New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said DT Shaun Rogers' (calf)
blood clot situation is a season-ending injury. Rogers experienced
swelling in his leg after playing in the team's first preseason game
last week. He missed practice Sunday, Aug. 12, and Monday, Aug. 13.
In addition, DT Martin Parker (back) is dealing with a herniated
disc in his back that will require surgery, and DT Marvin Austin
(back) is also dealing with back issues and will visit with doctors.
DE Justin Trattou (ankle, heel) was seen by a doctor and is not
expected to return to the field for a couple of weeks.
Huddle Up: The defending champs are stocked at DE, but the loss of Rogers and
the issues with Austin, Parker and Trattou could really slice into
the team's DT depth if any of the latter 3 were to miss any
significant time. Veteran Chris Canty currently is on the PUP list,
leaving little behind starters Linval Joseph and Rocky Bernard.
