Houston Texans QB Case Keenum still has a lead over QB Tom Savage for the No. 2 quarterback job even though he has been inconsistent during training camp.

Huddle Up: The QB2 job in Houston might have added importance given that current QB1 Ryan Fitzpatrick isn't exactly setting the world on fire. Those drafting Andre Johnson in hopes of fantasy success are hoping someone--anyone--steps up at the quarterback position for the Texans.

Houston Texans QB Case Keenum is taking some repetitions with the first-team offense in practice Thursday, Aug. 14.

Huddle Up: Free-agent Ryan Fitzpatrick remains on track to open the season as the Texans' starter, but his job isn't secure by any means -- as was underscored by his 2-interception performance in the team's preseason opener.

Houston Texans QB Case Keenum (thumb) took his normal amount of throws in practice Thursday, Dec. 26, and head coach Wade Phillips said Keenum will start in Week 17 against the Tennessee Titans if he's healthy.

Huddle Up: Just in case you're in dire straits or are playing in a two-QB league . . .

Houston Texans QB Case Keenum suffered a sprained thumb on his throwing hand during the team's Week 15 game and underwent an MRI. Interim head coach Wade Phillips said Keenum will be evaluated but is concerned about his Week 16 status.

Huddle Up: Could Matt Schaub or T.J. Yates be headed back to the Texans' lineup? Injury or not, Keenum has struggled mightily over the last 4 games with 1 TD pass and 5 interceptions while failing to top 300 yards since Week 9.

Houston Texans QB Case Keenum will be the starter for the rest of the 2013 season, according to team owner Bob McNair. The team wants to use the final three games of the season to evaluate Keenum. Earlier Friday, head coach Gary Kubiak was fired by the 2-11 team. Wade Phillips will serve as the interim coach.

Huddle Up: This is a little too late for those deep-league fantasy owners who were burned when Kubiak replaced Keenum with Matt Schaub in the third quarter Thursday night for the second time in a month, but it shouldn't affect WR Andre Johnson, who's been catching everything in sight lately, no matter who's throwing the passes.

Houston Texans QB Case Keenum was benched in favor of QB Matt Schaub in the team's Week 14 game on Thursday, Dec. 5.

Huddle Up: Keenum was pulled late in the 3rd quarter with the Texans trailing 24-10, and finished 16-of-29 for 159 yards, a TD and an interception. Keenum is now 0-7 as a starter, and it was the second time in 4 weeks Keenum has been replaced by Schaub, making it clear that he can't be trusted in any size fantasy league.
