Miami Dolphins RB Isaiah Pead is working with the starting unit Monday, Aug. 1, while RB Jay Ajayi (knee) is sidelined. RB Arian Foster spelled Pead with the second unit.

Huddle Up: Pead will be lucky to make the final roster and has no fantasy value. Moreover, this illustrates Miami's thin running back depth and Kenyan Drake's limited knowledge of the offense.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Isaiah Pead cannot return to the team's practice facility until June 7 after the University of Cincinnati has its graduation ceremony. NFL rules prohibit players from participating in offseason programs until a school's senior class has graduated. Rookie minicamps are an exception to the rule.

Huddle Up: Pead will miss a few OTAs, but he shouldn't be dramatically behind the rest of the offense once the Rams reconvene. He's still on track to serve as a complementary back to (and possible eventual replacement for) Steven Jackson.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

The St. Louis Rams have signed second-round draft choice RB Isaiah Pead. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Huddle Up: Pead was drafted to spell Steven Jackson this year but HC Jeff Fisher and OC Brian Schottenheimer might be planning for slightly more "committee" than you think. Fisher surely has fond memories of LenDale White & (rookie) Chris Johnson sharing the rock in 2008 and spearheading a 13-3 record.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Isaiah Pead showed well late in the Week 8 game against the New England Patriots, and head coach Jeff Fisher indicated he might have earned more playing time. 'We are going to try to get him some touches. It makes sense. You are playing in an NFL game; you are playing against NFL players and for him to flash like that regardless of the situation in the game was pretty impressive,' Fisher said.

Huddle Up: Pead, a popular pre-season sleeper, has nowhere to go but up with only 4 rushes and 6 touches in 7 games so far. Three of those attempts came in Week 8 when he gained 32 yards against the Patriots in London. Pead is worth a speculative pickup again, parricularly in deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Isaiah Pead is expected to compete for the starting running back job during offseason workouts and training camp. Head coach Jeff Fisher said Pead will not be used as punt returner and would only be a kick returner if he is used as a returner at all.

Huddle Up: Pead, who rushed for only 54 yards on 10 carries as a rookie last season, figures to be competing with fellow 2nd-year back Daryl Richardson and likely a draft pick or 2 with Steven Jackson moving on to Atlanta.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RBs Isaiah Pead, Daryl Richardson, Terrance Ganaway and Zac Stacy will all be competing for playing time during offseason workouts and training camp.

Huddle Up: After featuring the likes the Marshall Faulk and Steven Jackson for the past decade and half, it's a whole new fantasy ballgame in the Rams' backfield. Pead, the team's 2nd-round pick in 2012, was drafted to be Jackson's successor, but he was outperformed by fellow rookie Richardson, a 7th-round pick, (475-54 rushing yards) last season. Ganaway, a 6th-round selection of the Jets last season, and Stacy, a 5th-round pick of the Rams in April, have yet to log an NFL carry.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Isaiah Pead was suspended for the first game of the 2013 season for violating the NFL program on substance abuse.

Huddle Up: With Pead out of the mix, at least initially, Darryl Richardson and rookie Zac Stacy move to the front of the Rams' backfield mess.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said the team is expected to use a committee approach in the backfield this year between Daryl Richardson, Isaiah Pead and Zac Stacy. The overall youth in the backfield is a concern in terms of pass protection. Stacy caught the ball well during a practice session Tuesday, June 11.

Huddle Up: Stacy is a popular sleeper pick as the favorite to head up the Rams' backfield committee, but even the Rams won't know how the rotation will shake out until their young backs get some quality reps in training camp and the preseason.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RBs Zac Stacy and Benny Cunningham have been impressive during the preseason, and head coach Jeff Fisher refused to indicate who would be the immediate backup behind RB Daryl Richardson. Both Cunningham and Stacy are more physical than RB Isaiah Pead, and Cunningham is effective as a punt protector and potential kick returner. Cunningham and Stacy have also shown they can catch the ball out of the backfield. Pead has already fumbled once in the preseason and will miss Week 1 for a drug suspension. Not helping his cause is the fact that he didn't gain much yardage in two games and also was indecisive as a kick returner. However, he's improved in pass protection, and the Rams are unlikely to move on from him after one season.

Huddle Up: While Richardson is the clear No. 1, don't be surprised if Stacy gets the call as the change-up back in Week 1 during Pead's suspension and sticks in that role the remainder of the season as long as the rookie's pass protection is serviceable.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Isaiah Pead will return to practice Wednesday, Sept. 11, after serving a one game suspension. It is not clear if Pead will play in the team's Week 2 game.

