - getting only six per game over the past month. With Reggie Bush returning to action, look for him and Pierre Thomas to handle the workload in the backfield now.

The Biloxi Sun-Herald reports the New Orleans Saints RB Deuce McAllister's role in the offense will continue to dwindle. McAllister, as reported, set the team's franchise touchdown record during a Week 12 win over the Green Bay Packers.
The Huddle Take: McAllister's days in The Big Easy are pretty much done. The team was ready to part ways before the season started but didn't, however it is likely they will after the season. Deuce will always be known for his enormous potential that was sapped by too many injuries. Feel free to drop him from your rosters.

The Associated Press reports David Cornwell, the lawyer for New Orleans Saints RB Deuce McAllister and defensive linemen Will Smith and Charles Grant, says none of the three took steroids. Cornwell said the doctor who administers the steroid program testified that he didn't inform players the substance they were taking contained bumetanide.
The Huddle Take: The ignorance defense generally doesn't work, but in this case there are enough ignorant players that there's a chance those four-game suspensions might not hold up, or at least be reduced. The commissioner has met with many of the involved players this week, so perhaps resolution is forthcoming.

ESPN.com reports New Orleans RB Deuce McAllister has reportedly tested positive under the NFL's steroid policy as a result of taking water pills to lose weight, according to a report from Josina Anderson of FOX 31 in Denver.
The Huddle Take: How bad can things get for New Orleans as RB Deuce McAllister is also rumored to be in line for NFL suspension due to a possible violation of the league's steriod policy. With Reggie Bush currently out with a knee injury and McAllister facing a possible NFL suspension fantasy owners should pickup RB Pierre Thomas who is next in line to see the majority of the carries in New Orleans. The Saints have one of the best schedules after their bye in week 10 as they face several opposing defenses that are weaker against the run.

FOXSports.com reports there has been a 'rash of positive tests under the steroid policy as a result of players taking water pills to lose weight,' according to FOX 31 Denver, citing a highly-placed NFL source. New Orleans Saints RB Deuce McAllister and DL Will Smith were reportedly among the positive tests. McAllister and Smith are in a group of players that have tested positive for Bumetanide, a diuretic frequently used for weight loss, but also for masking the use of steroids or other drugs. All of the players who tested positive are subject to suspension, though they can appeal. Under the league's steroid policy, a first positive test results in a four-game suspension.
The Huddle Take: Wow. If this is true, and McAllister is suspended, the Saint offense will take another huge hit on the heels of Reggie Bush's knee injury. As of now it appears McAllister will be able to play this week. How much more he plays will be up to the commissioner. If you're relying on McAllister, start making plans immediately to replace him should the need arise.

The Associated Press reports New Orleans Saints RB Deuce McAllister rushed for 73 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries in the team's Week 4 game.
The Huddle Take: New Orleans got veteran running back Deuce McAllister back and he promptly carried the ball 20 times and scored one touchdown in the Saints victory over the 49ers. He is a solid No. 3 running back but the main question will be if he can hold up to this type of pounding week in and week out.
Posted: 9/22/2008 8:28pm et
The Biloxi Sun-Herald reports New Orleans Saints RB Deuce McAllister was never in the team's game plan for Week 3, according to head coach Sean Payton.
The Huddle Take: The mystery that is the Deuce McAllister situation continues. Bottom line, no fantasy value unless Bush gets hurt, the two or three backups get hurt, or he gets traded. That's about it in a nutshell.
Posted: 9/17/2008 9:33pm et
The Biloxi Sun-Herald reports New Orleans Saints RB Deuce McAllister (knee) practiced Wednesday, Sept. 17, and he should receive more repetitions Week 3.
The Huddle Take: McAllister is still struggling to return to action on a regular basis with the Saints due to recovery from a season-ending knee injury last year. As long as he is limited or fails to practice with consistency with the team don't expect Deuce to get many carries for New Orleans. In the meantime, RB Pierre Thomas has apparently taken over the goal line duties for the Saints and could make a nice No. 3 or No. 4 running back for fantasy squads needing depth at the RB position.
Posted: 9/5/2008 8:39pm et
New Orleans Saints RB Deuce McAllister (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 5. He is listed as questionable for Week 1.
The Huddle Take: It appears that McAllister will at least see a limited role in the Saints regular season opener on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If he can remain healthy and on the field this season he could be used as a goal-line back in the Saints offense. The question here is can he truly stay healthy and have an impact? Only time will tell but remember New Orleans not only has Reggie Bush but they also have Pierre Thomas and Aaron Stecker vying for carries so fantasy owners should not expect to much from the injury prone McAllister.
