The Dayton Daily News reports Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis could look to replace RB Chris Perry in favor RB Cedric Benson or RB Kenny Watson. Perry rushed for just 14 yards on 11 carries in Week 6. "We're going to look at all that," Lewis said. "We need to look at it and take a hard look, and see what's the best thing for us to go forward. It's a combination of things. I'm not going to sit here and elaborate much on it now. We've got to do better. It's not good enough."
The Huddle Take: Not only has Perry been ineffective, he's also leading the NFL in fumbles and has a track record of injuries. Obviously there are more problems in Cincinnati than just the running game, but with other options in-house it would behoove the Bengals to take a lookâif for no other reason that to determine what to do with that very high first round draft pick.

The Cincinnati Bengals have terminated the contract of RB Kenny Watson.
The Huddle Take: Not a big surprise, but in case any of you still have him on your roster...feel free to let him go!
Posted: 10/4/2008 4:59pm et
The Bengals released Kenny Watson today after six years with the team. He's turned 30 already and the addition of Cedric Benson allowed the Bengals to part ways with Watson.
The Huddle Take: This makes Benson the direct back-up for Chris Perry and if past history holds true, Benson will become the starter once Perry sustains another season-ending injury. Watson had a great run as a back-up for the Bengals and should still land with another team looking for depth.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports Cincinnati Bengals RB Kenny Watson (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 4. He is expected to play Week 1.
The Huddle Take: He will need to be healthy, because with the direction the team has gone, he should get plenty of playing time. This could be even more important if, as usual, Chris Perry doesn't make it far without getting injured.

The Dayton Daily News reports the Cincinnati Bengals will use a running back-by-committee approach in 2008. Rudi Johnson, Chris Perry and Kenny Watson will all share snaps.
The Huddle Take: With Rudi bothered by hamstring injuries again and Perry the proud owner of 42 DNPs in just four NFL seasons, the Bengals' RBBC comes out of necessity. Johnson should see the bulk of the work so long as he can stay healthy, but recent history suggests having Watson as Rudi insurance is an extremely prudent move. Draft Perry only if your team has an IR spot to fill because that's where he'll be before long.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports Bengals RB Kenny Watson will likely start the team's preseason opener Monday, Aug. 11.
The Huddle Take: Shades of last year, as Rudi Johnson will sit this one out due to a sore hamstring. Oft-injured Chris Perry is also expected to see some action, at least until he gets hurt again.
