The New York Daily News reports New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said he will decide whether to use PK Lawrence Tynes or PK John Carney on a week-to-week basis. 'The major thing everyone has to understand is as we approach each game we try to analyze exactly where we are from a health standpoint and what is needed to put us in the best position to win. I'm not going to say it's one way or the other. It's a week to week or game to game decision,' Coughlin said.
The Huddle Take: It's probably advisable to steer clear of either Carney or Tynes until Coughlin makes a decision and sticks to it. Quite a few Fantasy players were probably burned last week when the Giants deactivated Carney.

The New York Daily News reports the New York Giants likely will not decide whether to play PK Lawrence Tynes or PK John Carney until right before the team's Week 8 game.
The Huddle Take: You'd be better served going in another direction this week. It's hard enough dealing with game-time decisions involving "real" players. You shouldn't have to sweat out a kicker's status.

The Bergen Record reports New York Giants PK John Carney will likely be released if the team adds WR David Tyree to the active roster.
The Huddle Take: Lawrence Tynes is apparently ready to return to action, so despite Carney's success it looks as though he'll be out on the streets in the very near future.

Newsday.com reports the New York Giants could dress two kickers in Week 5. The Giants want to make sure PK Lawrence Tynes is healthy before releasing PK John Carney.
The Huddle Take: All Carney has done is convert nine of nine field goal attempts and eight of eight PATs, but it sounds as if he'll be kicked to the curb once Tynes is healthy. In the short term, it's a bit of a risk to start a fantasy kicker from a club that's not settled on who they'll use; in the long term, however, it wouldn't be surprising to see Carney land elsewhere in the NFL and continue to help fantasy squads.

The New York Giants have announced PK John Carney has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his Week 3 performance. Carney made four field goals in the game, including the game-winning overtime field goal. It was his 15th career game-winning field goal.
The Huddle Take: The sad thing is that with the return of Lawrence Tynes, Carney might soon be booted out of a job. But somebody will pick him up sooner or later.

Giants.com reports the New York Giants have signed free-agent PK John Carney (Chiefs). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Huddle Take: The signing of the free agent kicker Carney is yet another indication that the Giants are concerned about the injury that starting PK Lawrence Tynes has suffered in the preseason. The veteran Carney should provide a solid kicking option if Tynes misses the season as the Giants have likely feared all along.
