Minnesota Vikings WR Greg Childs said there is no timetable for his return but is making progress in his recovery from two patellar tendon tears. He has been able to do some cutting, jumping and sprinting at this point but is not close to 100 percent yet. He said he will not rush back and is not sure if he will be ready for the start of training camp.
Huddle Up: The Vikings signed Greg Jennings and drafted Cordarrelle Patterson to take care of their immediate needs at wide receiver. Childs has a ways to go just to get back on the field; it would be optimistic to stash him even in unlimited long-term keeper leagues.

Minnesota Vikings WR Greg Childs said his rehab from two torn patellar tendons is going well but is not sure if he will be able to take part in offeseason workouts. "Everything's coming along good," Childs said. "I'll definitely be back. It's not even a question or whatever. It's just mainly me continuing doing what I'm doing out here, continue my rehab, continue to stay focused and just getting ready to go." Childs said it took him 18 months to feel normal after he torn one of his patellar tendon in 2010.
Huddle Up: It was my understanding that there would be no math, but if it took Childs 18 months to recover from one torn patellar tendon does that mean it will be three years before he's back from two? If he returns to the NFL at all it will be borderline miraculous, but he does drink from the same practice facility water jug as Adrian Peterson... so we're sayin' there's a chance.

Minnesota Vikings WR Greg Childs and CB Nick Taylor each have cleared waivers and have been placed on the season-ending Injured Reserve list.
Huddle Up: The Vikings' rookie wide receiver tore both patella tendons during the team's scrimmage Saturday night. It will be a long rehab, maybe even two seasons, but for now the Vikings are willing to keep Childs around in hopes of him living up to his vast potential.

The Minnesota Vikings announced Monday, Aug. 6, they have waived WR Greg Childs.
Huddle Up: Childs tore both patellar tendons during the team's scrimmage Saturday night. If he clears waivers he could be added to injured reserve; there's also the possibility that with two patellar tendon tears in one knee and one in the other over the past three years, Childs' football career may be over.
