Houston Texans general manager Brian Gaine said he sees RB Lamar Miller as the team's starting running back next season.

Huddle Up: Miller is coming off a solid 2018 season when he finished with 973 yards and five touchdowns. He probably will have to share playing time with the other backs on the roster next season but could be a No. 3 fantasy running back in standard leagues if he receives a majority of the carries.

  • Posted: 1/24/2019 11:15pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller has only $1 million of guaranteed money left on his contract, and the team could elect to release him, according to Spotrac. The move would save more than $6 million in cap room.

Huddle Up: Miller has topped 1,000 yards just once in his three seasons with the Texans and was mostly a non-factor in the receiving game last year. If the Texans feel D'onta Foreman is ready to step up or find someone else on the open market or draft day, Miller could be seeking work this summer. If things stay status quo, Miller is a good RB3.

  • Posted: 1/5/2019 4:53pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller tallied just five rushing attempts for 18 yards while adding eight catches for 63 yards in a wild-card playoff loss to the Indianapolis Colts Saturday, Jan. 5.

Huddle Up: The Texans were forced to pass early and often, mostly taking Miller and the running game out of the equation. He did play a significant role in the passing game, but he can't be drafted as more than low-end RB2 to high-end RB3.

  • Posted: 12/30/2018 2:49pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller rushed for 56 yards and one touchdown on 17 carries against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 17.

Huddle Up: Miller has been a solid fantasy option this season when he has been healthy and has three rushing touchdowns in his last five games. He can be considered a fine No. 2 running back in playoff fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 12/28/2018 2:37pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 28 and he is off the injury report ahead of the Week 17 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Huddle Up: Miller appears to be in good shape for the regular season finale, but the team could play it safe and limit his work in the game to preserve him for the playoffs. It's likely he, Alfred Blue and D'Onta Foreman all touch the ball and share the workload, limiting each player's fantasy value.

  • Posted: 12/28/2018 8:21am ET

Updating an earlier report, Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) will be 'good to go' Sunday, Dec. 30, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

Huddle Up: The Texans have plenty to play for, including the possibility of the top seed, and Miller will be an RB2 in fantasy.

  • Posted: 12/28/2018 6:33am ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) is expected to play in Week 17 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Huddle Up: Miller will be an RB2 option in the season finale. The team is still playing for seeding and could end up in the top seed if all the dominoes fall their way.

  • Posted: 12/27/2018 1:11pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 27.

Huddle Up: Miller appears to be on track to play in the Week 17 game as long as he does not suffer a setback. He can be a No. 2 running back in most leagues if he receives his normal workload.

  • Posted: 12/27/2018 9:12am ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) said Thursday, Dec. 27, he is feeling 'way better' about his sprained ankle.

Huddle Up: Miller has essentially missed the last two games with the injury and would like to return for Sunday's crucial game with the Jaguars with the AFC South title still not locked up. Miller got in a limited practice Wednesday, and we'll see if he can ramp things up at all here to close out the week.

  • Posted: 12/26/2018 3:33pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 26.

Huddle Up: Miller sat out last week and could miss another game if the team decides to rest him for the playoffs. Owners will need to monitor the situation to see if Miller will play this week. He can be considered a No. 2 running back if he plays, but Alfred Blue would be a flex option if he receives the start.

  • Posted: 12/24/2018 10:04am ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) is 'trending upwards' and has 'a chance' to play in Week 17 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

Huddle Up: Miller was limited in practice all of last week before sitting out the Week 16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, so what O'Brien isn't an exaggeration. The Texans should be able to beat the Jaguars without Miller, but Houston can't afford to take the risk if he's close with an AFC South Division title in the balance. Although he'll be a risky fantasy start in Week 17, owners probably don't have many other better RB2 choices available to them.

  • Posted: 12/22/2018 9:04am ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) will not travel with the team for their Week 16 game and has been ruled out.

Huddle Up: Alfred Blue likely will receive the start with Miller out, but D'Onta Foreman could also receive some touches during the game. Blue has had some success in limited playing time this season but can be at least a flex option in leagues this week. Owners in most leagues can avoid Foreman.

  • Posted: 12/21/2018 2:16pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) was limited in practice for a third straight day Friday, Dec. 21 and he is listed as questionable for Week 16 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Huddle Up: Miller was on and off the field last week due to his injury. If he is sidelined or limited it will be Alfred Blue stepping in and fill the void. Miller is a risky fantasy play for the critical Week 16 matchups.

