Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen was acquired by the New England Patriots Wednesday, March 8, according to a source. It is not known what the Colts will receive in the trade.

Huddle Up: Allen likely will replace Martellus Bennett in the team's offense and should have a solid role in the passing game. He will have to share targets with the other pass catchers on the team and probably should be a No. 2 tight end in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 12/18/2016 6:18pm ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen managed just one catch for 13 yards on two targets in the Week 15 game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Huddle Up: After a three-touchdown effort in Week 13 at N.Y. Jets he has just one catch in two games since. He cannot be trusted from a fantasy perspective heading into Week 16.

  • Posted: 12/11/2016 9:49pm ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen was targeted just two times and he was held without a catch in the Week 14 game against the Houston Texans.

Huddle Up: Allen scored thrice last weekend, but it was a crash back to Earth for Allen and any fantasy owners taking a chance on him off the waiver wire.

  • Posted: 12/5/2016 7:08pm ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen posted three touchdowns in the first half of the Week 13 game against the New York Jets Monday, Dec. 5. He is the first NFL player to post three touchdowns in the first half since New York Giants TE Larry Donnell in 2014.

Huddle Up: The Colts are carving up the Jets underneath, and Allen has benefited from the return of Andrew Luck from concussion. If he is still available on your waiver wire heading into Week 14, grab Allen now that he is completely healthy.

  • Posted: 11/6/2016 12:26pm ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) is officially active for the team's Week 9 game.

Huddle Up: Allen has missed the last several weeks because of his injury but probably will see some targets during the game. He probably will lose some playing time to Jack Doyle moving forward and should only be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 11/6/2016 7:09am ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) is expected to play in Week 9's game against the Green Bay Packers, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Allen was listed as questionable on the injury report despite taking part in all three practices during the week. He might not see many targets versus the Packers due to the emergence of TE Jack Doyle and the return of WR Donte Moncrief, so he should be avoided unless you are desperate for a bye-week replacement.

  • Posted: 11/4/2016 2:02pm ET

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 4, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

Huddle Up: Allen appears to be on track to play this week and should see a good amount of targets during the game. He can be a low-end No. 1 tight end in most leagues as a bye week replacement.

  • Posted: 11/4/2016 11:14am ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) participated in practice Friday, Nov. 4, and is expected to be active for Week 9 against the Green Bay Packers.

Huddle Up: Owners of Jack Doyle may need to begin the search for another option at tight end, as Allen and Doyle generally perform at a TE2 level when both players are playing. With Green Bay defending tight end moderately well and Donte Moncrief back and T.Y. Hilton expected to go against the shorthanded Packers secondary, expect Andrew Luck to lean on his wideouts this weekend.

  • Posted: 11/2/2016 11:29am ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) is participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Huddle Up: Allen has missed the last two games because of the injury and his status for Week 9 will not be known until later in the week. He likely will rejoin the starting lineup if he is able to play in Week 9 and can be a low-end No. 1 tight end.

  • Posted: 10/28/2016 11:27am ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 8 versus the Kansas City Chiefs.

Huddle Up: Allen is expected to miss at least one more game. Jack Doyle has emerged as a full-time player in his absence, although this may not be the week to use him, as Kansas City's Eric Berry is usually successful in shutting down tight ends.

  • Posted: 10/26/2016 12:01pm ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) is expected to be sidelined for three to five weeks because of his ankle injury. Allen was not walking with crutches or an obvious limp in the locker room Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Huddle Up: Allen is expected to miss at least another week or two because of the injury, so owners should monitor the situation to see when he plays again. Jack Doyle is receiving most of the work at tight end and has caught one touchdown in each of the last two games. Doyle can be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues while Allen is sidelined.

  • Posted: 10/21/2016 11:09am ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) will not play Week 7 against the Tennessee Titans.

Huddle Up: Although there has been no confirmation, Allen is thought to have a high-ankle sprain and should be expected to miss multiple weeks. Jack Doyle should be a full-time player in his absence and be treated as a low-end TE1 this week.

  • Posted: 10/20/2016 2:57pm ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 20.

Huddle Up: Allen probably won't be suiting up against the Tennessee Titans, which makes Jack Doyle an under-the-radar start this week. He has been one of Andrew Luck's most trusted targets and put up a nice stat line last week when Allen was hurt (four catches, 53 yards, one touchdown).

  • Posted: 10/19/2016 2:41pm ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) was absent for practice Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Huddle Up: Allen is looking pretty iffy for this week's tilt after suffering the ankle injury last week. Jack Doyle is primed for sleeper status. Andrew Luck has looked Doyle's way often even with Allen on the field, but Doyle tallied four catches for 53 yards and touchdown last week when Allen was ailing.

  • Posted: 10/17/2016 5:52pm ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) is considered week-to-week after an MRI revealed a sprained ankle, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Allen probably will miss at least one week because of the injury, so owners should look for a possible timetable for his return. Jack Doyle likely will take over as the starting tight end but probably will not be a great option for owners.

  • Posted: 10/16/2016 6:07pm ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) left the Week 6 game against the Houston Texans due to a right ankle injury. He is listed as questionable to return, but he is on the bench with a big ice bag on his lower leg.

Huddle Up: Allen is a big target in the red zone for the Colts. With Allen on the shelf, it appears Jack Doyle might see a few more targets inside the 20.

  • Posted: 10/9/2016 8:24pm ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen posted six receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown in the Week 5 game against the Chicago Bears on six targets.

Huddle Up: Allen's catch total was a season high, and his touchdown was the first since Week 1. Allen hasn't really taken off in the offense even with Coby Fleener leaving and going to New Orleans, although he has at least two catches in all five outings. Allen is a low-end TE1 heading into Week 6.

  • Posted: 5/27/2016 2:46pm ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen could see the field considerably more in the upcoming season, as new offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski may elect not to use as many multiple tight-end sets as former offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton. The players listed behind Allen on the depth chart are all unproven, being TEs Jack Doyle, Erik Swoope and Darion Griswold.

Huddle Up: If he can stay healthy after missing a combined 21 games over the last three season, Allen should definitely be in line for more snaps with fellow 2012 draftee Coby Fleener now in New Orleans.
