NFL.com reports NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has suspended Cleveland Browns WR Donte' Stallworth for the entire 2009 season without pay for violating both the NFL's policy on substances of abuse and the personal conduct policy. Stallworth is not allowed to participate in any team activities and will be reinstated after the Super Bowl.

The Huddle Take: This move comes as no surprise. Stallworth is still looking for his first 1,000-yard season, and it won't come any easier when he returns to the league in 2010.

Kelly Naqi, of ESPN.com, reports Cleveland Browns suspended WR Donte' Stallworth will meet with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell Wednesday, Aug. 5, according to a source with knowledge of the meeting. It is unclear what Stallworth and Goodell will discuss during their meeting.

The Huddle Take: What could these two possibly have to discuss? Orange juice futures? The second season of "Fringe"? Or maybe it will be Stallworth's suspension and what hurdles he'll have to clear to play again in the NFL.

ESPNews reports Cleveland Browns WR Donte' Stallworth was released from prison Friday, July 10.

The Huddle Take: Stallworth is still facing an indefinite suspension from the NFL. Given the public backlash to Stallworth's perceived light sentence from the legal system, Roger Goodell may be inclined to be less lenient with his punishment.

David Ovalle, of the Miami Herald, reports after fatally striking a pedestrian in a March driving accident, Cleveland Browns WR Donte' Stallworth also tested positive for marijuana use, according to law enforcement sources. Miami-Dade prosecutors say Stallworth's blood alcohol level was .126, well above the legal limit, when his Bentley hit and killed Mario Reyes, 59, March 14. Stallworth's test results, which have yet to be released, showed traces of marijuana, according to sources with knowledge of the results.

The Huddle Take: The legal system may have already settled Stallworth's case, but this latest development does him no favors with regards to the ultimate length of the indefinite suspension the NFL handed down.

Tony Grossi, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports Browns WR Donte' Stallworth would count about $7.6 million against the salary cap this season if the team decides to release him at this time.

The Huddle Take: Expect the Browns to follow the example set by the Falcons with Michael Vick and simply stash Stallworth on the suspended list until they're forced to make a decision with regards to his roster spot and the money he may or may not be due.

ESPNews reports the NFL has suspended Cleveland Browns WR Donte' Stallworth indefinitely without pay.

The Huddle Take: Stallworth is no longer relevent in fantasy leagues for 2009 in light of this new information and his off the field troubles.

Mary Kay Cabot, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports Cleveland Browns WR Donte' Stallworth was already in the NFL's substance abuse program before being charged with DUI manslaughter, which means he likely will receive a stiffer punishment from the league.

The Huddle Take: Stallworth will be looking at years of jail time if found guilty of DUI manslaughter. Adding in that he was already in the substance abuse program in the NFL means his football career has likely already ended.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports Cleveland Browns WR Donte' Stallworth has been charged with one count of DUI manslaughter, which is a second-degree felony. Stallworth's bond will be set at $200,000 and will allow him to live in Florida and Ohio.

The Huddle Take: Tragic news for a talented athlete with tremendous potential. Continue to follow this story in the offseason but things are certainly not looking good for Stallworth's fantasy value in 2009 at this point.

Jason Cole, of Yahoo! Sports, reports Miami police have indicated Cleveland Browns WR Donte' Stallworth is expected to be charged as a result of the driving accident that killed a pedestrian early Saturday, March 14, two sources with knowledge of the investigation said. Pending the outcome of the investigation, which includes results of a blood test for drugs or alcohol, the sources said driving under the influence, vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving were among the possible charges. "The police seem pretty confident that they're going to charge him," a league source said. "Even if he (is) clean, I think the police feel he's going to be charged with something, regardless."

The Huddle Take: A trial and/or conviction certainly would not bode well for Stallworth's availability this season—or, for that matter, his future in the NFL.

The Washington Post reports Cleveland Browns WR Donte' Stallworth has reportedly been involved in an accident while driving, which killed a pedestrian in Miami Beach, Fla. It is not known if the pedestrian was crossing the street legally or if Stallworth violated any traffic laws. He has not been charged with anything, but he reportedly had blood drawn to be tested for alcohol and drugs. This is considered routine procedure in such a matter.

The Huddle Take: Certainly a tragic situation. Best to let the authorities do their jobs before worrying about how this may impact Stallworth's NFL career.