  • Posted: 12/20/2018 3:22pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

Huddle Up: Miller appears to have a chance to play in Week 16, but owners will know more about his status in the next few days. He can be considered a No. 2 running back in all leagues if he is active for the game.

  • Posted: 12/20/2018 9:24am ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) said Thursday, Dec. 20, that he's day to day as he recovers from his Week 15 ankle injury and added that the injury could've been worse.

Huddle Up: Miller's early-game injury and subsequent absence was costly to many of his fantasy teams last weekend, but he was at least able to get in limited work in the team's first practice of the week on Wednesday. We'll be watching to see if Miller can keep trending back upward.

  • Posted: 12/19/2018 4:15pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to monitor the situation during the week to see if Miller will be able to play. He can be a solid No. 2 running back if he is active, but owners should have other options ready in case he is ruled out.

  • Posted: 12/16/2018 8:15am ET

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller's (ankle) ankle injury is not considered serious, and he may be able to play in the Week 16 game, according to a source. Miller should be ready for the start of the playoffs in case he misses any regular season games.

Huddle Up: Owners should monitor Miller's practice participation next week to see if he has a chance to play in Week 16. He is a solid No. 2 running back in all leagues when he is healthy. Alfred Blue and D'Onta Foreman likely would receive playing time if Miller misses any time and could be flex options.

  • Posted: 12/15/2018 6:48pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller's (ankle) injury doesn't appear to be serious, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

Huddle Up: While the initial news is encouraging, Miller owners may want to try to add Alfred Blue as an insurance policy heading into Week 16.

  • Posted: 12/15/2018 5:56pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) did not come back after leaving early with an ankle injury against the New York Jets Saturday, Dec. 15.

Huddle Up: We'll need more information before determining what to do with Miller next week. Those who are in the playoffs and survive with Miller in their lineups might want to pick up Alfred Blue just in case.

  • Posted: 12/15/2018 2:01pm ET

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) went to the locker room in the second quarter of the Week 15 game against the New York Jets on Saturday, Dec. 15. He left the game in the first quarter, returned after a brief absence, but is now sidelined again.

Huddle Up: The Texans are likely to be a little more pass-happy with Miller on the shelf and questionable to return. Alfred Blue will be the main back if Miller cannot come back.

  • Posted: 12/15/2018 1:59pm ET

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) checked back into the Week 15 game against the New York Jets after leaving earlier with an ankle injury.

Huddle Up: It appears he'll be good to go, but it will be something to watch the rest of the way. If he needs more rest as the game goes on, or if the game gets out of hand allowing him for more rest, Alfred Blue would be the beneficiary.

  • Posted: 12/15/2018 1:38pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (lower body) suffered an apparent lower-body injury in the first quarter of the Week 15 game against the New York Jets. He attempted to limp off, couldn't make it to the sideline and was attended to by trainers on the field.

Huddle Up: If Miller is limited or forced to miss the rest of the game it would be the Alfred Blue carrying the load the rest of the way. We'll stay on top of it and let you know when Miller's status is updated.

  • Posted: 12/9/2018 6:16pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller rushed 14 times for 33 yards and a touchdown in the Week 14 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Huddle Up: Miller's average per rush was poor, but at least he found the end zone for his fantasy owners. He remains more of a RB3 or flex fantasy option heading into Week 15 against the New York Jets and their leaky rush defense.

  • Posted: 12/2/2018 2:01pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller rushed for 103 yards on 19 carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 13.

Huddle Up: Miller has been a consistent option for owners since the middle of October and has four 100-yard performances in the last six games. He should be considered a No. 2 running back in all leagues next week.

  • Posted: 11/26/2018 8:36pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller had 12 carries for 162 yards, including a 97-yard touchdown, and caught one pass for five yards in a 34-17 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 12.

Huddle Up: Miller will deliver some duds, but this is the third time he has topped 100 yards and fourth time over 85 yards in the last five games. He's a RB2 as the headliner of the Houston backfield.

  • Posted: 11/18/2018 3:48pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller registered 20 carries for 86 yards in the Week 11 game against the Washington Redskins and he added three receptions for 22 yards with five targets.

Huddle Up: Miller bounced back from a bummer in Denver two weeks ago, posting 100 or more total yards from scrimmage for the third consecutive outing. He remains a decent low-end RB2 or flex fantasy option heading into the Week 12 against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night.

  • Posted: 11/16/2018 7:30pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller faces the Washington Redskins in Week 11, and the Redskins have allowed the fifth-fewest rushing yards per game this season.