Huddle Up: Starter Daryl Richardson received 25 of the team's 26 RB touches in Week 1, including 20 of the 21 rushing attempts, but didn't do much with them, averaging 3.2 yards per rush and 6.6 per reception. In any case, Pead should be the No. 2 back this week and could see 5-10 touches depending what he does early.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

Updating a previous report, St. Louis Rams RB Isaiah Pead is back form his one-game suspension, and he is listed as the team's primary backup to starting RB Daryl Richardson heading into the Week 2 game. Benny Cunningham and Chase Reynolds are in a 'tie' for the fourth spot on the depth chart behind Richardson, Pead and Zac Stacy. Cunningham was third while Pead was serving a one-game suspension.

Huddle Up: Richardson looked just fine as the starter, so there's no reason to expect Pead to walk into anything more than a handful of touches despite being reinstated as the Rams' RB2.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Isaiah Pead has been declared inactive for Week 4.

Huddle Up: Pead, somewhat surprisingly, has been declared a healthy scratch, but whatever the reason, it's good fantasy news for fellow RB Daryl Richardson, who's been dealing with a foot issue for the past week.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

Despite the fact St. Louis Rams RB Benny Cunningham (ankle) is inactive for the Week 8 game against the Seattle Seahawks Monday, Oct. 28, RB Isaiah Pead is still a healthy scratch. RB Zac Stacy will start, with RB Daryl Richardson as the backup. RB Chase Reynolds will serve as the third tailback.

Huddle Up: Pead, who only has 7 carries for 21 yards this season and none since Week 3, clearly has taken a tumble down the St. Louis depth chart and there's not much chance of a recovery barring injuries to Stacy and/or Richardson.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

The St. Louis Rams will likely use RBs Zac Stacy, Benny Cunningham and Tre Mason in the first three slots on the depth chart. In the fourth spot it could be a competition between RBs Isaiah Pead, Chase Reynolds, Kadeem Jones and Trey Watts.

Huddle Up: Pead, a second-round pick in 2012, has been a big disappointment in the Gateway City, totalling only 31 touches in 2 seasons, and there's not really any light at the end of this tunnel, either.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

Updating earlier reports, St. Louis Rams RB Isaiah Pead (knee) is feared to have torn his left anterior cruciate ligament, according to head coach Jeff Fisher.

Huddle Up: Pead was fighting for a roster spot and now it looks like he could miss the season with a knee injury. Pead was the 50th overall pick in the 2012 draft.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Isaiah Pead is out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He'll undergo surgery this week.

Huddle Up: Rugged break for the 2012 2nd-round pick who has been unable to make a mark in the NFL with 75 rushing yards in 2 seasons. That leaves third-round pick Tre Mason and Benny Cunningham as the backups behind Zac Stacy.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Isaiah Pead (knee) has cleared waivers and was placed on Reserve/Injured Thursday, Aug. 2.

Huddle Up: It'll be another lost season for the 2012 2nd-round pick who has 75 career rushing yards, but the Rams haven't given up on him quite yet.

  • Posted: 4/1/2016 12:26am ET

Free-agent RB Isaiah Pead (Steelers) signed an undisclosed deal with the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, March 31. The team also signed Daniel Thomas, a 2011 second-round draft pick of the team who didn't play a snap with any team last season.

Huddle Up: Due to underwhelming performance, suspensions and injuries, Pead -- the 2012 second-round pick of the Rams -- has totaled all of 78 career yards on 18 carries so far. In other words, the Dolphins are far from done looking for RB help.

  • Posted: 11/2/2015 2:36pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Nov. 2, and free-agent RB Isaiah Pead (Rams) was signed to an undisclosed deal in a corresponding move.

Huddle Up: Pead adds depth behind DeAngelo Williams. Williams will dominate touches in the Steelers' backfield for the rest of the season and be a high-end RB2. He's by far the top waiver wire target this week.

  • Posted: 11/1/2015 11:33pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) expected to be put on the season-ending Reserve/Injured list with a knee injury, pending MRI confirmation. RB Isaiah Pead is in line to take his spot on the roster.

Huddle Up: It's a devastating blow to the Steelers' offense but DeAngelo Williams showed earlier this year that he's a productive backup. Williams will be a RB2 for the rest of the season. Pead is a non-factor.
