Denver Broncos WR Jabar Gaffney (thumb) practiced Thursday, Sept. 10, but he is wearing a non-contact jersey. Head coach Josh McDaniels appears to think Gaffney will play Week 1.
The Huddle Take: Gaffney appears likely to play Sunday in the Broncos Week 1 tilt against the Cincinnati Bengals but due to his thumb injury he could be limited in his playing time. Since Brandon Marshall is also missed significant playing time in the offseason, Eddie Royal could be the most likely receiver to get the targets in this offense at the present time.

The Denver Post, reports Denver Broncos WR Jabar Gaffney (thumb) suffered a fractured thumb during practice Friday, Aug. 28. Gaffney will be out for several weeks while his hand heals.
The Huddle Take: Not good news for Gaffney who was in line to get a fair amount of action in the Broncos offense this year with Brandon Marshall having off the field issues and Eddie Royal injuring his shoulder. The season has not even started and the Broncos are scrambling out of the gate to find continuity in its passing game.

ESPN.com reports Denver Broncos WR Jabar Gaffney is listed as a starter on the team's first depth chart.
The Huddle Take: This of course could change depending on what happens with Brandon Marshall, but it is worth noting that Gaffney is as high on the charts as he is. Look for him to have a surprising number of touches this year and to be a relative surprise in output.

The Colorado Springs Gazette, reports Denver Broncos WR Jabar Gaffney worked with the first-team offense during offseason workouts, replacing WR Brandon Marshall, who skipped the workouts.
The Huddle Take: Although Marshall has been rumored to be wanting out of Denver, expect the star wideout to remain in the mile-high city at least one more year and remain the No. 1 receiving threat for the Broncos. Fantasy owners should also take special note of Jabar Gaffney and Eddie Royal as solid No. 2 options in this offense as new quarterback Kyle Orton looks to develop a solid passing attack in 2009. Gaffney has all the makings of a solid receiver but will have a tough road to go to unseat Royal this year as the unquestioned No. 2 for the Broncos.

NFL.com reports the Denver Broncos have signed free-agent WR Jabar Gaffney to a four-year, $10 million deal that includes $3 million guaranteed.
The Huddle Take: New Broncos coach Josh McDaniel is familiar with Gaffney from their time together in New England... and yet he still signed him. Gaffney will go from being a third wheel in the Randy Moss/Wes Welker passing game to being a third wheel in the Brandon Marshall/Eddie Royal passing game.

The Boston Globe reports New England Patriots WR Jabar Gaffney, who is an impending unrestricted free agent, said he would like to re-sign with the team. "No. 1 on my list is to get back here. I want to be here. When I wasn't here, this was the place I wanted to be, so now that I'm here, I'm not going to try to leave," Gaffney said.
The Huddle Take: Gaffney is a solid third option in the Patriots' passing game; when Tom Brady is at the helm, that may be enough to make him a fantasy entity, but with Matt Cassel calling the shots there was barely enough for Randy Moss and Wes Welker. That means Gaffney's fantasy value is at best a question mark heading into 2009.