Huddle Up: After a couple of 100-yard rushing efforts, Miller delivered a dud against the Denver Broncos last time out. He's been held under 50 rushing yards in four of his last six games and could be headed for another rough outing against Washington. He's just a volume-based flex play.

  • Posted: 11/4/2018 6:19pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller rushed 12 times for 21 yards and caught two passes for 27 yards in a 19-17 win over the Denver Broncos in Week 9.

Huddle Up: After back-to-back 100-yard games, Miller delivered a dud against a Denver defense that has struggled against the run. His big games are going to remain the exception and not the norm.

  • Posted: 10/25/2018 8:52pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller rushed 18 times for 133 yards and a touchdown in a 42-23 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 8.

Huddle Up: It was Miller's second straight 100-yard rushing game, and he appears to be gaining momentum after a slow start. He's a RB2 heading into a Week 9 matchup with the Denver Broncos.

  • Posted: 10/24/2018 3:09pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (chest) practiced in full Wednesday, Oct. 24 and he was lifted from the injury report ahead of the Week 8 game with the Miami Dolphins, his former team, on Thursday, Oct. 25.

Huddle Up: Miller could excel against his former mates, as Miami ranks just 29th in the NFL in rushing defense with 136.7 yards per game allowed with six touchdown. They have also given up nine runs of 20 or more yards through seven outings. Treat him as a solid low-end RB2 or flex fantasy option.

  • Posted: 10/22/2018 5:44pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (chest) fully participated in the team's walkthrough Monday, Oct. 22.

Huddle Up: Miller is coming off his best game of the season in Week 7 and should continue to see a solid amount of carries this week against the Miami Dolphins. Owners can consider Miller has a flex option in most leagues.

  • Posted: 10/21/2018 2:37pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown on 22 carries against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7.

Huddle Up: Miller had his best game of the season in Week 7 with season highs in carries, rushing yards and touchdowns. He should receive a solid amount of touches next week against the Miami Dolphins and can be a No. 2 running back or flex option.

  • Posted: 10/18/2018 3:42pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (chest) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 18.

Huddle Up: Miller probably will receive a majority of the carries this week and could be a flex option in some deeper leagues but is not a strong fantasy option against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

  • Posted: 10/17/2018 3:17pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (chest) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 17.

Huddle Up: Miller has received at least 10 carries in every game he has played in this season but has been held to under 50 yards in each of the last three games. He could be a flex option in some deeper leagues but can also be benched if owners have better options.

  • Posted: 10/14/2018 7:23pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (chest) rushed 15 times for 46 yards in his return to the lineup in Week 6 against the Buffalo Bills.

Huddle Up: Miller was active last week, but didn't play due to a chest injury. He has 17 total touches to just nine for Alfred Blue, so he's back, he just struggled against a surprisingly stiff rush defense. It won't get any better heading to Jacksonville in Week 7, so treat him as a low-end RB3 or flex fantasy option for that one.

  • Posted: 10/12/2018 1:30pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (chest) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 12, and is not on the injury report for Week 6.

Huddle Up: Miller probably will return to the starting lineup but may lose some snaps to Alfred Blue during the game. He has been held in check over his last two games and may only be a possible flex option in deeper leagues this week.

  • Posted: 10/11/2018 3:00pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (chest) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 11.

Huddle Up: Miller was active last week but did not receive any touches but should be involved this week. He may have to share playing time with Alfred Blue but could still be a flex option in some leagues.

  • Posted: 10/10/2018 2:43pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (chest) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 10.

Huddle Up: Miller was active for the Sunday night game, but he did not get into the game. He remains an extremely risky fantasy play until he can get back in there, knock off the rust and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks. If he is limited or out, Alfred Blue would again handle the majority of the workload.

  • Posted: 10/8/2018 9:49am ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (chest) will play in Week 6 against the Buffalo Bills in Week 6, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

Huddle Up: Miller was active for Week 5, but it was only in an emergency role. Alfred Blue took on a heavy workload in his absence but did not do much with it. Miller should be considered an uninspiring RB2 for next week, although owners must now concern themselves with the return of D'Onta Foreman, who is reportedly ready to return to the team in Week 7 after recovering from an Achilles' injury.

  • Posted: 10/7/2018 11:23pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (chest) was active for the team's game Sunday, Oct. 7, but was not on the field for any snaps against the Dallas Cowboys.

Huddle Up: Hopefully you didn't get suckered in when Miller was up as the team rode Alfred Blue and kept Miller for emergency use only. Keep an eye on his health leading into the team's Week 6 matchup with the Buffalo Bills.

