The Cincinnati Bengals and free-agent LB James Harrison (Steelers) are expected to resume negotiations Monday, April 15, according to a league source.
Huddle Up: It sounds like it's down to a relative few dollars or contact language here with Harrison on the verge of siding up with a division rival.
Posted: 4/11/2013 11:38pm et
The Cincinnati Bengals met with free-agent LB James Harrison (Steelers) Wednesday, April 10, but no deal is imminent at this point.
Huddle Up: Harrison understandably has drawn some interest from former AFC North rivals, but so far no one is in a rush to add the soon-to-be-35-year-old LB.
Posted: 3/24/2013 11:45pm et
The agent for free-agent LB James Harrison (Steelers) said Sunday, March 24, that there are other teams interested in the services of his client, after the Baltimore Ravens situation did not work out. The team signed DL Elvis Dumervil instead.
Huddle Up: Baltimore seemed to be likely destination for Harrison until Dumervil unexpectedly became available, but it's now on Plan B, C, or D for the 35-year-old LB whose solo-tackle and sack numbers have declined in each of the past 3 seasons.
Posted: 9/6/2012 7:49pm et
Pittsburgh Steelers LB James Harrison (knee) was one of four Steelers who missed practice Thursday but he is scheduled to practice Friday, Sept. 7, and will have a better idea if he will be ready for the Steelers' Week 1 game in Denver.
Huddle Up: Harrison is continuing his comeback from arthroscopic knee surgery in mid-August, and his status for the opener is likely going to come down to game-time decision Sunday night.
Posted: 8/28/2012 8:00pm et
The Pittsburgh Steelers activated LB James Harrison (knee, back) and
LB Jason Worilds (wrist) from the Physically Unable to Perform list
Tuesday, Aug. 28. The Steelers also released RB Jason Ford.
Huddle Up: Despite having his knee scoped in the middle of the preseason,
Harrison's stated mission is to play in the Sept. 9 regular-season
opener in Denver. It looks like the Broncos and Peyton Manning will
have Harrison to contend with.
Posted: 8/21/2012 2:02pm et
Pittsburgh Steelers LB James Harrison (knee) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Tuesday, and he's optimistic he'll be ready for Week 1 against the Denver Broncos. He thinks he'll need to practice at least a few times before being cleared to play in a game.
Huddle Up: It all sounds doable, but fantasy expectations should be tempered for a while. Harrison may see limited action in the opener, but at age 34, the LB undoubtedly will need a few extra weeks beyond that to regain his Pro Bowl form.
Posted: 8/17/2012 7:49pm et
Pittsburgh Steelers LB James Harrison (knee) said he would like to play in a preseason game but is considered week-to-week at this point.
Huddle Up: Harrison reportedly underwent arthroscopic surgery Wednesday, and at age 34, why push it by playing in a meaningless exhibition? The Steelers open the regular season Sept. 9 with a marquee 2011 playoff rematch with the Broncos on Sunday Night Football, and having a fresh Harrison to pressure Peyton Manning should be all that matters in Pittsburgh.
Posted: 8/15/2012 7:27pm et
Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed LB James Harrison (knee) had a minor knee procedure (reportedly a scope) Wednesday, Aug. 15, and said he did not expect Harrison to be out long.
Huddle Up: In other words, having Harrison back for the opening game of the regular season isn't out of the question. Still, the LB is 34 and recovering from injuries takes a little longer than it did 10 years earlier. If Harrison does miss any regular season games, it should only be a couple at most, barring any further complications.
Posted: 8/14/2012 10:54pm et
Pittsburgh Steelers LB James Harrison (knee) might need arthroscopic surgery on his injured knee before the regular season opener. Harrison has not yet practiced during training camp, remaining on the Physically-Unable-To-Perform (PUP) list due to swelling behind his kneecap.
Huddle Up: The Steelers' defensive age is showing. Harrison, 34, has been bothered by the knee back through OTAs, and has been MIA the first 2 weeks of camp. Last season, Harrison finished with a 5-year-low 9 sacks and was limited to 11 games due to a fractured eye socket and a 1-game league suspension. A knee scope now would undoubtedly cause the LB to sit out the first few weeks of the regular season.
Posted: 6/7/2012 6:49pm et
Pittsburgh Steelers LB James Harrison (knee) has not been participating in organized team activities this week because of inflammation in his knee. He is still expected to participate in the upcoming minicamp.
Huddle Up: Harrison had only missed one game in five years until last year's fractured eye socket (and a one-game suspension). He's never had knee problems, but at age 34 even an iron man's knees will get puffy.
