FOXSports.com reports the Buffalo Bills have released RB Dominic Rhodes.
The Huddle Take: It looks like Rhode's career may be on it's final leg. It was some news when he was signed by the Bills, but it would appear that he's lost enough of a step to be unable to seriously compete for time.

Chris Brown, of BuffaloBills.com, reports Buffalo Bills RB Dominic Rhodes did not play in the team's preseason opener Sunday, Aug. 9, because of a sore knee, according to head coach Dick Jauron. Jauron said, "We thought he would play. He was certainly going to play on offense and he was scheduled to return our kicks and our punts early in the game. We ran him before the game and it was just sore. So it didn't make sense to put him out there."
The Huddle Take: Xavier Omon received the bulk of the carries, with Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch getting just three each. If Rhodes remains nicked up, Omon would come into play as Jackson's backup while Lynch is suspended.

Chris Brown, of BuffaloBills.com, reports the Bills coaching staff wants to effectively manage the carries of RB Marshawn Lynch this season due to his physical running style. The coaching staff plans to do so by making use of RBs Fred Jackson and Dominic Rhodes in 2009. To what degree the two will be used to spell Lynch remains to be seen. The Bills plan to run with more no huddle this season, so the added tempo will reduce time between snaps and wear running backs out quicker. Lynch, by the way, has bulked up to 230 pounds, but he said the extra mass has not caused him to lose a step this year.
The Huddle Take: One way to reduce Lynch's carries is to sit him down for the first three games... oh wait, the NFL already took care of that. The prospect of more work for Jackson and Rhodes can't sit well with anyone banking on Lynch as a fantasy stud this season.

Steve Wyche, of NFL.com, reports the Buffalo Bills have agreed on a two-year, incentive-laden deal with free-agent RB Dominic Rhodes. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
The Huddle Take: Rhodes will team with Fred Jackson to help replace Marshawn Lynch during his early-season suspension. Expectations, however, should be diminished behind an offensive line that has taken a couple of significant hits this offseason.

Indianapolis Colts RB Dominic Rhodes is not expected to play in Week 17.
The Huddle Take: Rhodes indicated in earlier media reports that he's a little banged up and would enjoy some down time; with the Colts having already locked into the fifth seed there's no reason not to grant his holiday wish and use plenty of Chad Simpson against the Titans on Sunday.

The Associated Press reports Indianapolis Colts RB Dominic Rhodes rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries in the team's Week 15 game.
The Huddle Take: Rhodes filled in admireably once again for the injured Joseph Addai in Indy and could be a major factor for fantasy owners to consider in Week 16. With the Colts jockeying for playoff position the Week 16 game against Jacksonville could make Dominic Rhodes or Joseph Addai a No. 1 runner. Whichever running back gets the start could help decide fantasy league championships in 2008.
