New Orleans Saints TE Jeremy Shockey (shoulder) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 22. He should be able to play in Week 7.

The Huddle Take: Shockey could be a good play against Miami this week. The Dolphins have given up significant yardage to opposing tight ends.

The Associated Press reports New Orleans Saints TE Jeremy Shockey said he plans to take part in the team's final eight voluntary workouts in hopes of getting better acquainted with QB Drew Brees and head coach Sean Payton's offense. "I still haven't been here a year so I can mature a long way and tune up my game," Shockey said. "The most important thing is to know Drew and know what we're trying to get accomplished and knowing each other's game. It's still a new offense for me. I'm going to treat it as a rookie like anyone else in this locker room that just got here."

The Huddle Take: It's not often you get to mention Shockey and "mature" in the same sentence without an "im-" in front of it. Maybe the light is clicking on and he realizes he needs to put in some work to live up to the hype. The Saints offense is certainly a good fit for someone of Shockey's skills, so if he does in fact get on the same page with Brees he's queued up to be a solid fantasy producer.

ESPN.com reports New Orleans Saints TE Jeremy Shockey, who was hospitalized for treatment of dehydration last weekend, is well enough to participate in team's upcoming minicamp, according to agent Drew Rosenhaus. Shockey is '100 percent and feeling great,' Rosenhaus said Tuesday, May 26, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. 'He's doing fine. You guys (the media) will see him next week. If I have anything to add, I'll call you back.'

The Huddle Take: Shockey has certainly had his fair share of ailments the last two seasons but looks to be getting closer to 100 percent which is a good news as OTA's continue. Look for Shockey to be more involved in the offense for New Orleans this season as Drew Brees will have another solid target to throw to. Shockey should be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end with some risk.

Chris Mortensen, of ESPN.com, reports New Orleans Saints TE Jeremy Shockey was taken to the hospital after becoming dehydrated near a swimming pool while attending a party with several NFL players in Las Vegas, spokesman Greg Bensel said Sunday, May 24. After being treated, Shockey was discharged from the hospital, according to Bensel, and appears to be "in good shape now."

The Huddle Take: Shockey. Vegas. Party. Dehydrated. You do the math.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said TE Jeremy Shockey is completely healthy from the sports hernia he suffered last season.

The Huddle Take: Good news for the Saints who could certainly use Shockey to get key first downs and move the chains in this offense. There is no question that he could be a huge part of the passing game and is certainly worthy of consideration as a No. 1 tight-end for fantasy teams in 2009.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports New Orleans Saints TE Jeremy Shockey has recently fired agent Drew Rosenhaus, but Rosenhaus said Shockey will be rehiring him in the near future.

The Huddle Take: Sounds like trouble in paradise for Shockey who just signed on with the Saints last season. Its hard to say what the trouble is between Shockey and his agent but it certainly sounds like a dispute over his value and the deal he got with New Orleans. Monitor this situation in the offseason and consider Shockey only a low-end No. 1 tight end in light of the numerous weapons in the Saints offense.

Updating previous reports, New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton said TE Jeremy Shockey suffered a right ankle sprain in the Saints' win over Detroit. He said the team will have a better idea of Shockey's status for Week 17 after they get a chance to treat the injury Monday, Dec. 22.

The Huddle Take: Shockey has put up decent numbers but hardly been a vital cog in the Saints' offense; they've barely missed a beat when Billy Miller has been asked to fill in for the oft-injured Shockey, and Brees has managed to throw 30 touchdowns despite Shockey's end zone goose egg this season.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees, although throwing three interceptions in Week 13, managed to spread the ball around, finishing with 296 yards on 25 completions to nine players. WR Marques Colston had at least six catches and more than 100 yards for the second time this season, finishing with six catches for 106 yards. TE Jeremy Shockey finished with 52 yards receiving, marking the second consecutive game and fifth time this season that he has had at least 50 yards. RB Pierre Thomas' 20-yard touchdown reception in the game made him the team's 11th player with a touchdown catch this season.

The Huddle Take: There's no reason to believe more of the same won't occur from the New Orleans offense the rest of the season. As Reggie Bush gets more comfortable in his return, and more up to game speed, look for the ball to be spread around even more.