  • Posted: 10/6/2018 9:45pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (chest) is not expected to play against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5, according to a source.

Huddle Up: With Miller likely out, Alfred Blue will be leaned on early and often. He could be a volume-based flex option this weekend.

  • Posted: 10/5/2018 9:09am ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (chest) continues to deal with a chest injury and his status for Week 5 likely will come down to a game-time decision, head coach Bill O'Brien said Friday, Oct. 5.

Huddle Up: Miller has been a quiet RB3/flex play this season but had his fewest touches (14) in Week 4 when the chest issue became a late-game factor. Miller's fantasy owners who are tentatively planning on using him need to add Alfred Blue if possible or have another option available as the Texans don't play until Sunday night.

  • Posted: 10/4/2018 3:09pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (chest) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 4.

Huddle Up: Miller should be able to play in Week 5, but owners should keep an eye on his situation. He has been a disappointing fantasy option over the last two weeks with only 59 total rushing yards but can be at least a flex option for owners this week.

  • Posted: 10/3/2018 1:38pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (chest) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 3 due to a chest injury.

Huddle Up: Check back on Miller's status on Friday when we'll get a clearer picture of his availability for Week 5. He has been putting up RB3 or flex fantasy numbers so far this season despite his undisputed role as the No. 1 back in H-Town. If he cannot go or is limited, Alfred Blue would pick up more work.

  • Posted: 10/1/2018 11:24am ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller was 'a little banged up' after Week 4 versus the Indianapolis Colts, but head coach Bill O'Brien expects Miller to be fine by the time the team plays the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5.

Huddle Up: Miller came to camp noticeably quicker and lighter this summer, but his offensive line hasn't given him many opportunities to show off his improved physique. Even though he is seeing enough work to be considered a featured back in today's game, owners in deeper leagues may want to consider stashing D'Onta Foreman to see if he can resemble the player he was prior to tearing his Achilles' late last season. Alfred Blue would be an uninspired fantasy start if Miller is forced to sit.

  • Posted: 9/30/2018 5:19pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller rushed 14 times for just 49 yards in Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts and he did not have a reception or target.

Huddle Up: It was a rather poor game for Miller from a fantasy perspective, and especially disappointing considering his team threw up 37 points on the scoreboard. He'll try to bounce back next week against the Cowboys, but treat him more as a RB3 or flex fantasy option despite his status as the No. 1 back in H-Town.

  • Posted: 9/23/2018 2:45pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller caught five passes for 41 yards and one touchdown against the New York Giants in Week 3. He also rushed for 10 yards on 10 carries during the game.

Huddle Up: Miller struggled against the Giants run defense but still had a solid outing because of his receiving totals. He should be a decent No. 2 fantasy running back next week against the Indianapolis Colts.

  • Posted: 9/16/2018 6:38pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller rushed 14 times for 68 yards in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans and he added two receptions for just two yards.

Huddle Up: Miller isn't being pushed by anyone, so he'll be the bellcow for Houston. However, he is still more of a low-end RB2 or must-start RB3 heading into Week 3 against the New York Giants.

  • Posted: 9/9/2018 6:06pm ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller rushed 20 times for 98 yards in the Week 1 loss against the New England Patriots and he also chipped in with one grab for 11 yards.

Huddle Up: Miller is the top tailback on the roster and Alfred Blue isn't expected to push him for a bigger role. There are plenty of running back tandems to make fantasy owners pull their hair out, but Houston isn't one of them. The Texans will travel to meet the Titans in Week 2.

  • Posted: 8/24/2018 10:18am ET

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller was referenced as a 'three-down back' by head coach Bill O'Brien on Friday, Aug. 24. 'Hes what we call a three-down back. We feel like he can play on first, second and third down. Hes a very good pass protector, blitz pickup guy. Hes really good at that. Very good runner, good receiver out of the backfield, very smart player. He and Deshaun (Watson) have a real good chemistry back there in the backfield, and hes a good guy to have back there,' O'Brien said.

Huddle Up: Miller has had plenty of opportunity in his first two years with the Texans, but offensive line issues haven't helped him distinguish himself as the bell-cow runner fantasy owners desire. Down to his lightest playing weight (217 pounds) since he was a Miami Dolphin and with an upgraded group of blockers in front of him, it is possible we could finally see what he is capable of in 2018. He's a safe RB2 selection and a good RB1 choice for owners who elect to go receiver-heavy in the first three rounds.
